i was there on this great day standing at the finish line on the infeild with my dad on probally one of the greatest days of his life . i was 10yrs old . only now do i truly understand what i saw. thanks for the vid , i wish my dad was still here to see it .

Yes, I'd really like to hear Dave's call of that race. Mr. Georgeff had a unique style; I really enjoy it.

Thanks for sharing, cf1970, I concur Phil Georgeff's call was strong per usual. I liked how you picked up the call from his signature "Here they come spinning out of the turn..." A nice touch indeed!

You are very welcome, kind sir. I enjoy Mr. Georgeff's calls very much, and was happy to be able to edit it into this footage. This race call is from the record "Secretariat: Horse Of The Century", and the producer, Dave Johnson himself, made a point of it to start it off with Phil's signature line.

Wasn't it though? Secretariat made it look so easy.

This race is on YT, but only with Chris Schenkel calling from the network booth with Mrs. Tweedy and Lucien Laurin adding their comments. I simply inserted Phil Georgeff's track call into the existing footage that I have. As usual, Mr. Georgeff's call was terrific.

So is this before or after the TC?? The announcer calls Secretariat a super horse, so it sounds like it was AFTER the TC.

You really can't appreciate just how fast Secretariat is traveling unless you're there. This is one animal I would have enjoyed seeing.
