Keep up the Good wok just remember Give it your all! thats just what I do ...idk about anyone else but I started off the year with a previous PR of 36'2" from my freshman year of HS now my sophomore track seasons ending and I have a PR of 39' and I really want to get 40'+.
@ESPAR2A Season finally ended for me and I ended up scratching all 3 jumps in districts....(I disagree with the last call being a scratch) and 2 of em easily would have been a 41"+ but they were not recorded so i guess goals aren't always meant to be reached, but used as a motivation point to keep working harder. I WILL GET 43'-44' next year and i will train to be the best I can!
@ESPAR2A Same thing happened to me. I had a sectional championship and my first 2 were fouls. The last one was horrible b/c i had to do all 3 jumps back to back 'cause our bus got to the meet late... : (
well when i first started, my first phase was barely off the ground and my second phase was just a simple step, however, my third phase was my life savior to get a 30 feet in middle school. now in high school , i have to get higher on my first phase but it sabotauges my high second phase >.> i'm working on it though
I always rush my second phase and I can't seem to get the bound and height that you get. Also, my coach keeps telling me that in my last phase, I dont reach and my feet hits the sand too quickly so that costs me a foot or two. Any ideas on how I can fix that?
nice step! i cant get good form in my step, i over extend in my leading knee and dont get a good active foot strike, would you be able to sugest some drills to help fix this???
How do you correct a weak second phase? I am an excellent sprinter and long jumper, but I always collapse on the second phase unless I do a small first jump.
@milkjug1 you dont need to do a small first jump, in triple jump you do opposite of what you do in running long, you dont jump high when you take off, you go for distance and stay a little closer to the ground so you dont have as much downward pressure on your leg, and more energy propelling you forward
@milkjug1 u have to strengthen ur leg ur collapsing because your leg can't handle the force after the hop do a lot of single leg bounders on the weak leg but don't focus on distance so much to start off with, focus on getting ur leg used comming down after the hop, then increase jumping distance as strength increases
How do I make sure I consistently hit the take off board at the right place? I keep getting on the wrong foot. In PE I did it 4 times and only one was successful... 9metres40 and I know I can get a lot further.
@RobboAroso start from the take off board and run full speed bac toward ur run up start point, count ur strides as u run back til u land on the foot that u take off with, mark that spot, now, from that spot run toward the board counting the same amount of steps, this should get u where u need to be on the board u might have to adjust slightly by moving up, or back, but it shouldn't be a whole lot
well ima state qualifirer in the 110 hurdles but this is ma field event. my pr is 49' 7". im tryin to make it to like 55'. but your technique is good and maybe we'll run into eachother some way..idk :D
Wish I would have seen this before I competed in the WV senior Olympics this year-09. I would have entered (and won). Love the music! Usually, I have to mute some heavy metal crap:) GS
not bad bro, but make sure not to cut yourself short on the first phase by restricting your right leg from moving. and work on not arching your back on your last phase, it will make landing a lot easier
I jumped at a camp a few weeks ago for the first time ever and my first full approach jump that we did at the last day was exactly 14.05m. I am going into my junior year. My state doesn't have triple jump. Is that distance any good?
@jointheswateam stop being dumb...he siad his pr is over 50 feet, that doesnt mean he did at practice with a couple of steps thats ridiculous. It was probably at a meet
Ah, this is making me feel bad, lol. xD I just turned 13, an dI'm a girl and I only made about 7.9 meters or so. I made it into cities but only because I got lucky. xD There were over 100 people trying out and we had to get through all of them, so we only got 1 jump each. >=P Most of them messed up. xD Any tips for me? :(
Hey i dont know if that is good or not but at our school a 11 yr old girl jumped 8.00 which i thought that was a good jump for a 11 yr old because when i was 11 i could jump only like 9.10 and im a boy
um guys im 15, i turned 15 like 4 months ago in January, so im in gr.9 my best jump right now is 12.07, i beat my school record but i want to know from people around the globe if thats a good or average jump for my age. Please click Reply to my comment if you want to make a comment to my post :), TY
Oh and also, I hurt my heel REALLY bad during a triple jump but I don't know why. It's been preventing me to run for about a month and jumping for a month. I can now run, but jumping will only bring back the pain and increase the time of healing. I need a quick way other than just resting and icing it because I have to qualify for provincials next week. PLEASE HELP
hey, same thing happened to me back when I competed. my heels were killing me all season, I had to stop jumping and just ran sprints and relays instead. Years later my heels were bothering me again and xrays showed that I broke both my heels when I was younger, and it had to be from triple jumping. So you may want to go in and get xrays. Best wishes.
