  • I must say, the Family album was a classic. The segue of High Fashion into the ultra-funky Mutiny is too good for words and of course, what is for me, the definitive version of Nothing Compares. St Paul was a top vocalist. I wish they'd have had a second record but the St Paul solo albums were pretty good too.

  • I have the original vinyl of their debut!!! I bought it new in 85 and i still have it!!

  • MINNEAPOLIS!!! I like those catz back then!!!

  • i still have this album on cassette. i love it. completely under-rated classic. i would love to have it on CD, but since it has been long out of print, its really hard to find a good used copy without paying an arm and a leg. what ever happened with the Family 2.0? i never hear anything about it anymore.

  • where's the clap???? Jerome Damn! u kill me when ur late on the clap! (lol)

  • They better work!

  • So what's the latest? Fans wanna know. Kitchens and garages are great, but when can we buy tickets to a show?

  • The Album was so regal for it's time. Esquite taste written all over it, great concept.

  • I'm just so hurt right now that was just the best song of all times

  • love love love it!!!!! keep it up guys!

  • why did they take the video off...this si my song

  • the only thing you could think of writing next to jerome benton's name was "of the time" ?? :P come on! it should be like this: jerome benton - jerome benton

    haha

  • where's the original video...was posted on youtube previously...did warner gestapo put the smack down

  • One of my all time fav groups and song Sreams of Passion.

    Thanx 4 sharing,

    Zheahra

  • I had this back on the day. Loved it soooooo much. I bought the album and had it transferred to cd before importing it into I-tunes. My life is better with this album on my I-pod. Fantastic , particularly Screams of Passion

  • This is great!!! That whole album was slammin! I played it a million times, but I can't find it anywhere, used to have it on cassette.. Can't wait for that reunion come thru

  • They were the first to do "Nothing Compares to You" made famous LATER by Sinead O'Conner - that song was banging in 1985

I think Prince (who wrote it) also did a remake of the song himself

  • u a bad muthafucka quest!

  • As per usual, you bring a smile to my face n joy to my heart ! Great stuff ! Thank you...xo -c-c-

  • "SCREAMS OF PASSION" IS ONE OF THE 'FUN-KEY-IST' JAMS THAT WAS EVA MADE IN THE WHOLE WIDE 'HISTORIOLIGICAL' EXISTENCE OF THE WHOLE KNOW (& UNKNOW) 'INTER-PLANETARY' GALACTIC AND STELLAR CHARTED (& UNCHARTED) INFINITE UNIVERSE(S)!!!!! . . . and I kinda like it! :) I lose my mind every time I hear it(and this little 57 teazer made me have a got-damn uncontrollable conniption!!!) william Anthony smith, Jamaica, NY funk revolutionary! . . . thank u 4 this QOOLQUEST . . . i humbly bow b 4 u!

  • I love this song! This is one of my favorites growing up!!

  • Are they back??? I'd love love love to hear more from them and I mean new stuff. "Screams Of Passion", "Desire", "River Run Dry" and of course "Nothing" (their original recording IS the definitive one) are classics to me.

  • Short duration but incredible, superb and improved version of "The Screams Of Passion" by the artists formely known as "The Family" and now known as "The Family 2.0" or "Family de Luxe". Whoever has the complete recording of this video?! We want the full video please!

  • sooner or later i am going to break down and spend big money for the original release. i owned it as a teen, not knowing that it would be such a rare gem twenty five years later...THE SCREAMS OF PASSION, full version is on the GIRL 6 Soundtrack. its a bargain for that song alone. i can't recall the last time i heard "DESIRE" "HIGH FASHION" &, the Family's version of "NOTHING COMPARES 2 U"... i understand Prince protecting his artistry but the diehard fans are starving for The Family!!!

  • Hey!...Where is Miko Weaver?Remember the songs"Mutiny"&"High Fashion"...Miko on guitar.

  • that right there has to be one of the most skipped over groups (Along with MADHOUSE of course) of all time. If you ever wanna dig find St. Paul's original version of "Nothing COmpares to You" it will bring tears.

  • they still got it!

  • Hey Paul where was Jerome Benton? I noticed he wasn't there.

  • yes, he was. at :28 or so

  • That was a band that should have gotten more popularity back then. That :57 seconds of video from their 1985 hit was better than the most of the garbage this millenium

  • I would have killed to see this. They were an awesome band.

  • OMG!! i wore OUT my 45 of "the screams of passion"!! DOOOOPENESSSSS!!!

  • wow i almost cried that was amazing shit i felt it deep ah

  • Há mais 15 anos comprei LP e me encantei! E hoje? Eles ainda tocam?

  • Jerome and St Paul still looking as slick as ever ha ha :-)

  • Paul Peterson is a teacher of mine, he's an AWESOME guy.

  • Love it! They all look good!

  • "The Family".

My favorite album of all time!

Always been a St. Paul fan!

    Awesome to see them back!

  • WOW! I, too, would have loved to have been there as well. I also would have loved to chat with all them, and also talk with Wendy & Lisa as they are BUSY!!!! Scoring, "Heroes", movies, and other projects. I wonder if the Family is going to do a new album? And if so, will Prince be involved? I still have the first album to this very day on 12".

  • St Paul Peterson is so HOT!

  • I had a chance to buy the cd at the old NPG store in Uptown 13 years ago, and it was selling for about $28? I can't believe I passed up on it. Oh well, this song is a beautiful classic. I have a version of it on the "Girl 6" soundtrack, and I also have the original album on vinyl. I wish I had the cd.

  • I got the cd on ebay

  • I bought their Japan pressed CD not too long ago on eBay (cost me $125).

I loved The Family back in the day. I remember that I wanted to buy their tape, but it cost $13.99 and as a 15 y.o., I couldn't justify the cost. I had to settle for a bootleg instead. :)

  • this was so good....i almost cursed...

  • i would've LOVED to have occupied a corner of that set. That was off the chain!!! Thanx for the post.

  • What a collection of talent!! They sound great and truly appear to be enjoying themselves. Love It!

  • Classic ass song!!! This is a rare treat!!! Cudos for this gem!

  • WOW!!!! that song really held up well. This record was released in '85

  • Thanks - any news from a european tour!?

  • That's hot!! The Family debuted when original music was embraced and enjoyed. Great to see the ties between the members are still there and beautiful music is being made. Can't wait for more.

  • My jam!!! Oh my gosh..that is the original band!! Thank u thank u!

  • I heard this song on live365 and I started tripping. I use to have this tape (for the young ones before CDs there were cassette tapes). I remember this song so good; we (me and my cousins) use to walk down the street with our boombox listening to them, prince, L.L. Cool J, and so on. Wow! This brought back some good and seeky times. :)

  • unbelievable, ALL the original members are there!

  • "ho meh in yo arharmsssz bay-behhh, tell meh thad'u luwv meeeeeeeeeeyeh".......Well, that's how i would have sang it. Hoping he could put some soul into that song by nah. Just a some humor people so don't get mad, just enjoy that revival there.
