A great song indeed. But Dreamscape is capable of composing & performing songs that are superior to this. Songs like End of light (album: End of silence) and 5th Season, Phenomenon (album: 5th Season) are true masterpieces.
@knumorvid there is always someF@#$@# ASS@#$@ Like you f23uc32ki3ng sh|t up for ppl... this is DREAMSCAPE idiot, leave symphony x alone-----we all know you wanna show how much your jagging off self knows about BANDS, but maybe thats the reason why YOU CANT GET NONE, FAG.
Circus Maximus have awesome singer I agree. And they are one of the best bands I have ever heard, even though they released only 2 albums yet. You can also check out Beyond Twilight, Eyefear or Mind's Eye. They are all awesome prog metal bands.
1. Your reading my comment 2. Now your saying/thinking thats a stupid fact. 4. You didnt notice that i skipped 3. 5. Your checking it now. 6. Your smiling. 7. Your still reading my comment. 8. You know all you have read is true. 10. You didnt notice that i skipped 9. 11. Your checking it now. 12. You didnt notice there are only 10 facts Copy and paste to 1 video, tomorrow will be your best day ever! no matter what
ATM I'm laughing my ass off. You say that as if there were 2 or 3 progressive metal bands in the whole world. But there are dozens of bands out there that play prog metal and are comparable to DT in the quality of their music.
Here's a start:
watch?v=lf23Vr504v4 (has at least 8 parts)
watch?v=i0KTWJ6UW7A (at least 9 parts, though many bands are the same as above)
and what says against a sryle like dream theater?"
What DOES it say? No, I mean really?? Your statement makes 0 (zero) sense.
IMO it's simply wrong to take a band like DS and say "they sound like DT/SX/whatever", since they have their own, recognizable style. They sound like Dreamscape.
But if I had to compare them to DT and SX, I would definitely say their style is A LOT more similar to DT than it is to SX.
Being influenced by a band while drawing in other influences from other bands is what most bands do, but this is almost theft it sounds so close to Dream Theater....even the name. Obviously very skilled musicians, but isn't one Dream Theater enough??
DS do obviously bare some significant DT influences, of which this song is one of the best examples. But they did evolve something I would call their own style. Meaning I can tell their songs apart from DTs. Unlike when I listen to "I Walk Beside You", in which case I usually think "what's this U2 track doing here?".
Besides, DT themselves no longer sound like this. They used to in their old days maybe. I really like the stuff they recorded back then. Now DS provides a convenient alternative.
Love the fact that there is another good prog singer out there that doesn't sound like a faggy little girl singing falsetto crapola. Great prog bands are fairly common, great prog singers, not so much and he doesn't even have the metal rocker persona, just a killer singer. Great pitch, great range, great tone, and awesome control. That, all by itself, makes them worthy. I heard his gone though and that kinda sucks!
Bands who mimic are those which are shit. All mainstream rock artists of today gain none of my respect because of it. Dream theater are heaps better, even if Fates Warning were pwering on before them both...
I have already heard Cynic's music (the Focus album and their early demos), and prefer the music of King Crimson, Gorguts, and the Japanese duo Ruins. Nonetheless, I will check out the new Cynic album once it is available to the public.
Food and music are sensual/artistic creations. Neither are hammers that either can or cannot drive a nail into the wall or stainless steel coatings that either do or do not resist rusting. Food enters the mouth of someone testing it and that someone will either like or dislike it. Likewise, music will enter a person's ear and he/she will either like or dislike it.
Since music is not a tool for a special function whose effectiveness can be measured, the "quality" of a musical piece is completely based upon the listener's preferences and impressions.
good point, I admit. some say d.t. doesn't compare to metalica. others say the opposite. sorry for offending U...if I did. I like them. U don't...But if they played where we were and they were with others that we both liked, we could just enjoy it. what we write hear doesn't mean we would necessarily booo or hoorah one or the other. IMO, I'm happy that you like what you do and I hope you don't have a problem with what I enjoy, unless it's RAP(LOL)....Then I WOULD hate you.
dreamscape rulezz!!! i saw them in their concert in prag with symphony X ! it was so kewl... i really like them...
typondis doesn't have a clue, because they're nothing special. shit, they would compliment D.T. &/or s.x. too bad they just broke up to form other bands, they'll be missed, but mostly their other songs that we can't access here will never be heard by us...unless we buy their C.D. overseas or ?
I really don't see why you need to be so offensive on a clearly benign video site. If I think this band sounds like another why does it concern you in any possible negative way?
lol? negative way?? you really think that it is negative? :D i just wrote "my" feeling,so its the same as if you wrote "I think this band sounds like another" ...lol
This band is awesome. What a great sound, the drummer looks a little drunk in the backstage footage. We need more bands like this around. Too cool. Hopefully more music to come from them.
I love this band and was lucky to see them at ProgPowerUSA in 2004! I was in that crowd at the beginning of the video! lol! A spectacular performance! Hubi Meisel used to be in this band too! Great musicians all around!
i love this band. i have two of their cds, Very and the End of Silence. they are absolutely amazing, and although i was a huge dream theater fan, i like these guys better now.
omg they're awesome an you can see (or rather hear) the inspiration from Dream Theater. One thing about these guys; they're music seems more epic than dark which is a nice spin on things. Don't get me wrong the, metal is dark but if all metal bands where like that i'd lose my mind so bands like this and dragonforce that put a new tone to it really are inspiring. That and they give the finger to everyone that says Metal is crappy, satanic music ;p
i saw this band live this past saturday at progressive powerfest UK. prior to it i had only ever heard just 1 song by them, they aint too documented at the moment. I can tell by their band name and Jan's vocals, that they are seemingly influenced by Dream Theatre
its an armband, guitarists and bassists use armbands and scrunchies occasionally to keep their strings from ringing. It's like muting but a lot more subtle
Holy crap. This is the best band I've seen in a while. Dali's Dilemma which I discovered on last.fm was good, but these guys are better. I've always loved Fates Warning's style of progessive better than Dream Theater's due to the more focus on the song as opposed to the vituosic solo section. Dreamscape seems to have figured this out as I have. Thank you Andre Daris, for you have figured this out as I have. You , my friend, rule.

Straight up. I hate mainstream music with a passion...a passion of the christ.

I have moved on. Dreamtheater have way too much talent and can't use it properly. Black Metal is the way for me, the darker themed the better.
