  • now its 4 yrs later since I stop taking the diet pills I gained back the weight

  • I didnt loose much weight at all . 9 months after the surgery I had only lost 15 lb.Then my Doctor prescribe me phenteramine diet pills. Then I began to loose 40 lb then It stop. @ yrs later my weight is the same . No more lost but maintain.

  • I had RNY myself back in 2007. This surgery had failed me.

  • You must deal with the psychological reasons of why you over eat. Surgery only solves the physical problem(s). In the end, Carrie gained most of her weight back because psychologically it was a too drastic change of lifestyle. Unfortunately that happens to a lot of people who go through with the surgery. Trying to eat 1/2-1 cup of food daily for the rest of your life is unreasonable and unhealthy. Carrie is a beautiful and talented woman just the way she is. Self-discovery = weight lost.

  • She is and will always be hotter the fatter she gets.

  • She's still one hundred pounds thinner. I don't call that a "fail". One hundred pounds is a LOT of weight! She's still healthier than before and should consider this a set-back and get on with it!

  • Carnie is a pig.

  • No, RNY "didn't let her down" - she clearly has zero willpower. She whored out her (then) expensive op but had no intention of following its requirements.

When you live to stuff your face, you'll get past any restriction. Especially if you can then whine to the tabloid media how discriminated against you are for being a fat-fuck, yet are one who uses her "weight issues" to further a TV career and name-value. That failed so now she does the "I-blame-my-family shtick on the usual chatshows

  • come on Carnie-stop blaming others!

You have no desire-You were at your goal weight and what happened Carnie? What Happened?

Every Doctor or professional that you saw for this surgury told you IT WAS A TOOL. The only thing that turned out to be a tool was you-as in tool meaning IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • RNY didn't let her down..the surgery is a TOOL..it's also up to her to eat healthy and workout..there are alot of people who have has surgery and mantain there goal weight for years..it's not about the weight it's about not dealing with your feelins and using food as a comfort

  • She needs to eat vegetables, fruits, whole grains, nuts, seeds, beans, greens.... basically eat healthy foods...and do moderate exercise.. and she will be a lot thinner AND healthier!

  • It really is ashame that my aunt put on weight. I don't think that I ever got a chance to see her when she was thinner!! Oh well, it's not like I see her that often any way.

  • The duodenal switch is the best weight loss surgery procedure. dsfactsdotcom

  • people with eating diorders are like alcos they never let you know how much they ate they never share food its a sad thing to be anover eater

  • Gee doctor Rutledge, you wouldn't have any financial incentive for providing us this "Educational Video" would you? Let me guess, you're a surgeon that just happens to perform an alternative kind of gastric bypass.

  • HOW did she fail?! She's 200lbs, so is still 100lbs smaller than she was! ANYONE who gets the Gastric bypass is told that they lose 60% of their excess body weight and that after 2 years they will regain a small amount. Carnie is still OVER 60% smaller!! She was 300lbs & lets just say she should be 150lbs. So she needs to lose 150lbs to reach her ideal weight. The gastric bypass gets rid of 60% of the 150lbs extra, so that is 90lbs. She's lost 100lbs so she WINS. She lost more than 60%!

  • Losing weight regardless of tool use is only part of the equation. You have to take a look at yourself as a whole being not bits and pieces here and there. There is no one size fix all tool out there. You need to look at why you put on the weight in the first place, how long you have been over fat & address those issues and like it or not until you make up your mind that it is a permanent healthy lifestyle change is required or your never going to succeed. Old habits are poison. Remember that

  • god damn it just excercise u lazy bastads.. i'm fat too but i can loose it by excercising.

  • Unfortunately, it is not the surgery that fails, it is the person. Gastric bypass is just a tool, you still need to make lifelong changes. I have just started the program, and probably will not have surgery for 6 or more months. But, I can't wait, I am so ready. The surgery will just be a jumpstart and a crutch. I completely understand that I will still need to do the work. Looking forward to getting back to the gym after surgery, when I will be able to.

  • You should really re-phrase what you say. RNY did not let her down, Carnie Wilson suffered from a ton of emotional issues and she needed to get that taken care of before having the surgery because RNY does not "fix," everything by itself.

  • I know she likes weed. That very well may be the cause of her eating so much.

