Wouldn't it be great if she chose to do a comeback album? I know she is in her early 60's now and may not want to tour (she doesn't look it). Just a thought.
Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!
Makes me think of my son. We have had him 35 years. He is a special needs child. I have been hanging on for years thinking things might change. But it never does. I've never heard him say I love you dad, but I know he does. Barbara Mandrell does such a great performance on this video. I can watch it and be sad as long as I want. I think it helps to get some of the sadness out.
thank you so much rockinernie...yes, this could apply to sooo many I have lost in my life, mom and dad, sister, best friend, my stepson......no it never goes away, when my dad died 30 years ago people said time will ease the pain...I'm still waiting.....take care

my brother wrote out the lyrics to this song after the love of his life passed away, loosing her battle with cancer...they were high school sweethearts.....when he showed it to me I cried so hard...and still do.......he still misses her terribly she passed in 2001
@sandrajww That is so beautiful and sad, all in one. I feel the same way about my grandson. Guess we all miss someone very close. The pain never goes away. My best to your brother.
After all these years, Barbara's music still resonates as beautiful and true. She put in her time and paid her dues to achieve country star status. She is not only a great vocalist, but a talented musician. It is so different now, where newcomers are handed a recording contract without talent to back it up. I miss you, Barbara; too bad you retired and left the music scene, but you deserve your own time after entertaining us for decades. Thank you.
What a talent and what a beautiful song. The likes of Barbara come along once in a generation. In Country Music, there are those few who truly leave a mark. She's one of them. The music just doesn't seem the same without her out there on stage now. I, for one, miss ladies like her in the business.
I'm 44 now. When I was about 16, I thought she was the best looking woman in the world. After looking at this I can still see why I thought that. It wasn't just young infatuation, she really was/is a fox.
I like the song years it really got to my heart. I always like Barbara Mandrell since i was 15 years old. She is one beautiful lady and has a strong voice.
@dwoodin1 She is the best, country isnt country anymore, sorry Taylor Shit or whatever your name is. This song always makes me think of my late mom, I miss her after all these years. Yes she is a beautiful lady. Best regards to you had to respond to your great comment

It's gotta be the saddest heartbreak song of all time. Linda Ronstadt's "Long, Long Time" is close, but that's about unrequited love; this one is about lost love, which is a lot tougher, I think. Side note: Boy, she sure was gorgeous! Those eyes!

