@mostlyanthony i read that this song was made in 1988? well maybe i'm wrong. But marillion sucks hard without fish for me. Its the same when gabriel left genesis....
@RezzKalozzTV Well, that's a matter of taste. Give me Hogarth over Fish anytime. Fish is negativity, Hogarth is positivity. But anyway, this song was already written in 1985 and ended up as the b-side of the single "Lavender". Maybe you thought it was made in 1988 because then a live version was released as a single A-side.
In most people's universe, Misplaced Childhood and its hit singles are an absolute joy to behold. In mine though, things are just a little bit better: on 18 November 1985, Freaks is released as a stand-alone single instead of Heart of Lothian, providing Marillion with their 3rd UK top 10 in just over 7 months. Paradise. :-) :-) :-)
@wasted6666666666 ...saw them at the Edinburgh Playhouse when they toured the Script album. Giesabun giesabun giesabun giesabun :-) very, very underated. yes, I am a gettin' old bastard...
This song is really great, so powerful, meaningful I can't believe that it was a B side to, after 20 years still rocks, Fish one of the greatest Progresive Rock Singer!!!
heard this song when i was 14 or 15 , still love it !

after this song fish left... and marillion died...

@RezzKalozzTV Wrong. Marillion didn't die, and together with Fish they still made "Clutching at straws" after this song.

This song must be heard at nighttime, staring at the stary sky in a creepy park either stoned or drunk (or both actually).
