First of all, I'm not rich. Second, I probably know the world better than you do. Third, you couldn't "straighten" me out if your life depended on it. A more effective method of protest would be non-compliance with the system. It's simple, if enough people just blew off work and stopped buying things for a week of two then the government would be crushed like beetles beneath our heels' - We would win without a single act of violence or vandalism...

It's refreshing to see a news report which actually shows more of what it was really like.
The police kettled over 1,000 protesters in a confined space from about 4pm until darkness. Every so often the police would close in tighter and tighter, attacking anyone in their way.
The police wanted violence to happen - and they would keep everyone there until it did, just so they could get their biased press coverage.

i understand where you are getting at, but i don't believe the frontline officers are in control of the wider scheme of things like you think, most of them probably were told that they had to expect a violent protest because of the intense media reports leading up to g20 and their superiours. However i do believe that certain elements of the violence was intentional, such as the rbs bank being completely free from shutters yet off licences weren't.

The reason anarchists wear masks is to avoid being part of the illegal databases that the police gather at protests. Example: they will search you under section 60 for weapons. You do not have to give your name but they will go through your wallet and take it regaurdless of weather or not you refuse to give it.

What I find hard to understand is how anyone who wasn't there can form an opinion based on a fews seconds of (often) highly biased film footage : if you weren't there then you have no idea. Of course there were idiot protestors, but out of 5000 20 were arrested, so less than 1%. I suspect those who so readily form an opinion without first gathering lots of information formed their opinion based on those of openly biased tabloid news agencies, Aljazera is not a terrorist agency

Most people are watching every clip they can find - filmed from more angles than any single news agency could ever muster.
I think we have more to base our opinion on than say......oh Irak, or anywhere there is fighting. You don't need to be in Irak to know that children getting bombed and blown up is anti-human.
Beware - not all demonstrators are on the same side. There are many self-serving and state serving players involved

I don't think most people are watching evry clip they can find: more likely they are just looking for clips which support the views they have already formed due to bias and prejudice.
Iraq is a terrible analogy, I fail to see any paralell.
People can form opinions but to believe so strongly in their own righteousness without actually being at the protest is phalacy.
Any so called violence at the protest was more often athn not insighted by police action,

Without us the right to protest would diminish and then where would the police have been last year when they protested over insufficient pay rises. I particularly enjoyed the comment by the bloke who deplored the violent protestor behaviour and then went on to suggest that anyone who broke a window should be shot, some discrepency there.

Anyone on here hurling insults in either direction has no useful point to make. To the people worrying about cars and windows: what about the bloke that 'died', who apparently just collapsed where the police just so happened to have their battens drawn and were hitting protestors. He just 'passed out' unbidden by any action. Enquiry needed. I was there, I look 'like a freak' and there for have no right to an opinion? Protestors represent their own views and defend everyones right to protest.

I detest protesters that claim they are protesting for the people. First, protester never represent me or the general population. The only thing protesters offer are violence, irrataion and causing the local government to spend money on patroling the streets. Notice how the majority of protesters are left-wing freaks. If protesters claim they are speaking for the people, then why is it that your protest lead to traffic jams, street closures and preventing people from getting to work?

First of all, I'm not rich. Second, I probably know the world better than you do. Third, you couldn't "straighten" me out if your life depended on it. You see, unlike most of these protesters, I actually take responsibility for my short commings. I have invested in an IRA, 401k and I make a decent wage to maintain myself. You see, I work to earn money. Protesters think that the rich are the cause of all there problems, but the reality is that they want to blame someone else for there problems.

I do like Bill clinton, but he had a disastrous foreign policy. By the way, I hope you realize Bill Clinton signed a bill to give the US the authority to remove Sadam Hussein. By the way, I am not saying governement is always right, but protesters are not always right either. Let me lecture on the string of republican preisdents. Nixon had a n econimic surplus and was the first president to pursue foreign relations with China. Not to mention he wanted to end the Vietnam war. Ronald Reagan fixed the economy left by Jimmy carter. Also, Regan gave immigrants amnesty. Bush Sr. entered a war with world support and manage to work with the world.

You want to know why europe has so many protestes like the one in London? Because europe is afraid of there own people/. In the U.S, the local governments are not afraid of there own people. In fact, they authorize police to use non lethal and lethal force. Thats the reason why most protest in the US are peaceful. Its time Europe begins to do the same thing. Use llots of tear gas, smoke grenades and rubber to lead bullits. Things would be different.

Aljazeera airs threat videos by terrorsists. They have locations where these videos can "anonymously" be dropped, but won't give up the location or identity of the people dropping them, which could very well lead to the capture of Bin Laden.
