  • From Space Captains to Captain Crunch :(

  • @MoustachesAreEpic take a look at Germany its like the best in the world

  • @ROONTANG HA!

  • I lolled so hard at 0:40. Poor rocket.

  • Cosmored3, conspiracy theorist aren't you? So sad.

  • the fire was started by velcrow at 17 psi in pure oxygen enviroment and a short sercuit

  • damn edward white D:

  • Why did you focus on Kalpana Whawla, if I may ask?

  • I am so sad when I see the really

  • Geeez, this Ed Herlihy news reel makes it seem like it happened a long time ago. Holy cow it wasn't that long ago. It's very recent history. Holy cow again!

  • @JetMechMA IN history terms yes not long ago. In human terms its a fair bit of time.

  • Seriously? Why does the Apollo 1 and Challenger accident happen on my birthday?

  • @MoustachesAreEpic

Seriously? You self-absorbed, useless, whiney little shit.

  • @krakenwave Well so-rry little prick, it's not my fault I had to be born on the 27th of January.

  • @MoustachesAreEpic youre the little , or fat prick prick probebly; F off and just stick to what Aussie convicts do best; beer and minority sports. Greetings from England

  • @1middlesbrough Mind you, we Australians don't need to steal off others just for food, our economy is WAY better than Europe right now.

  • @MoustachesAreEpic Coming from a fellow Australian, idiots like you give our country a bad reputation. Grow up, learn some respect, don't be such a self absorbed twat.

  • @ROONTANG It just sucks how this year, school started one day after my b'day. That's like the worst present from DET ever.

  • @ROONTANG

No, MustachesAreEpic contributes, b ut the people who perpetuate the idea that his opinions represent others besides himself are largely to blame too - and the ignorance of such truth that posts like this perpetuate.

  • @1middlesbrough On behalf of all Australians I apologise for MoustachesAreEpic's self absorbed idiocy. He's clearly a little cunt of a kid. However, don't go bagging an entire nation and calling us convicts simply because of one bad apple.

  • @ROONTANG Well said, Roontang. It's a shame this kid is letting down a rescpectable ally and friend.

    From Britain.

  • What's the accident at 0:39?

  • @xNateonx All those rockets in the beginning are unmanned tests. Some of them might be Soviet, I don't know.

  • TRAGIC ACCIDENT MY ARSE!!!

  • MRS SQUIRMING HATCH-BLOWER SAID THAT?

  • @SHM1953 Wally Schirra confirmed that he didn't blow the hatch. Read up before you speak.

  • @mrFalconlem Lighten up Francis.

iT WAS A LINE FROM THE MOVIE "THE RIGHT STUFF" when she called herself that.

But I dont get your point. No one can ever know how that hatch blew because it was a one man capsule and Grissom is dead

  • Two Mercury flights later, Astronaut Wally Schirra manually blew Sigma 7's hatch after recovery when his spacecraft was on the deck of the recovery ship, in a deliberate attempt to dispel the rumor that Grissom might have blown Liberty Bell 7's hatch deliberately. As anticipated, the kickback from the manual trigger left Schirra with a visible injury to his right hand. Grissom was uninjured when he exited the spacecraft, as documented by his postflight physical. Astronauts believe Astronauts.

  • @mrFalconlem Did they discover a failure mode? Surely engineers could rig the system using it's then current design to fail as described. One would think.

  • You think they would have given Gemini 3 the 1st flight to Gus Grissom if they thought he was yellow??? not a chance. Like I said read up before you speak, you obviously didn't think there were any more Mercury flights, stop besmirching brave hero's like Gus Grissom.

  • @mrFalconlem

Gus was a drinking pal, good-ol'-boy fighter-jock type that was preferred by the very same Deke Slayton. Deke gave preference to his boozing buddies, Deke got his way and Gus got his flight. Compare the fate of Scott Carpenter. Its no disrespect to be aware of the politics of flight selection back then in NASA. The fact is that the first 7 were spam-in-a-can and anachronisms by Gemini. Deke even fought against the very idea of sending scientists to the Moon. ASTP kept him sweet.

  • Where did you source this died from, some Islam propaganda website?

  • @Sp33dyD3m0n First learn some proper English, second this is a well known shuttle "crash" (Apollo1 crash), lastly, I think that's Thai writing.

    Get educated:)

  • @Rijstpapful Ah I forgot, there's the famous Columbia SHhutlle crash at the end. Very sad.

  • oxygen by itself does not burn.

  • They fitted a quick release internal hatch after this. Tradegy but it made space flight safer.

  • god speed to apollo 1

  • read dark side of the moon by gerars de groot - tells the story of the space race and how due to nasa obsession with space caused this tragedy!!

