This Brother was ahead of his time!!! Here we are in 2012 and Kashif is dead on the beat with some serious rhythm that's worth listening to. It's real music!!!
This was a hot dance track at a club called Top Flight back in my hometown, Montgomery, AL. Alabama State Uni., has a radio station, WVAS and Kashif was a mainstay of the play rotation. Kashif visited there a few times as a guest professor for the Music Department. Those were my days of wine, women and Kashif. Thanks for the memories Kashif and congrats to you on your University and all that you are doing for foster care children in Marina Del Ray, CA. God Bless You.
This is without a doubt one of the all time Greatest Classic R&B records ever done. I thiink he poured everything he had into this record you can just feel the spirit and love that's still there and this record is approaching 30 yrs old. AMAZING
For all who posted that this brilliant talented artist was underrated, I agree. This piece really takes me to a spiritual place in a haunting way. It's hard for me to describe the feelings that still today come over me.
It's an instrumental.... he was actually nominated for a Grammy for this song. If I remember correctly, he was up against many other great artists that year ('83-'84), like Jeff Lorber, Herbie Hancock, George Benson....
He's a true visionary. As with so much of the music during that period, the "B side" tracks were the ones we truly fell in love with! Kashif is a truly, truly underrated artist. Am I the only one that feels the music we listended to back then made you more laid back and introspective? It made you think, and want to be the best you could be. Just listen to the production value he put into not only this great tune, but just about everything else he did! Simply brilliant!
Dude thanks for posting this. I used to hear this chune ages ago when I was a kid and it got stuck in my head. I finally found it after 20+ years thank you so much!

@bornin1968a Funny you should say that because this reminds me of something Herbie Hancock would do.