well latroy im not sure what i can do to help the pain but i can help you prevent it from happening, i do triple jump and im in gr.9, 2 things you should always do when doing triple jumping or even long, always stay on the balls of your feet, if you dont the same problem will happen, i dont mean tip toe, just make sure your heel isnt inserted on the ground as much, and never do triple jump in sprinting spiked, that will make it worse, hope i helped.
your school record is only 12.07? thats weak. unless you're in middle school still. but high school records are at minimum 13.7m or 45ft. thats pretty good for a freshman tho. good work..
Sorry, but for the triple jump, you are supposed to land flat footed, or slightly heel and than roll. If you landed on your toes you would collapse. Long jump you stay more on the balls of your feet.
Guys, I'm 15 and 16 in 3 weeks and my best is 10.59m which is 2nd best in my high school because our team is not big on the field events and my friend jumps 11.70m which is his best and he's the farthest jumper. Do you guys think 10.59m is average or below average for a Grade 10?
That's not bad. in the off season work on your core strength, run stairs which will really build up your quad muscles and work on your speed too.
when you compete, keep your steps as even as possible and make sure you've got your run up measured perfectly so you don't have to think about it. try to shoot for about 11.8 next season.
that's very low for grade 10. I'm a long jumper and I can jump 12m in triple and I never practice for it or do it. Most kids should be over 12m in Gr. 10 if you are gonna do it. I watch and lots of kids are jumping over 12, some over 13, and one kid is over 13.60
dude, elekticar. ur a liar dude. thats 42.9 ft. i doubt a 13 yr old can jump that. when i was in 8th grade(14) i was only jumpin 40'. rite now im 16(sophmore) jumpin 50'. if u lie try not 2 over exagerate.
yeah listen to you hypocrite, sophomore jumping 50? yeah sure there are only two high school jumpers over 50 this year and one is a sophomore. and i would say if you ARE marquise cushon you're pretty gay to be bragging over youtube
Dang!!! He's good!! I get like.... 7 or 8 step before i jump and you are still jumping 20 feet more than me! I feel.... ashamed of myself! Haha! But great form! Your a champion!
yeah i go to school in NY and used to suck at triple but i got to see gary jones jump and he taught me a lot(his best in college is about 53-55 ft) and i was able to improve from 30 ft to about 37 with his help but triple jump is so much fun kills your legs though
my results: 15 years 11,85m 16 years 12,93m 17 years 13,60m (10.german championchips u18) 18 years 13,97m 19 years 14,56m (10.german championchips u20) 20 years 14,11m my other results longjump: 15 years 5,79m 16 years 6,21m 17 years 6,51m(1st place german ch north u18) 18 years 6,97m 19 years 7,09m 20 years 6,79m
I started out my first year of triple doing 40 ft. and now I'm doing 42's (i'm a fatass so cut me some slack). Most important thing to remember is continuing forward momentum by striking the ground with your foot directly under your hips.
I am a freshman in college, and got 43 and an inch yesterday actually.. 3rd time ever doing it, and i suck at form, so that is good to hear. And it makes sense, i think that is how i messed up on my last jump, because my 1st phase is huge, and my foot probably got out in front of me.. but hey, i won conference.. yes, i go to a smaller school
hey man not a bad job keep up the work!! only major thing i would fix is getting your knee/leg up more on your third phase and then driving down to really get up in the air when you enter the pit. Otherwise not bad!
37 is not bad how old r u? I'm in 9th and mine is 38" flat. Our districts in PA is 34" I forget my long jump but my high jump is 5feet 8 inches and districts for that is 5 feet 2 inches
this kind helped me see some technique...but not enough, im doing this tomorrow for the first time at a meet. ive actually never even gotten the chance to try it...im good at the long jump but this i have no clue about...i actually really dont think ill make it to the sand lol
yo. i'm a junior, first time track jumper doing triple. I agot 37'4 with running shoes, probably no technique and not much confidence going into it. Is over 41 a possibility?
im not tryin to make u feel bad but last year as a freshman i started jumping 34' and by the end of the season broke my schools record with 41'4"...so yes, its very possible. its just technique.
Im also a Freshman and my very first jump I took without any practice, I got 36'. I don't know how your school's record was 41' because our district qualifying length is 42'. Hopefully I'll be able to get that next year and from there PA states.
I'm doing 12.mids (40-41') at the moment with terrible technique, i have around a 5.3 meter hop, a 3.5m step (couldn't stretch it out) and a 4.8m jump, if I could get my step out, what do you think I'd be able to jump?
Keep up the Good wok just remember Give it your all! thats just what I do ...idk about anyone else but I started off the year with a previous PR of 36'2" from my freshman year of HS now my sophomore track seasons ending and I have a PR of 39' and I really want to get 40'+.