  • this is so sad. im doing a project about this. one thing about this clip that freaks me out the most it the music.. just makes everything sound way way scarier

  • @Ishi4eva i know right! the music freaked me out cuz i had the volume up really loud! haha

  • dat rocket came down hard, nasa can suck a dick, fuckin conspiracies, like 1st guys on moon, i belive dat , nasa jus makes up fake shit but wen it comes to death dey make it real, fuckin assholes

  • Requiescat in Pace!

  • R.I.P

  • That fucked up man. R.I.P ;(

  • OMG! OMG!

  • And now NASA wants us to go back to rockets like this...

  • wow thats realy realy horrible

  • @SAPD32Vlax: Callous, heartless and thoughtless. You must be young.

  • biedni

  • Thats horrible we should lay off the rockets for a bit

  • What about Challenger?

  • The Apollo was thought of as WORSE than the Edsel. During a splashdown test, the heat shield of the craft had split open, causing the command module to sink like a $35 Million anvil to the bottom of a factory test pool.

During one checkout run at the manufacturing plant, a disgusted Gus Grissom walked away from the command module after leaving a lemon perched atop it.

During the fire the cabin's pressure reached 29 Lbs. P.S.I. - twice sea level.

  • A terrible tragedy--three brave men gave their lives so others could reach the moon and complete the great dream.

  • What is this news reel release? this is like something from the 1940s.

In 1967 there was daily televisions news. Where does this come from ?

  • @xvoy2002 Not much TV was in color in the mid/late 60's.

  • @kmezo1 You're right,, tv was still mostly black and white,, but certainly didnt' show news reels like this. This type of news reel ended in the late 40s.

  • @xvoy2002: Universal Studios kept producing newsreels until the end of 1967---the last to do so after both Fox Movietone and Hearst Metrotone stopped in 1962. After then, Universal surrendered the copyrights to the public domain and donated the raw footage to the Library of Congress.

In the UK, British Pathe produced newsreels until 1970.

  • @SeanElGatoTelevision Thanks for the info. That's interesting.

  • to be honest this looked like an action movie but may them rest in peace

  • Thought of these guys today...RIP

  • I remember that. It was nuts to have a 100% oxygen environment with flammable materials. One spark was all it took. Gross design failure. Not JFK's fault - his time limit did not necessitate stupid risks.

  • @bill3209,

Absolutely....I remember seeing a program about it where another astronaut said, "Nobody ever stood up and said, 'Don't you people know what you've got, when you take 100% oxygen, and *PRESSURIZE* it?? You've got a **BOMB** sitting there!!"

  • I remember that. It was nuts to have a 100% oxygen environment with flammable materials. One spark was all it took. Gross design failure.

  • A tragic accident . Harrison Storms took a bad rap for this one and Joe Shea nearly went mad, It was no one persons fault. If you want to blame anyone, then blame JFK for imposing a time limit for Apollo.

  • well.. this was a HUGE fail.

  • In memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice so others could reach for the stars.

    Ad astra per aspera

(a rough road leads to the stars)

God speed to the crew of Apollo 1

  • R.I.P :/

  • Rest In Peace Virgil Grissom, Edward White II, and Roger Chaffee.

  • if we don't have fail, we will never have success

  • i went to the kennedy space center amazing stuff

  • I went to the kennedy space center amazing stuff

  • it just looks like rockets, besides they did not have color t.v

  • @ 00:38

    when did that happen?! :O

  • i dont see wth is with the space shuttle some shiny thing goes up flies flares are around then vid end wtf is th edisaster i dont get it

  • @MsKevin400 that was the 2003 space disaster. i believe ice set on the outside of the shuttle and this caused them to crash, however i may be mistaken.

  • You know, it's the same thing with the whole man on the moon thing. People are always going to think that everything is a conspiracy, or so on. Some of them, i believe, some of them i don't. I don't think this was. However i do believe that The JFK assasination was (though that in no way relates to this). Point is, that people don't want the answers they are given, and want to think that government is corrupted or is hiding the truth.

P.S My Prayers go out to those who died on Apollo

  • wow I searched for Apollo 1 and I got Malayalam, this is amazing

  • 0:38 What accident is this?

  • I still can't believe that they used 100% oxygen in that capsule with all the electric circuits on board. A flash fire waiting to happen.

  • @tryithere Next time I go to the moon, I'll come to you for advice.

  • @barrab I'm sending you a moon right now.

