  • amazon wins this round!

  • I want one of these to carry in school to read, it's lighter than books these days.

  • it is just like going back in time of PC ATs LOL :D

  • to bad that it diden't focus well

  • Can you download E-Books from the net and then transfer them to your E-Book reader or do you have to buy them to stick on it?

  • Outrageous the fact that when I started reading my first five minutes with this gadget it froze, stop working. A bad quality product, slow processing, weak contrast. Not expecting an answer because it seems the support is equal to the product, no information about problems with the product.

    Thanks anyway.

  • this guy is using his anus to talk i think, what a voice !

  • I just got the money to afford an e-book reader and so far, this one has impressed me the most. I have just a few questions though, that I would really appreciate if you answered. Can it read normal pdf files (w/o DMR), and if it does - do the letters of the page adapt to the screen or do you need to zoom in (like PSPs do)? Also, does it have a bookmark option? Does the screen reflect light? Does the battery really last that long? Io you have to pressure the button "uncomfortably" to navigate?Thx

  • you have focused the wall and unfocused the device. I dont like the video

  • lol it looks just like the Elonex ebook 600eb

  • 3 weeks!?!?!?!? WTF

  • @WatchCharmedOnline i knwo rigth. hhahha i think he reads slow hahaa Xo

  • well i want one for a long time but i cant afford it!!

btw im waiting for a one in color so i can read comics too!! but that device will be expensive too when it comes out. maybe an good idea to save for the ipad. ive studied economics in the ninethies dude. why r new things r that xpenive while they r very simple to make? because ppl r greedy assholes?

  • why r these thing so expensive. they look they aint harder to make then an mp3

  • @vrietmet , perhaps it has something to do with principles of economics - you know the supply and demand. Feel free to google "supply and demand". ;-)

  • The guy on video seems to hate this e book , and his jerky hand movements are very annoying and distracting, the e reader is jumping all over the place ! hey if you're gonna sell something guy , please like it .

  • indeed

  • Sony's reader is "cooler", lol.

  • more like glare

  • im glad i got this for my mom for christmas :P

  • Excellent, thorough review - gave the most info of all the Cool-er reviews I've seen so far.

Doesn't mention the doodle feature (you can draw / write on the screen) so I guess that wasn't on the beta version shown here.

The 2010 3G model is going to be able to download "over the air" as they say in Britain - whereas the current version requires a hookup to a PC or Mac.

  • can you zoom in onto the text?

  • You can enlarge the text on an e-book, if that's what you mean. Mr. Pogue of the NY Times complained that it took a lot of clicking through menus to do it, though. He also said that you cannot enlarge a PDF, which displays to fill the screen size and on such a small screen, that means text "the size of atoms" - well, pretty small, anyway.

I would wait to see of the next generation (due out summer of 2010) addresses these issues before you decide whether to buy one or not.

  • Agree with eha1990. In all the video review I've watched on any book reader they just show some basic page turns in specific ebook formats like ePub or Mobipocket and never show how you see and manage PDF files on 5 or 6 inches screen.

  • @vdicarmine, the current Cool-er doesn't handle PDFs very well at all. They only appear in very small print.

  • How does the Cool-er handle PDF documents? Could you post a video of the Cool-er displaying and PDF document like a textbook in PDF form?

  • eha1990,

Not very well. Wait for the next version to see how it does.

  • all files have to be loaded via USB or SD card -- PRETTY BIG REVIEW OMISSION!

  • Yes, pretty big.

However, for me, the SD card is a big selling point. It means you own the books (unlike Kindle). No one can reach into your account and delete books without warning. And you can share books with your friends (again, unlike Kindle).

  • would have been nice if he showed the smallest size font

  • Seems ok.

But for me it seems as if landscape-mode is upside-down. If landscape was turned 180 degrees you could navigate with the right hand instead of the left.

  • refresh rate is looking faster than the kindle

  • @daxx2k it's linux system that's why. I think most of are but this one I think it's one of the best, simple and I've never heard anything bad about it

  • Non-standard headphone jack.... fail.

  • mq3500,

Don't be silly. The headphone jack IS standard - for England!

You know, it's an island somewhere over on the other side of that big wobbly thing where mermaids live. They actually have PEOPLE there (can you believe it???) And, amazing as it sounds, they have technology of their own! Even more incredible, it's not made to please Americans but to conform to their own systems (somebody call National Geographic!)

    Americentrism = big ol' fail.

  • Same with Australiacentrism.

(ha ha. your silliness made me just assume you were from my country - we have a lot of it here, too.)
