It takes cajones to cover one of Van Morrison's most raw, stripped down songs, improvise through most of it, and rock the shit out of it. It's beautiful. Bravo!
Tom played this at Red Rocks this week. I was so happy cause I heard it for the first time off his new box concert set and thought it was one of the best songs ever. Hopefully he will make this a staple for the tour and beyond!!
A friend of mine told me he prefered tom petty when he was "in his prime" , which i think is stupid for tom petty will always be in his prime, i mean cmon look at him live hes still and always will "have it". TOM PETTY LIVE AND ROCK ON FOREVER!!!
Mr. Petty is an excellent showman and a pretty good guitarist. They performed this at the Gorge Amplitheater last weekend but, I couldn't find any footage for this song from that concert. It was one awesome concert, Tom and the Heartbreaker's always do their best each and every time! Love ya Tom Petty!*****
As a longtime fan of Van Morrison's let me tell you for a fact that Van wrote this at 18 when he was with Them. Check it out on Wiki, I just did and they have an article about how Van came to write it.
Why would he do this at end of tribute to Bo Diddley? It's nothing to do with Bo Diddley!!!!
Great , magic , fantastic ,......awesome music

To belittle an artist of his stature because of the inevitability of age -- when he rocks so freaking hard each show is bizarre to me.

I've seen them do this song twice live. Amazing both times. Thanks for posting this great piece of American History.

I see the surviving heroes of my time begin to slide.
Soon the Rock experience of the 60's and 70's will join everything else and become history.
I search for the real thing and am reeling from 30 years of schlock, Where is the greatness?
Now that new and trendy has replaced greatness.
The fan or consumer just wants new, and will accept crap temporarily. Then new similar crap can replace it on their iPod, so no harm done, right?
Raise your standards!
Heartbreakers are the REAL THING!

I am also 59 and also was in the pro end of R&R .
What This band does is "Bring The SHOW"
They embody all the most significant factors that make a Rock Concert such a compelling and magic experience.
I was a tough convert. Fortunately I had the wisdom to listen to my woman and pay better attention.
I find this to be the best Rock experience I can depend on.
Every show delivers with EVERY SINGLE NOTE THEY PLAY!
Missed the classic rock era?
This is the real thing. True showmanship.