This is a wonderful song. One of my favorites and I always loved hearing Barbara sing it. She had a unique and distinguished singing voice unlike the young women of today who all sound alike. As for the smoking I didn't know she smoked for the longest time. And yes it is bad for your voice but you wouldn't know it from her voice that she smoked. Please don't that's the least of it's effects upon your body. Thanks for posting.
@ErichH68 hello chicagowarrior i met this beautiful women in chicago when working as a security guard, and became friends so gentle and playful beautiful song
@ErichH68 I met Barbara years ago at a Country Music DJ convention in Nashville. She looked like some kind of angel (I had to check her back for wings). I was so shocked to see her light up a cigarette. Funny how you can have it all and then try to kill it one pack at a time. She's still beautiful though and so sweet she melts in the rain.
I am looking for a song on Lovers Friends and Strangers-How long does it take and Let my man go Jesus even though he died feb.17,1989 I still love him.
This is the most beautiful song ever! I listen to it weekly it reminds meof a love that i know will never die . As we all know true love never dies it only gets stronger!
@blacktuxcat miss mendrell is truly a tanlented women i have met her and did security work for her concert and became friends i am one of the president of her fan fair ,on coming up this june
I always like Barbara Mandrell,......used to watch them on television, saw them at the county fair one time. Although, I like the one that plays the violin better.....hahahahaha......at least back then.
My favorite song by Barbara...it now has more meaning to me...Kirk Cappello ( Barbara's Music Director/Keyboards and later Reba's Music Director/keyboards) was a good friend of mine and some of the words are now touching to me!!!
I just finished reading your comments regaerding your collie and can relate very well. I've had to put down five of God's creatures over the years and never thought how this song certainly does apply. If you can't love an animal and ghet emotionally tied with them, then you don't bleed and have no feelings. But only a dog lover would understand. Thanks!
I don't know you I don't want to throw a cheep shots at you but obviously you don't understand . How would you feel if you lost a best friend? I lost a best friend.
I wouldnt even dignify the cruel remark with a response. I think most in here feel your pain and can relate. My dog "darlin" is my best friend also. And I still miss my past buddies "stash" "peanut" and "conway" all special to me.
MY VERY FAVORITE Barbara Mandrell song ever! BEAUTIFUL, like her, "after all this time"... makes me think of me and my ex hubby and my ex fiance... tears.
Oh god, my husband and I are splitting up...after 37 years. I'm dying inside. We've tried for years to "fix" things and they're just not "fixable". He will always be a part of my soul, no matter what. I'm so beyond sad. know we love each other, but can't live together. I'm the one leaving our home, because he won't. I have to leave so much behind. I don't know if I'll ever get over this. Just too much pain.
I feel so sorry for you after all this years you would think that you made it. but it happens. wish you all the best and your husband hopefully you can remain friends. breaking up is hard to do. Boy now I sound like a song good luck :(
its up again...just search it. Think WN did it first but I wanna say Tammy Wynette did it as well...someone have more info? But BM's version here is stellar!
I have to agree with JoePilot...she IS drop dead GORGEOUS....and a voice to go with it...where are the Ladies in Country music like her? I haven't seen any lately. My FAVORITE song by Barbara...grab my guitar and play along.
amen brother.have you seen her little sis, louise?look her up on here singing "save me".it's only a pic of her and the song playing but she is also awesome.
With few exceptions, there are no "Ladies" in country music any more. Only skanks, easy marks, come ons, etc. It is a form of prostitution. If you don't have tallent, if you don't have creative material, if you don't have musicians that can actually play instruments, if you don't have a voice that can actually sing, then you have to sell sex. It's marketing that SELLS, but it doesn't really mean anything. Just another ad-man's idea of making money. Our country music as an art form is gone.
I am not a country music fan but this is a great song. It is about real feeling, honest feelings not plastic pretenses. Just crying a little here....a little sad.
What a Beautiful song and such a Beautiful Lady Barbara STILL is "after all these years"... this still makes me cry to this day, makes me think of my ex husband and I... great Good ole' Country song, a heartbreaker...
Could be, but I doubt it. If you've ever seen her live, she's a powerful performer. Glad I got to see her in concert on several occasions during the 80's and 90's.
To wetdog777: You have my sympathy, I know how it is to lose a faithful pet, family member or friend. I put flowers on my good friends grave yesterday and am still crying. It's hard to lose any loved one.
I'm writing to you with tears in my eyes. My dog also died she got sick and 3 days later she was dead. I fell asleep on a couch and 2 hours later I jumped up for no reason just to find her by my feet she had hard time gettingt up and yet she made it somehow to come to me. People that don't like animals will never know what it is like to have the most faithful companion. I buried her in my backyard and made a garden just for her. It was the only home she ever knew. She was 11.
I so agree with you. My animals mean everything to me. I have lost too many, I loved them all but I think that my Collie was my favorite. When he was about to die, I remember I was climbing in the kennel with him at the vet's office. I just about couldn't stand it. I will miss that dog forever. They all just love you so much. I think if a person doesn't love animals, there is something wrong with them.
I can't say how many old country songs like this one I have identified with concerning my lost marriage, in which I found it too late too mend upon separation and my wife's return to her former husband (didnt find out about until close to the divorce date). However, 3 days into the separation already spilling my guts out to her on the cell thinking it was at her mothers home. Nevertheless, we have a beautiful daughter together, which I have dedicated all my days off to seeing (I love her so).
sorry to hear the hurt in your message! Ive been hurt may times! Hearing these country songs help the hurt, but the pain never goes away completely! Thank the lord for these artist and songs.. sincerely a Barbara Mandrell Fan
This song reminds me of my brother. We were very young when our Mom seperated us and for the longest time all I had of him was a few pictures. The first time I heard this song I bawled for what seemed like hours. It took me nearly 15 "years" to find him and even though we are a 5 hour drive from each other we will always remain in contact. Thank-you to the songwriters, to Barbara and to the person who posted this video. If you are looking for a loved one, follow your heart even if it takes years
I saw Randy Owen do this song live and he sort of dedicated it to his mother in memory of his father who has passed away. Boy, was it a tear jerker. Does anyone have that version?

I came home tonight to find my 15 1/2 year old Golden Retriever had passed away. I watched this video five times, and cried like a baby.
With that said, how can I possibly thank you for posting it? You have no idea what this song meant to me at this very moment.
