This video is awesome. I love the audience! I saw them live last year and it was a great concert, but the audience wasn't quite as wild, which I would have prefered... Oh well, I guess that's what happens when a band's main audience becomes forty somethings.
@filmsnoirs ....tell me you're joking? This is TFC at their very best. I saw them on Dec 7th 2010 in Camden and their version of "Everything flows" rocked just as much as this marvellous version.
Um, 5 months later, this is still one of the best songs on YouTube. So tight, and then the feeling ... The 30 May version is good, but this is fast, and has clear audio.
the only real similarities between dino & the fannies is the 'i don't care what you think about how i look' attitude, stoned slacker singing (particularly on the 1st record) and meandering leads (particularly on this song). J is a much better guitar player, but fanclub wrote some of the catchiest, timeless pop songs ever
This is the TV show, and the clip, that got me into TFC in 1989/90 I think. A bloke from my school is in the front row. I think this was at ULU or somewhere small in London.
This is just a marvellous song and I've loved it for two decades.
Anyone coming on the Camden Crawl on May 1st to see the boys?
Fantastic song - even better than Sparky's Dream, 'specially the guitars on this live version (despite the technical probs up front) ... (great comments about 10 down)
olympia is fabulous, great pot, great music, plenty of cool art.
still lots of forward thinking nonconformists of every age. it a big gathering place for people like that. im just so thankful to know that there are young people my age that dont think and do the same things as every other american. it has brought me hope to live here.
Dans 20 ans, je l'écouterais avec la même émotion...morceau culte... fantastique...trop peu de concerts en France!! Cela fait plus de 15 ans que je vibre au son des TFC...
do everyone from Glasgow say "sort of" that much, or are they just introverted & nervous? btw- i spent a few months in Glasgow and it's sooo much like Portland, OR. coolest, smartest, brokest musicians..
i think they are just camera shy, they were still pretty underground at that point. yeah im live in Olympia, WA, and it the same SORT OF thing, everyone plays music, makes art and is brooooooooke.
there´s an unbeliavably beautiful acoustic countrysh version of this song in a promo cd called the tfc have lost it! or smtg like that... by far their best acoustic ever!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Kinda bland... and I like catchy pop/rock... but this is missing something. They don't sound all that original. I hear something they do and say "oh that sounds like pixies" or "that sounds like dinosaur jr" ...even "that sounds like the byrds" but I don't say "that could only be teenage fanclub". A shame... they play well.
Roland, I'd have given my right arm to be in that band. One of the best to come out of Scotland.I don't think thats the best vesrion of whats an amazing song right enough, and no, I am not Brendan! I have SLIGHTLY less hair. haha.
The Garage, Highbury, London, Autumn 1990 (Oct / Nov... I think). I'm in the front in white, curly hair - get a kick in the head from a stage diver at 2:13!
I never saw this! How awesome are they? And to say that Neil Young and Dinosaur jr and sonic Youth, etc. are influences, truly awesome. They never got the credit, air play respect that they deserved. And real props to ColossaYouth having great taste in music.
All I know is I absolutely love both bands and Neil Young and Sonmic youth and a lot of Hardcore includoing Minor threat, bad brains, black flag, tales of terror, DoA, MDC, etc.
tell me colossal where can i get a tales of terror cd. mudhoney covered one of their songs on their new album which is a corker by the way!! minor threat black flag bad brains etc are legends!!
try your local record store or if your really really despreate, you download it from the evil itunes music store. but only as a last resort, cause theyre EVIL! i havent heard much of the new mudhoney album yet, i did see them live rectly though. AMAZING SHOW! they played a couple from the new album, but the only one i can remember is "I'm Now" which was alright.
bandwagonesque and nevermind were both released in 91 and spin magazine delcared that bandwagonesque was the better album in their end of year best album poll. and to be honest they were right!!!!
i thought the tales of terror album was deleted. and i have the mangled demos cd and i love the sleeve notes ( small town gossip is always a joy to read!) and the two gormless djs who announce the melvins are a hoot!
@metal1313 The thing that pisses me off about Spin Magazine is when they had their 90 best albums of the 90's issue Bandwagonesque was not in it. How could the best album of 1991 that they voted for not be included in the best of the decade? Don't you think mathematics would deduct that it would atleast be in the top 10 assuming all the other years in the 90s produced better albums right? I think Spin has been dodging the criticism for not choosing Nevermind in the first place.
@flmglps spin probably have different people writing for the magazine now and they have their own take of what was good in the 90's. either that or the stupid lazy cunts bowed down to pressure, not stuck to their guns and conveniently not bothered to mention teenage fanclub whatsoever. anyway its spin magazine i have not read that rag in years.
Overall, 1991 was the best year for albums IN MUSIC HISTORY. If one were to revision-ize, Nevermind would have a difficult time cracking the top 15. Bandwagonesque, on the other hand, has aged much better and is still brilliant two decades later.
By the way, anyone who thinks grunge was born in Seattle is either completely ignorant of, or worse, dismissing Vancouver Canada. Also part of the Pacific Northwest, and home to the likes of Slow and Sons of Freedom -- who were out-grunging Cobain's trio years earlier. The self-titled Circle C album was actually buried by Geffen in order to make way for Nirvana. Check out Sons of Freedom's 1991 gem Gump.
For someone who doesnt like Teenage Fanclub, you sure do spend a great deal of your miserable existence following them around and slagging them off. You fucking cunt.
met them at Other Music in NYC bout a decade ago. nicest guys who perfectly mix technical abandon with melodic excellence. their music changed my life.
