  • Randy takes this to another level... I've always felt in the Burton-Randy equation, Burton needs Randy more than Randy needs Burton to be at the top of the game.

  • Great video. Randy Bachnman on lead guitar. Amazing!!!!!

  • Fantastic!

  • Ladies and gentlemen, a warm, space age welcome if you will for the most phenomenal group of the century, Ricky and the Balloons!

  • Thanks for uploading, but this IS NOT from the 1997 reunion tour. This is from the Running Back Thru Canada Tour in early 2000. I have the DVD and it is awesome.

  • Hernosísima música memorable

  • Some of those faggots can really sing, eh? L-L!

  • Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot, Bryan Adams, Bruce Cockburn, BTO, Dan Hill, Neil Young, Mike Reno, Burton Cummings...Canada has a rich vein of musical talent.

  • They sound great..all of em'...Garry's tight as ever ..but Randy B... HolySheeit!!!

  • Very few rock lead singers have a voice which is both brilliant and original. Robert Plant is one but Burton is probably even greater. Simply amazing!

  • I am pretty sure that this is from the 2000 Running Back Thru Canada tour, and is available on DVD. Bill Wallace and Donnie McDougall did not play in the 1997 concert and they are quite visible to the viewer's right of the stage here, so it can't be the 1997 reunion concert.

  • @gvbezoff Is true. This is in the year 2000

  • I think you're all a little young to remember when the Guess Who played at the White house for Ronald Regan and sang "American Woman". I wonder if there's a video of that....LOL!

  • @ChiChi0909 It wasn't Reagan, it was when Nixon was president. Pat asked that they NOT sing American Woman...

  • My all time fave !!! What a voice Burton !!!!! Love you xo

  • That was PURE MAGIC!

  • I was a kid when this came out, but it means so much more now. It underscores that bands like them didn't resort to gimmick to get the message across. Burton-fantastic. I think this is one of his favorite songs. Great version. Any fan who doesn't have it should get the 2 cd and dvd of Running Back through Canada. Its so great. Thank you for uploading.

  • Best voice ever.

  • @Sandler41882 Holy F#@$#@!G rockin'!!!

  • HALL of FAME....yeah right fk em!

  • I did not know that The Guess Who, or the Moody Blues were had not been inducted to the alleged hall of fame. Just two more reason for me to never ever visit to rnrhof. So The Monkees, Ted Nugent, The Guess Who, and the Moody Blues...

However for this song...Simply a great tune, but a great band...I used to see the original Guess Who years ago. They were one band I would always go see when they came through town.

I used to think this was about Alice Cooper, but have since learned it was Bowie

  • The Hall of Fame is being so freaken politically correct now. Inducting rap groups. How assinine. That ain't music, sure as hell ain't rock and roll. Who can't rhyme a song and get a bass beat behind it. Dozens of NBA and NFL stars have done rap albums. Yeah, takes a lot of talent. They sure know a lot of cuss words and combinations of them, ya know MF etc.

  • perfect

  • Randy is a guitar GOD. Play it loud and proud. Excellent !!!!!!!!

  • When I hear Randy on the guitar, makes me think that would have been an even better tune had he been part of the original recording.

  • No other voice like his.. thank you Mr. Cummings.. sing it like there's no tomorrow...

  • Burton certainly made a name for himself. WTG!

  • For questions about the induction process, write to the following postal address (the Foundation does not have an e-mail address):

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation

    1290 Avenue of the Americas

    New York, NY 10104

LET'S GET A MAIL-IN GOING TO INDUCT THE GUESS WHO INTO THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME!!!

  • My favourite group as a teen and 30 years later one of the most bloody amazing live performances. These guys are the best! Randy and Burton are true national treasures!

  • I love this song, I love The Guess Who. Thank you IdolAmerica.

  • the Man

  • burton is the most under rated act ever genius

  • The Best.

  • great voyce, at 60's years age !!

  • You may disagree but I think "radio play" and the number of songs you had in the top 10 or top 40 and number of albums/CDs you've sold during your career should be how you rate and The Guess Who must be in the top 5 percentile in all those categories, ahead of half the people in the HOF. JMHO They had a very very long and successful career, a few of them were down here in North Dakota with The Guess Who this summer at an outdoor concert, w/o Burton of course.

  • Well,Metallica deserved it.They´ve made a huge impact on music. But I agree with you,These guys should be inducted too.But they don´t need it.The appreciation that a lot of people feel for them is more than enough. And the same applies for Deep Purple.

  • These guys are still amazing. Seen them summer of `09 with the Carpet Frogs. Much would rather see Donnie McDougall playing guitar with Randy but politics of music stepped in. These guys are legendary. i started listening to Burton when i was only 11 years old learning to play piano and was and still inspires me at 41 years old. Love you guys!!!

  • these guys each are so brilliant people and artists...my fav band.

  • fuckin' great!!!

  • yeah...you're right...Still got a Voice...60yrs old...imagine what the hell he could do if he was on the Juice..!

  • Not in the RR hall of fame? What a joke. Likewise with Chicago etc. Saw these guys on their reunion tour a few years ago in Buffalo NY. They tore the place apart. My only regret is they are not doing it again.

  • I saw this tour when they came to Harbour Station in Saint John, New Brunswick, they were incredible and the sound quality was amazing, to me they are the flagship of Canadian bands.

  • Randy Bachman is still an awesome Guitarist

  • Randy Bachman is still a rocking guitarist Awesome

  • Hey SteveUtah,

    GO FUCK YOURSELF!

YOU WOULDN`T KNOW GOO MUSIC IF IT BIT YOU IN THE ASS!