  • Ya know...even tho she didnt get to goal...shes still minus 100 lbs...i wouldnt say she failed...id say she didnt use the "tool" she was given to its fullest potential....and it dont matter cuz she still is a hottie....she should get revision to the Duodenal Switch..if she wants to lose more weight

  • Carnie-Huge fan of all your shows. You r a beautiful girl. wish you would try brisk walking w/a best fr. that way u can talk, complain, get frustrations out at the same time-mental/physical therapy. Then u & Rob w/get along better in every aspect of marriage/life. Excercising i/a grt. mental medicine. Try t/stop using ur past troubles for excuses for today. LET IT GO Demand urself t/try someth. different. D/it f/ur girls. Th/need their mom around many years to come. You are so adorable.

  • Carnie is the bomb! She is more beautiful even at her heaviest weight than most women at their thinnest!! Being sexy is an energy, and she has oodles of it.

  • chelsea told her like she seen it!! 'you ain't gonna lose it eating that s***!!!' im so glad she said that!! carnie is soo pretty!!!

  • when was this???

  • Carnie's weight aside (many big women are sexy), could she scrape off at least her first layer of makeup?

  • Carnie Talks A Mile A Minute... Slow Down!

  • Chelsea said it all "You're not going to lose it by eating that shit".. lol

  • YRS FROM NOW SHE WILL BE SAYING ' IWAS INTERVIEWED ON THIS SHOW AND I WAS TRYING TO JUSTIFY THE WEIGHT GAIN BY SAYING 'AT LEAST IM NOT 100 LBS MORE'. Learn from the past, people.

  • It's sad that cases like this are what get the attention. I am 18 months post-op gastric bypass, living a new life with healthy habits after having lost 173#!! SHE is the exception to the surgery.

  • Hmm... 18 months

Think of every celebrity RNY patient.

Roseanne Bar, Carny Wilson, Al Rocker, Charlie Weis, ...

All are more than 2 years after RNY and all have gained most or all of their weight back.

I hope you will do well.

Sadly if you fail RNY is dangerous to revise...

  • It isn't 'their' weight, u people use such squirmy phrases.

  • @DrRRutledge Yes, we know you like your mini gastric bypass, yadda yadda yadda. But you KNOW that the ONLY way to gain the weight back is to eat like you did that put the weight on in the beginning. I've had the RNY and have kept the weight off because I didn't go back to eating like a pig. Your high-profit MGB plugs in the same physical limitations as the RNY, and can likewise be sabotaged, and you know this! Quit with the RNY bashing, Dr. You come off as a used car salesman.

  • @DrRRutledge - You're something else, doc! I had the (evil) RNY 2 years ago. Goal in 6 months (110 lbs off), have maintained a 1300 calorie-per-day diet with 70g of protein and 64oz+ of water as the basis EVERY day. "Celebrities" like Wilson are the WORST example of patients as they refuse to CHANGE their excessive lifestyles. Wilson became pig by eating like a pig, and is a pig again for the same reason. Do the math: change lifestyle, change life. You ARE what you EAT! I eat right & love it!

  • @rexxcarz Why do you call it the "evil RNY" ? If it's helped you, why not appreciate it?

  • @DrRRutledge roseanne is nowhere near as fat as as they once were carrie wilson said it herself , she is 100 pounds thinner than her max weight. the surgery doesn't fail you. You fail the surgery. it wont make u skinny and that is it, once your body has lost all the weight it could with the surgery it is up to you to use this tool to keep it down and be healthy.

  • @DrRRutledge Thinking of the celebrity RNY patients does not give one a clear view of the outcomes. The fact of the matter is that people who are morbidly obese and lose the weight on their own (without the aid of surgery) will have gained back the weight (and then some) 95% of the time within 2 years. However, those who have surgery will have gained back SOME of the weight (not all!) have an 85% chance of successfully keeping off the majority of the excess weight. Those odds are better.

  • Clearly a food addict. You could treat heroin addiction by sewing the fingers together so they can't hold a syringe. Same thing.

  • Moooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

    hahaha

  • nixon... piiiiiiiiiiig. Are u insulting cows? We love cows. So you aren't insulting. What is so funny is being mooed at AND whistled at by men at diff stages of life.

  • I bet she had purified fatty foods. if you have a RNY bypass. It will tolerate some fats also you will have more of a chance of eating more, because it is purified so hence she has put the weight on. I don't think the doctors or the operation has failed her,as comment's above say as-well. She has failed to follow guidance and a healthy living lifestyle, she knows she should have had followed the dietary advice continuosly

  • Exactly! The surgery is a tool, it's up to the user to effectively use it. The treats she brought with her might be a hint as to what happened!