03Ranger4x2 2 years ago
Yes Thank-you,
but I know never to jump on my toes,
but I do tend to hit the ground really hard on my landing, and I use Triple Jump spikes so it has a cushioned heel.
I guess I'll just find a new technique
Still after 3 months, it prevents me from jumping normally,
I'm going to go for an xray.
Thanks man

If u jump so well, why don't you go from the 36" board?
AYOGARLIN 3 years ago
yeah...a lot of people would say the same thing but some people just feel more comfortable jumping closer to the pit for their last jump
amarcus756 3 years ago
some of highschools varsity standards are low. I go to Hillsborough and our Lj is 38'6", lj is 18'6", an hj is 5'8"
Olliebum75 3 years ago
I started out my first year of triple doing 40 ft. and now I'm doing 42's (i'm a fatass so cut me some slack). Most important thing to remember is continuing forward momentum by striking the ground with your foot directly under your hips.
flamefeet521 3 years ago
I am a freshman in college, and got 43 and an inch yesterday actually.. 3rd time ever doing it, and i suck at form, so that is good to hear. And it makes sense, i think that is how i messed up on my last jump, because my 1st phase is huge, and my foot probably got out in front of me.. but hey, i won conference.. yes, i go to a smaller school
calebbajackson 3 years ago
w.t..f...how do you get so freakin good at this...
silverstream789 3 years ago
I saw Marcus Smith from West Allis Central in WI get 48'10.5" a few days ago. He has one of the top 4 or 5 trips in the state history.
sonofamaggot 3 years ago
California has guys going at or above that mark every year, marks like that are damn impressive for high school athletes.
Bagingito 3 years ago
damn, well there's a lot more talented people per capita in places with bigger populations like Cali, NY and such

i jsut did MEET and man my legs hurt!!
nigsplzz 3 years ago
hey man not a bad job keep up the work!! only major thing i would fix is getting your knee/leg up more on your third phase and then driving down to really get up in the air when you enter the pit. Otherwise not bad!
japrussianjew 3 years ago
hey nice vid. i could definately see i was doign my first phase totally wrong. wuts ure personal best? and ure in high school?
firecrotch10 3 years ago

nateyuan92 4 years ago
37 is not bad how old r u? I'm in 9th and mine is 38" flat. Our districts in PA is 34" I forget my long jump but my high jump is 5feet 8 inches and districts for that is 5 feet 2 inches
mmaarrkk11 3 years ago

HEY BRO. you are a beast. congratulations!. I think you`re gonna be a world class athlete. I`m a long distance runner.
Andythefunkman 4 years ago
yo. i'm a junior, first time track jumper doing triple. I agot 37'4 with running shoes, probably no technique and not much confidence going into it. Is over 41 a possibility?
yao11ming4mvp 4 years ago
im not tryin to make u feel bad but last year as a freshman i started jumping 34' and by the end of the season broke my schools record with 41'4"...so yes, its very possible. its just technique.
badkid1275 4 years ago
38'11= current PR
yao11ming4mvp 4 years ago
Im also a Freshman and my very first jump I took without any practice, I got 36'. I don't know how your school's record was 41' because our district qualifying length is 42'. Hopefully I'll be able to get that next year and from there PA states.

I'm doing 12.mids (40-41') at the moment with terrible technique, i have around a 5.3 meter hop, a 3.5m step (couldn't stretch it out) and a 4.8m jump, if I could get my step out, what do you think I'd be able to jump?
HandyTheXxxX 4 years ago
i got 35' as a sophomore but i never did it quite right so i'm hoping on 38-40 this year
