Hi, Im Australian, Healthcare in Australia is universal govt regulated, where a taxpayer only pays 1.5% of their wage under medicare. The system works costs less than $10 per week. You can visit a doctorpublic hospital of your choice who bulk bills show your medicare card and recieve free care! Some things are not fully covered but you can claim the difference from medicare. Only about 5 m people cannot afford health care because they earn less then 50,000 a year (which is enough to have health insurance) Most people can afford health insurance, but do not want to because it means they do not get to eat out more often. Also as far as a truly free market, this country hasn't had that in some time. If you look at it a lot of jobs are being outsourced because we don't have a free market...consider this, a lot of corporations are taxed so heavily that it's easier for them to bring these jobs overseas and pay for all that overhead involved than to keep them here...

Hi, Im Australian, Healthcare in Australia is universal govt regulated, where a taxpayer only pays 1.5% of their wage under medicare. The system works costs less than $10 per week. You can visit a doctorpublic hospital of your choice who bulk bills show your medicare card and recieve free care! Some things are not fully covered but you can claim the difference from medicare. Only about 5 m people cannot afford health care because they earn less then 50,000 a year (which is enough to have health insurance) Most people can afford health insurance, but do not want to because it means they do not get to eat out more often. If you think health care is a right I suggest you look up the definition of rights; I also doubt that ranking is accurate. Furthermore, if you think it's a right then why doesn't the government provide free food for all. As important as health care is, food and water is vital to everyday existence.

Medical savings accounts should be discussed as well.
About 30 years ago the price of a regular check up was ~ $20 and now that's the copay. Insurance is for serious emergencies and isn't needed for a standard check up...Wasted tax $ should go to deficit no HC.

It is very simple. The only way to spend less on healthcare is to consume less. When someone else is paying, consumers consume more. Our 3rd party pay system puts your healthcare dollars into someone else s hands and you don't care how much you spend. Providing all citizens with quality health care improves a countries productivity. It doesn't make sense to ignore it like republicans have for decades.
On the other issues, yea I try to buy American too, but seriously it's almost impossible these days. We need a law that makes it more clear on the packaging of all products where they were made. If more people were aware they too would choose the American made products. Would be even nicer if some supermarkets sold only US made products!

It's funny to me to see Democrats mask a health care reform bill the gives away our freedoms, substantially increases government, puts bureaucrats in charge of your health, reduces the amount of care to our elderly, and cost more money than out grandkids can pay back in their lifetime Does this sound like good health care plan?

Obama is pushing a slow brewed single-payer-system regarding HC.Obama said and I quote
" If I were designing a system from scratch,I'd set up a single payer system [but] making that transition in a rapid way , I think would be very difficult." He also said they needed the 3 branches of government to achieve this takeover, HEY! they are taking over our healthcare system!
We The People... get what we deserve if we don't fight this monstrousity, we are losing our liberties very fast. Truly.

Videogeek27: Analyzing it from both sides of the plate, an individual has to put forth the effort in changing their eating habits. The other side is the American Government should be giving the opportunity to have great health care considering if you are an honest diligent working citizen who pays your taxes. Health is the most important issue because if you cant be close to 100 percent healthy, how are you going to perform effectively on your job?

Healthcare goes far beyond eating habits. I don't have an overweight problem like most fat bastards in this country, I have an underweight issue caused by a condition that has nothing to do with what I ate. People that have shitty health are less productive workers, so it comes down to which comes first, diligent work by the citizen, or health provided by the government. Obviously health from the government, because without health, you can't work.

Then stop repeating republican scare tactics and misinformation. Republicans and the private health companies have no interest in changing anything, and as long as you play into their manipulation nothing will change.
Republicans have had 12 long years to reform health care and they haven't done squat, their agenda is obvious, continue the status quo.
And just so you know, this little tea bagging thing is also being perpetuated by republicans and the corporations that fund them.

Well guess what, the only party interested in bringing any change at all are the democrats. Republicans are manipulating people like you to halt any progress just so they can say they defeated Obama's political agenda. Republicans only care about winning elections, they don't give a rats ass about you, me, or anybody in this country. Their loyalty is to money and power.

The other issue after healthcare is outsourcing. Its just sad that a lot of people are hating on Obama, Bush tried to fix the economy with a band-aid on a bullet wound. Obama is trying to pull the bullet out. Obama has been in office less than a year, hes one of a few real human beings that showed a compassionate and empathetic side. Hes articulate and speaks coherently and knows what hes talking about.

I know this has no relevance to thevideo. We need to stop outsourcing, this is financial suicide. FYI, Im North American and Ecuadorian. Born in the US living in Ecuador right now, love the U.S.. I wanted to add that Fabricio correa, rafael correas brother, who is as corrupted as Bush, Chavez, Castro, takes approximately 20,000 dollars for a Chinese Citizen without legal documentation, so he or she can work legally, they bring their Wal-Mart shit and take away work from the indigenous people.

some people think 1 job going to china is not bad, that job gives 7 jobs overseas. One job in America lost, you lose money reinvested in the accounting cycle for good. A 10 dollar assembly line worker job gives work to the person bagging your groceries, the person who sells you gas for your car. Greedy CEos dont seethat, Bush never saw that. I would rather pay more money for a product made in the US than made overseas. Bottomline, you keep the jobs in America.

That is incorrect. This is for elderly folks who are on medicare. But this bill should kill those folks off a little faster when a half a trillion in Medicare spending is cut out. Sounds like a good deal for the old huh?

Every civilized country in the world has had government subsidized health care of some sort for decades.
If you aren't already afraid of the system we have in place then you are being incredibly naive. You better hope you don't come down with a health condition or loose your job. If you do you'll see why our system sucks!
