Cesc is not coming back home until next year. He'll be a good replacement for Xavi once he turns 30. I agree on that. But Barcelona striker has to score AND press the opposite team defending. Henry was way more skilled than Etoo, but Etoo was more used to press than Henry. Anyway, Barcelona offense is also based on position switching, so at the end of the match the 3 men forward have played in all the positions.

Look at last champion's league final : Valdes, Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Puyol, Pique, Messi, ... 7 players out of 11 MADE in Barcelona since they were 10 or 11 years old. I don't think that ANY CLUB in the world can tell us anything about making good player.

Pires won a league in France and made himself known to the world 4 years before going to London.

But he was not playing def midfielder, as a matter of fact he was selected in the sub17 national team for the S17 WC in 2003 , before signing to Arsenal, winning the mvp and best striker individual trophies.
Cesc was already playing in his position in both squads (barça and the national team). I agree with you that barça had trouble (a lot of trouble) few years ago, but we didn't change our scheme or playingstyle. This style was decided by Rinus Michels in the early 70s. There may have been some managers who haven't used this, but most of all have. It's been almost 40 years now, that is why this is a sign of identity of our club.

Just look at that first touch by Bergkamp at 3:11 .......that one's not in many of his highlight compilations and it should be, just a sublime touch. yet another youngster whose career was "kick started" by DB10's golden boots....hard not to look good getting a pass like that, the first touch from on high from the toe of "God".
