There is a lot of misconception of a great singer. It's not a matterof you reach a high note or not; sometimes singer try hard to keep a high note and end up screaming which is really bad. - good example is Cook.

The bottom line: How you interpret and deliver the song and how you connect to your audience on your delivery.

It's more of a CHILL FACTOR.

David style is more on SIMPLICITY, INTERPRETATION, DELIVERY AND CONNECTING TO HIS AUDIENCE.

That's what make him a GREAT SINGER !

But to bash David Cook's singing based on an ignorant opinion you have is rude. If you were to relate anyone from AI to your comment about screaming it would be someone such as Adam Lambert. If you mistake the sound of David Cooks voice for screaming I suggest getting your hearing checked.

Both David's are amazingly talented and both have huge futures ahead of him.

Tedder did in fact sing this on key. Whoever is claiming he did not simply does not have an ear for an organic sound, but rather have become accustomed to the processed sound you hear on the radio. Tedder's talant surpasses idol guy's by miles. His collective talant is untouchable. The other guy won a contest because he can sing and his fans, on the show and on here, are 12 year old girls who have a crush on him who were able to vote for him from their parents phone.

People forget... David is only 17 years old. His voice is still developing. A Man's voice usually starts changing/developing by the age of 16 and doesn't mature for several years later. Think about it, if he is this good now, just wait until his voice is through developing. He will SO nail the notes that others seem to criticize him for not being able to hit yet. Give him some time & you will be blown away.

As long as the tonal quality is consistant, it won't matter "how low he goes"... :) A baritone or bass voice stays "quality" much longer than a tenor or alto. Tenors and altos lose it when they get older. Elton John and many others come to mind. Davey is just getting started. He (in my opinion) will be another that "should have won" on AI and didn't.