  • I cannot even begin to envision or imagine the absolute terror and horror those brave men must have gone thorugh. Truly tragic. The only thing I can say is that we did finally get out there and to the moon and I wish we hadn't had to have such awful things happen. Requesta en Pace, comrades. WE WILL NEVER FORGET

  • R.I.P.,Roger,Gus,and Ed.

  • @randomdude306 learn how to spell fucking kid

  • information if any man has saved NASA spacesuits from 3 astronaults

  • You conspiracy retards are retarded. Nasa wouldn't spend a million dollars to blow up three Astronauts, for whatever reason you idiots have. And Armstrong landed on the moon, the Twin towers were hit by terrorists, your all fucking dipshits and your head's are in your Asshole. You probably think the space shuttle Challenger was a conspiracy too.

    Other than that, R.I.P

  • @SpencerZettersten you are the retard

Nasa made $40Billion on the fake apollo 11 alone

and they had to murder guss grissom because he wwas supposed

to be the first man on the moon but he would have exposed the hoax

  • @2nasafakedit Lol please, just shut up. Don't be such a Rosie O'donnel

  • @SpencerZettersten get fucked retard

  • @2nasafakedit You know what, I hope I get "fucked" Why do you spam You tube with this nonsense? Do you think your going to change the world? Especially by commenting on Videos? If you think it's fake why don't you grow a pair and goto NASA yourself? Otherwise, your just spam, I'm sorry to break your heart.

  • @SpencerZettersten fuckoff kid, go fuck your flag you brainwashed idiot

  • @2nasafakedit Fuckin' it right now Rosie

  • for me, my generation, and their family"s . it was a huge loss. our memorys , and love, from one human being to another. will never fade.

  • APOLLO 1 was Murder

Nasa had to kill astronaut Guss Grissom

because he had integrity and he would never

have allowed nasa to fake the moon landings

  • @2nasafakedit You may very well be right. It is too much an amazing "coincidence." Add that to the space program guy killed by a train on his way to talk to a reporter about secrets of NASA's space program. Another amazing "coincidence." NASA Knows It Is A Fraud bankrupting the USA.

  • Hey guys, what's the name of the space craft around 0:38 and the one around 0:49?

  • this tragedy is revolting, stupid, absurd! these men died so tragically because of the stupidity and imcopetencia A few more of NASA technicians in época.Eles should never be forgotten, are heroes, martyrs! If they had died tragically in space even though it would be more acceptable, but in a test platform, is unacceptable! And the families? someone thought of the suffering now? I wonder how they are today and say the world will never forget the courage of these men! stay with god!

  • Holw many of you are tired of NASA Moon conspiracy theory? You know damn well with all the money invested in building the saturn 5 and too see it lift off...It's so common sense to know the rocket was no hoax! and that it was going somewhere besides orbit

  • Nasa murdered the astronauts on Apollo 1

because Gus Grissom was about to expose the Apollo Hoax

  • We will never forget all the heroes who died for the space program.

Because of them, anything is possible.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • @paparoach585 - they mean that they'll be GIVING a toast!!!!! yeish.

  • paparoach585 - they mean that they'll be GIVING a toast!!!!! yeish.

  • holy shit :O

  • I will never forget the day this happened.

I was a kid, but my dream was to be an astronaut.

    This tragedy ended that dream.

I still think about Apollo 1 and those heroes.

    God bless all three.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • talk about bravery... being some of the smartest scientists alive, these brave people still signed up for the apollo mission to the moon after all these deaths... truly brave and noble... i feel like i dont deserve the technology they pioneered for me... kennedy also paid a price for being the best president to the USA and all of mankind... obama keeps pushing for nasa funding and nazis keep wanting to assasinate him, i would take a bullet for him and the greater good of science

  • @wildboy789789 please do the world a favor take the bullet and stop typing.

  • @datzfast i need a nazi to shoot me... how about you?

  • @wildboy789789 blah blah blah are you feeling whiney today.

  • @wildboy789789 Obama canceled the constellation project and scrapped the already well developed Ares launch vehicles, the Orion crew modules, and the Altair lunar lander. Even Richard C. Hoagland (who was thrilled early on with Obama's perceived direction for NASA) recently said Bush was a bigger proponent for NASA and Space exploration than Obama is turning out to be.

  • @Woochaga hes lowering nasa's budget while we pass alot of the low earth orbit work to prive corporations... then nasa will set its sights for deep space, and after our debt is reduced we are gonna give BILLIONS to nasa (as of now i think nasa gets like 300 million a year)... its time to move on, i dont care about jobs or plans, its time to change our plans for the future

  • omfg thats what happend omg

  • @Kittyzink

Do the human gene pool a favor and kill yourself.

  • @aha45 fk u

  • 0:30 @pete

  • HA HA HA HA HA

  • What is the text? Thai?

