The thing that bugs me about Twilight is what a loser Edward and the Cullins are. Why are you still in HS if your over 100 years old. Don't you have something better to do? I'm reading Breaking Dawn again and I never stop chuckling at the banter between Jacob, Leah, and Seth (My favorite little character in the whole book.). Leah breaks my heart every time. Bella is SO STRONG. Women decide all the time to bring their children into this world despite the risk to their own life. My mother did. She had Lupus and had already lost one baby. That baby's name was Rosetta...Rose, ironically. My mom was told SHE would die next time. Well, I'm here. She didn't die. :)
That's why I adore the character Stephenie created so much. Bella has faith. She believes in magic. :-) She loves unconditionally. When she makes a commitment to something she never falters, even when it hurts her (sometimes others, unfortunately). She puts herself last most of the time. She's smart. Even when James was tracking her, she was the one that insisted on and figured out a way to protect Charlie. She is one of my favorite heroines in literature, now.
Unfortunately, I think the qualities that Bella possesses aren't ones that the targeted audience can appreciate, yet. I think when you get to be a mother, like Stephenie, or when you get to be the age we both are ( in our 30s), you start to respect the qualities this character possesses. They don't seem so old-fashioned, or anti-feminist, when you fall in love and get married for real, or you have children that you would die for. Or, like Edward, watch everyone you love get sick and die.
Stephenie Meyer, you need writing classes BADLY. A true writer always second guesses him or herself, always the toughest critic, and always humble with their fans and fame. A true writer knows when to stop describing a sparklefuck's washboard abs, and dive into actual plot. A true writer READS and LEARNS from published literature and then uses their spark to form new ideas on an old concept. Any person who thinks Buttercup and Wesley are idiots is an idiot. You bring shame to writers!

I have never, in my life, stalked them in any form and ranted about how I didn't like their work. I either closed the book and stopped reading, or gave the book away to someone I thought would like it. Push comes to shove, I give it to the library. I understand criticism. That's fine. Everybody's a critic. Whatever. But, these people are crazy.
The books motivated many of my students to read and they have improved so much in their comprehension levels it's astounding and they are now are reading novels by many other authors.

I just read the first book and found it sooo boring! But I also saw the movie to it and found it good, moving and intersting. So I think actually she did a good job with inventing this story and these characters, but there is something about her writing style that makes reading so hard. I mean, so many details which are boring and to nobody important...

I forgot to mention Meyer's MANY scientific inaccuracies. Such as.. how was Renesmee born? If vampire venom acts as their sperm, shouldn't all of Bella's eggs been fertilized when they first had sex? (This comes from the fact that the venom petrifies the gollums until every cell in their body is a facet-that's why they shine. Therefore, the venom would have reached her eggs and petrified her.)

The thing that bugs me about Twilight is what a loser Edward and the Cullins are. Why are you still in HS if your over 100 years old. Don't you have something better to do? If I wrote Twilight I would have said to myself, wait a minute, why the fuck would anyone go to HS at that age? WHY? He could have been a recluse that lived in the woods, that would have made more sense than a 100+ HS student. OMG, am I crazy, I can't fathom being that old and studying the same shit year after year.

I'm reading Breaking Dawn again and I never stop chuckling at the banter between Jacob, Leah, and Seth (My favorite little character in the whole book.). Leah breaks my heart every time. Bella is SO STRONG. Women decide all the time to bring their children into this world despite the risk to their own life. My mother did. She had Lupus and had already lost one baby. That baby's name was Rosetta...Rose, ironically. My mom was told SHE would die next time. Well, I'm here. She didn't die. :)

That's why I adore the character Stephenie created so much. Bella has faith. She believes in magic. :-) She loves unconditionally. When she makes a commitment to something she never falters, even when it hurts her (sometimes others, unfortunately). She puts herself last most of the time. She's smart. Even when James was tracking her, she was the one that insisted on and figured out a way to protect Charlie. She is one of my favorite heroines in literature, now.

Unfortunately, I think the qualities that Bella possesses aren't ones that the targeted audience can appreciate, yet. I think when you get to be a mother, like Stephenie, or when you get to be the age we both are ( in our 30s), you start to respect the qualities this character possesses. They don't seem so old-fashioned, or anti-feminist, when you fall in love and get married for real, or you have children that you would die for. Or, like Edward, watch everyone you love get sick and die.

Stephenie Meyer, you need writing classes BADLY. A true writer always second guesses him or herself, always the toughest critic, and always humble with their fans and fame. A true writer knows when to stop describing a sparklefuck's washboard abs, and dive into actual plot. lol...There have been plenty of books I have read that I absolutely loathed. I hated the characters and thought they were poorly written. I have never, in my life, stalked them in any form and ranted about how I didn't like their work. I either closed the book and stopped reading, or gave the book away to someone I thought would like it. Push comes to shove, I give it to the library. I understand criticism. That's fine. Everybody's a critic. Whatever. But, these people are crazy.

I just read the first book and found it sooo boring! But I also saw the movie to it and found it good, moving and intersting. So I think actually she did a good job with inventing this story and these characters, but there is something about her writing style that makes reading so hard. I mean, so many details which are boring and to nobody important...

I forgot to mention Meyer's MANY scientific inaccuracies. Such as.. how was Renesmee born? If vampire venom acts as their sperm, shouldn't all of Bella's eggs been fertilized when they first had sex? (This comes from the fact that the venom petrifies the gollums until every cell in their body is a facet-that's why they shine. Therefore, the venom would have reached her eggs and petrified her.)
