One thing is for sure though, 'Once' is the only nightwish album I am happy to play start to finish, repeatedly.
It's nice to see that they are now starting to work with their new singer's strengths. Tarja's voice was clear and high which did give them a very nice beauty and beast lyrical quality. However Annet's natural tone is more robust and there is a lot she has to bring to the table. Weather you love or hate it the fact of the matter is that every band evolves and grows. Grow up and listen to the older music if you don't like the new singer but stop being arses about it.

This clip already gives me a nostalgic feeling, it takes me back to the day this clip was released and we got to peek through the gates to the wonderful theme park that is Imaginaerum. That makes Storytime my favorite Nightwish song so far...along with Song of Myself, out of all their songs - old as well as new.
It's funny how people say Anette's voice isn't strong for symphonic metal. Let me tell you, Therion are the creators of this genre, and they had four non-operatic singers along their way. Doesn't that tell you something?

Got nothing against Anette, but her voice does not fit with metal, plain and simple, i saw them live with Anette (cause i will always support Nightwish no matter what) and could barely hear her voice. Her voice is not powerful enough. Listen to any Symphonic metal bands, they all have singners with powerful voice. Seing Nightwish live with Tarja was much better. I still like the band but it will never be the same.

Imaginaerum is a work of art that can't be appreciated by plain metalheads seeking only riffs and screams. This is pure music with real meaning. Beautiful orchestrations and choir arrangements. Wonderful album.

Nightwish's BEST album. And I have been a fan since the beginning of the band. They have broaden their horizons with new genres in this album, something Tarja could never do. Tracks like Slow, Love, Slow and Scaretale prove this. Sorry Tarjaholics, what makes NW is the message of the music, the cinematic approach and style and beautiful orchestrations, not a diva. They are trying to put something new on every album they release. If they had stayed with Tarja, they wouldn't have evolved. Cheers.

I love Nightwish but I was pretty disappointed with Imaginaerum. Out of the 13 tracks, I like maybe 5 of them. That's it. Storytime took a little bit to grow on me. I love I Want My Tears Back and Last Ride Of The Day. The title track is basically an orchestra version of Storytime but it's good. I don't remember what the other song is that I like.

You have no way to prove that you have listened more Nightwish than me and I learned/played (key and drums) about every songs of them and also tabbed/studied a lot of their songs.
Their best single since Sacrament of Wilderness. Storytime and the latter represent what NW is. Bombastic, symphonic, theatrical, epic, soundtrack-like, beautiful (which is something really hard to find in metal). This will be their best CD since Oceanborn, no doubt. I heard the tasters and they are just too much for words. Especially Song of Myself. First time I heard the choir I nearly scream from an epic overload. NW is still alive....
I really love the way Tuomas looks at the camera at 0:16 to 0:17. Its really hard for me to explain it, but I love it. Its like... nightwish hasn't made new material since 2007, and Tuomas is like expressing "we are back. I have my faith in Anette.We are back" sorry if I didnt explain it well.
Love this band so much...even without Tarja. I'm sorry there are so many Anette haters. You are entitled to your opinion, but I think it's great that she doesn't try to sound like Tarja and that the guys have embraced what she brings to the band.

@oceanborn1962 Excatly? I'm not sure. I heard the entire discography, so if you know what's the amount of songs they've got you'll know the answer to your question. The instrumental parts sound as NW used to, but the parts in which Annete sings (nothing against her, I just don't think she should've been the replacement for Tarja) have a sound which is much different from Poet and the Pendulum also, her voice in some cases gives the songs something that reminds me to pop songs
I can not wait to come out the full album, the song is perfect, god, why not stop comparing it with Tarja, both are different from head to toe, this album is historic and Nightwish was consolidated with the best metal band symphonic.

Looks like they wrote songs to suit Anette's voice this time as opposed to previous record. And yeah of course Anette isnt Tarja, few people are (Simone Somon being one of them) but that doesnt make Anette a bad singer.

A little too poppy in the melodies, but this is just the single, which will always be the most poppy and catchy song on any given album. Time will tell.

Tarja's tickets in los angeles were 30 bucks in much much smaller venue. They have to justify and make profit on their 1 million eurodollar project.
Anette got picked because the other 2 singers who were head to head with her didnt agree with NW's demand list. Tuomas talked about 4000 demos that were sent to them
Metal doesn't need an operatic voice, but a powerful one that doesn't drown in the music, not a bright, little-girl voice like this. Anette is not a bad singer, but ill-fitting for this type of music.

I heard whole song in a finnish radio channel today (Radio Rock). I liked it, like majority of the voters (theres vote going on if its hit or miss). More than 80 % liked it. Link to voting page below.
I think that with this album, the vocals will be better than in DPD. DPD was great but I think they learned more about how to ''use'' annette's vocal.
i got the chance to listen to the full song... i'm in tears! i've waited for, WE waited for 4 f*cking years and finally! i am not disappointed it was so much better to hear as a whole than this 49 second video, others might not like it... but i did, most of us did, admit it!
The full song is absolutely brilliant. Typical of Nightwish to make us wait four years for new material, and then when it finally hits us it's so genius that our minds can't handle it. I'm blown away and lost for words.
For all of you NEEDING to hear it, as of 15 minutes ago radio rip of the song is available to download.. It's ain't perfect sound, but it is good quality. All I can say is I loved it, different but still recognizable Nightwish. Can't wait for single and album to hit my country to have originals

Their best single since Sacrament of Wilderness. Storytime and the latter represent what NW is. Bombastic, symphonic, theatrical, epic, soundtrack-like, beautiful (which is something really hard to find in metal). This will be their best CD since Oceanborn, no doubt. I heard the tasters and they are just too much for words. Especially Song of Myself. First time I heard the choir I nearly scream from an epic overload. NW is still alive....

I really love the way Tuomas looks at the camera at 0:16 to 0:17. Its really hard for me to explain it, but I love it. Its like... nightwish hasn't made new material since 2007, and Tuomas is like expressing "we are back. I have my faith in Anette.We are back" sorry if I didnt explain it well.

And, despite what people claim, drum solos are the most involved, frantic, and complex to perform, especially on the spot. Every time I've seen them he usually gets an entire sequence to himself. @oceanborn1962 Excatly? I'm not sure. I heard the entire discography, so if you know what's the amount of songs they've got you'll know the answer to your question. The instrumental parts sound as NW used to, but the parts in which Annete sings (nothing against her, I just don't think she should've been the replacement for Tarja) have a sound which is much different from Poet and the Pendulum also, her voice in some cases gives the songs something that reminds me to pop songs

Tarja's tickets in los angeles were 30 bucks in much much smaller venue. They have to justify and make profit on their 1 million eurodollar project.
Anette got picked because the other 2 singers who were head to head with her didnt agree with NW's demand list. Tuomas talked about 4000 demos that were sent to them

And in 2011 they stretched the meaning of "Awesomeness" so far that you cant use that word anymore. Even a forking combo out of Epicness and Awesomeness wouldnt be quite close to what I feel when I listen to them!