  • what is the rocket shown in the intro which falls back down to the launch pad after going up like 2 metres?

  • Idk thats probaly a Russ rocket probaly :S

  • @doomrules it looks like a Dong strap on . just google

  • the russians were laughing then 7 years later the russians were crying then

  • Tomorrow, January 27th, please take a moment to honor these heroes at 6:31pm EST.

    I'll be drinking a toast.

  • I mean this was tragic no joke, but think about it NO Saturn V rocket, besides this one has killed anyone. So besides this and Apollo 13 it was a pretty good run. Look how many people died in russia trying.

  • This wasn't a Saturn V, it was a Saturn 1B -or "Uprated Saturn". And the booster had nothing to do with the accident. Shortly after Apollo 1, Vladimir Komorov was killed upon re-entry and later 3 other cosmonauts were were killed in their Salyut (Earth orbital mission) upon re-entry. I still have not heard if they lost anyone in their launch accident when their booster exploded (they ejected) but even if they did, our losses on both shuttles + Apollo 1exceed the Russians.

  • Yes, it was a Saturn V. I never said anything about a booster

  • No, the Apollo 1 rocket was a Saturn 1B. The Saturn V did not fly until Apollo 4. The Saturn V had a 100% clean service record. Too bad that NASA lost the plans :(

  • Um.....Apollo 13?

  • @JuliusScenester

    Exactly. Thank you.

I've been collecting NASA info for 40 years, but in several documentaries, archival footage of other missions has been used in place of non-existent footage. I think this is where some confusion comes from.

In Lovell's own words, the Apollo 13 explosion was caused by a 28VDC thermostat in the SM LOX tank being damaged by KSC's 65VDC during a de-tanking procedure after the tank was accidentally dropped. The Saturn V certainly was not at fault.

  • Well, no Apollo 13's SM exploded leaving the CM only for re-entry. And the SM only for protecting the CM's heat shield, and the LM as a "life boat". The reason it exploded, is because when the intense heat of compression mealted the wire insulation, (in O2 tank 2) and during a routine test in space; the sencond O2 tank exploded it damaged 3 fuel cells and sent the other leaking to the point where it couldnt be isolated plus it blew the panned off fuck congress for not leting us go to it again

  • True too. Due to limited space, I couldn't explain fully. Because the thermostat was only compatible with 28VDC (and not 65VDC) it was welded shut using KSC's power when they activated the tank heater system on the ground to purge the 02 (instead of the normal de-tanking process) after the tank was dropped. The high voltage thus damaged the heater wiring. Heated LOX = expansion, too.

"Consequently, when the tank was filled prior to launch...it was a bomb waiting to go off"

    -Jim Lovell

  • Yep.

  • @JuliusScenester Did they actually lose the plans to the Saturn V? If that's so, that is an amazing feat.

  • @luvofcountry You'll be drinking toast? "POWDERED TOAST MAANNN!!!"

  • @luvofcountry do you do that for every person who dies a tragedy every second of the day?

  • @dfl4701

Is that what you do every second of the day? Create conflict out of nothing? Is that what makes you feel important?

It's the mentality of those like yourself which makes me question whether we're worthy as a race to explore the unknown and possibly encounter life elsewhere.

  • @luvofcountry They were not heros, they were victims.

  • @luvofcountry How can you drink toast?

  • The jet fighter etc. have the emergency evacuation system.

It cannot be consented that the spacecraft that is the mass of the high technology doesn't have. It and the commercial aircraft cabin should also have the emergency evacuation system.

  • You display a shocking example of illiteracy in the English language, while at the same time attempting to spread a conspiracy theory. I can see why you believed that "rumer."

  • dont belive any thing just a comment.

  • You thick twat

  • u goota admit. the 3rd one was PWNAGE!

  • I understand that one of these astronauts was going to testify against NASA, then this occurred.

  • @Landrew120880 You stopped taking your pills didn't you ?

  • show some respect ppl

  • OMGBBQ

  • Owned...much?

  • Omg, poor astronauts who died. R.I.P

  • вечная память! memory live for ever!(from Russia)

  • what was the name of the space shuttle at 40:00???

  • It was columbia

  • You know, two things. First off, Cosmored can shut the fuck up, because it seems very odd to me that considering the claims of how much of a "conspiracy" it all is they would kill their own astronauts. You'd think if it was fake everyone would be kept alive, not ruin their own credibility by having a lethal accident.

    2) Does it strike anyone else that a hatch opening inward may be a bad idea considering the limited space inside?

  • Outward opening hatches are impossible to open in an emergency due to pressure.