  • oh the weight the weight shut up. 4 ''mooooo'above 'ooooooink' to you . mmmm.. this food tastes SO much better than you. When u taste as good, they will stop eating. EAT NO SUGAR OFAST FOOD OR CHIPS OR FOR ONE SOLID YEAR LIKE I DID AND I DEFY YOU TO TELL ME U WONT LOSE THE LBS, I GOT DOWN TO 125.. IT IS TOO HARD WHINE WHINE! GROW UP DO IT! ' I DONT LIKE TO EXERCISE I DONT LIKE PLAIN FOOD' TOO BAD! SO SAID MY MOTHER AND SHE IS STILL 120 LB FTER 43 YRS OF MARRIAGE AND THREE KIDS.. THANK you!

  • THIS IS SHAMELESS

  • wow, the other girl tried to take the plate, and carnie held on tight!

  • wow

  • She looks beautiful at either body size. You are all forgetting that people who are shorter are going to look bigger . 175 at 5'10 man is thin, on a 5'3 frame, 174 looks bigger.

  • She failed her surgery, the surgery did not fail her. She made very unwise choices (alcohol, for one, that she has admitted to). The surgery is a TOOL -- you are supposed to learn healthy choices along the way and commit to a new, healthy lifestyle. ALL weight loss surgeries, even your MGB, can have the same re-gain results if the patient fails to follow a healthy lifestyle.

Dena (20 months postop and loving a healthy life!)

  • she looks beautiful..end this terror to her body!!!

  • Yep, real educational!

  • oh, so she's still a great big fat person?

  • I know a few people that have had the surgery and put on pounds again. When they eat they eat the wrong foods and eat often so it doesn't take along time to pack on the pounds again.....Surgery takes it off...don't be fooled that it will keep it off effortestly forever..you still need to make smart choices...she probably didn't make smart choices...

  • Actually the kind of hernia she is talking about is very common, a naval hernia. It is a genetic defect that people have at birth but doesn't develop till later in middle age when people put on a few. Women also may develop them from pregnancies. They are not that dangerous and can be easily patched up.

  • She had a BABY or two babies? I don't know, but that's pretty much the kiss of death whether you were thin all your life or 300lbs. Adopt. Seriously.

  • All Carnie did was justify the weight gain. According to her it's ok because she's not as fat as she was before the surgery. What's with that!? Fat is not her only problem.

  • the reason some people fail the bypass surgery is because they have food addictions. this surgery is good for those whose bodies just absorb too much fat and calories from anything they eat...its kinda blocks that from happening. but if you have an addiction you are gonna throw down the food, no matter how sick you get from it.

you can restretch the new stomach.

  • Heavy or skinny, Carnie is sexy. She's got such a cool attitude and seems so down to earth. That's sexy.

    ----------

I wouldn't go so far as to call her sexy but cool? Yes!!

  • Cool is sexy and sexy is cool.

  • That's your opinion not mine!

  • @jimdoire she has an attitude that is going to lead to disability and an early death. It is not about looks its about that she is killing herself. Sad to see you think that is sexy.

  • The bypass didn't fail, she did.

  • amen i agree

  • CAn the surgery be reversed?

  • Not that one - revised - not reversed.

  • it can be reversed to an extent, but you'll never get the intestine back that they had bypassed.

  • it can be reversed to an extent, but you'll never get the intestine back that they had bypassed.

  • no.

  • Does anyone know the technical difference between the typical bypass to the minibypass?

  • Carnie's not a "failed RNY."

  • She's a typical RNY.

  • Just look at the stuff she brought. I don't think she's a typical RNY, she just needs to stop eating that shiznit like the lady said.

  • But, she is the "typical" RNY. According to most stats, she fits right in.

  • RNY patients typically quit losing weight at about 18 months and then regain. It's just reality.

  • And also I believe she had a drinking problem. That doesn't help at all.

  • She admits that she was an alcoholic. Those empty calories help no one.

  • It's a known fact that alcohol puts on the weight, and puts it on fast. Plain and simple.

  • Sure enough.

  • Where's my post? I lost a post that said I saw you on OH. Oh well, i'm sure it'll pop up somewhere on here later lol.

  • It'll show up later. I just had to re-load the page to get this box to show up. Are you an RNY'er or future RNY?

  • She is sooooooo fkn' HOT!!! When is she finally going to "get it" about her weight? She's worse than Oprah....

  • She's gorgeous at any weight!

  • @zev007 gorgeous or not, she is killing herself with that kind of weight. She is heading toward disability and an early grave. If you cared about her you would want her to get and stay healthy.

  • @zoopu gastric bypass isn't "staying healthy" fyi.
