@sounza It was very important to make it to the moon in 1969 since there was a huge space race between America and Russia.

After the first moon landing they obviously had a great interest in travelling there, and did that five more times up till 1972 - this was documented all over the world, INCLUDING Russia!

Now there is no reason to travel there anymore, it's way too expensive as it is already and a huge waste of money just to "look at water".

@Worrun That would be because they were taken in 1969-1972, just before the first commercial mobile phone. They didn't put cameras in phones for another 30 years. You know we haven't always been so technologically privileged. If you think about it this is only slightly sub par video quality for the time, which is totally acceptable since they are broadcasting from the moon. Not to mention their equipment wasn't exactly cinema quality due to weight restrictions.

Fact is, they went to the moon, that was only a round trip of 6 days. If there was a solar flare directed towards Earth, they would have been fucked. There were no solar flares during the Apollo missions. The background radiation is survivable up until a couple of months. That problem still needs solving

the dirt is a problem but it is probably worth it not just because the one 1/6 gravity but also because there is no air to create air resistance on the moon which also helps it to go farther