WATCH SOME RUSH VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE!

  • Rush Limbaugh.

Ok Just looked up RUSH ,who the fuck are these whiney little Nerds that you are making such a ignorant fuss about ..How can you put them in the Hall of fame ,My cat can sing better,,what the fuck is wrong with you people

  • @MrSteveUtah Hey maggot, go troll in that wasteland you call a state.

  • HOW DID i GET HERE ..........LOL

  • Amo esta canción!!!!!!es bellísima

  • Randy has lost alot of weight -healthy and plays a guitar like a true master.the hall of fame is beyond a joke Kiss isnt in it ,chicago, rush, guess who and so many others who should be.

  • @edzick917 WHO THE FUCK IS RUSH. I am 40 and have NEVER heard of them ,What am I missing

  • If the Guess Who and Rush are not in the Hall of Fame, then 90% of the other bands that have been put in don't deserve it. BTO, questionable. Rush can put on an outdoor concert today in Rio or London and draw 100,000 people and they are still touring this year to huge crowds in North America.

  • If Glamour Boy isn't among one of the best crafted, produced, and performed pop songs of all time when it came out, I don't know what would be on that list. Loved it then - love it still. As far as musicality is concerned, The Guess Who truly rivalled the Beatles, with more longevity.

  • This looks more like footage from the 2000 Reunion Concert in Winnipeg, not a 1997 concert. Regardless of the possible incorrect info, thank you for posting this!

  • Burton you will always Reflect my eyes !!! Nick baby Love

  • Listen to this voice, 60 years old and still great. Don't make them like him anymore!

  • @liberty1866 He would have only been 50 in this video... all that being said, I've seen him live twice, in 2010, and at 62 he sounds as good as ever!

  • @liberty1866 , I hate math but how could he be 60 in 1997?

  • @rmtmiller He was 50 in 1997, although I have seen him 3 times in the past two years and the voice is still the same.

  • Burton Rocks awesome song , Randy Rocks, The Guess Who- CANADA'S NUMBER ONE ALL TIME BAND!

  • @hawkeyicockburn is true...Canada best band ever...proud of Canada. Thank u you Canadá

  • I remember singing this song long long ago when it was on the radio.. I love the ballad-y sound, the way Burton Cummings hits the notes, puts such expression in the song..If I wasnt watching the vid, I would think it was 1972 again... Rock me, GUESS WHO !! xxxxx

  • BURTON IS THE BOMB

  • craaaaaazy solo. i wish i could find a tab for it somewhere!!

  • This guy is amazing , I love Burton and the guess who track, the original American Woman is awesome, Lenny should not have even tried. Randy is wicked on the gutair!

  • I read it was slam for David Bowie.

  • Beatiful ballad !!!!

    This version rocks !!!!

    And Randy´s guitar roars !!!!!!

  • Amazing song.

I rate it up there with 'Beth' by Kiss as my favourite song.

  • David Bowie

  • Who is this song about?

  • This song is a dig at glam rock in general, and David Bowie in particular.

  • i once heard Burton interviewed and he claimed it was not about anyone in particular, but it was his way of showing disapproval of the attention newly developing glam rockers were getting more so for their look than for their music.

  • Burton Cummings...one of the finest voices in rock. This is my FAVE Guess Who song.

  • GREAT VOCAL

  • The year they got back together, they did an outdoor concert in NCentral NoDak. Can visualize it everytime I listen to one of these. Burton Cummings---even that name fits. One of the greatest 5 or 6 groups ever.

  • Now, how the hell did they get Col Hogan to come out and sing Glamour Boy?

  • robert plant said burton was his fave singer back in the da, Randy plays one mean guitar

  • This is good stuff! Of course, I am from Winnipeg. But... check out Burton's solo album late 70's, early 80's) Dream of a Child. If you can find it. Awesome! I have it on vinyl.

  • Luv the Burton!

  • good ol' Burton...kinda a cross between Burt Reynolds and Freddie Mercury

  • I saw them in Montreal 2 weeks ago they rocked the house .I'm still under their spell What A night.!!! Randy and Burton backed up by The Carpet Frogs The best time was had by al the people who were dancing and singing !!!!

  • makes me proud to be a canadian. who hasn't lived vicariously through these guys? i'm not sure what inspired air guitar, but this has to be right up there.

  • i would love to see these guys again. saw em in Cleveland when i was in high school.

  • Awesome performance !

  • One of Canada's best, both of them.

  • What a rippin´solo from Randy !!!I got goosebumps!!!!!!!

    Simply wonderful....

  • I guess nobody told them after all these years your not suppose to still sound this good...I guess that's what happens when you have talent...go figure.

  • Wow. This is an awesome song. I wish it would've caught on down here in the states.

  • Being from the same home town in the middle of Canada, I've listened to them all my life. They are truly awesome in person

  • Saw them in Chicago during the 70's and have always been one of my all time favorite groups. I have all their CD's.

  • what an amazing performance of a pretty strange but spectacular song

  • Comment removed

  • what's with the incriments of 12,000? hahaha

  • Randy Bachman + Burton Cummings = Canadian Class

  • BURTON IS THE BEST EVER FROM CANADA

  • Are Randy Backman and Burton Cummings friends good friends today. BTO wasn't a Guess Who, but they were very very good also.

  • Randy & Burton (and even the band) were at odds for years but have since realized their true friendship. When they split Randy was BTO, and Burton was Burton. Can't wait for next week for the concert in our home town of Winnipeg. Good old north end Winnipeg boys !!!

  • Hi: i live in kingston ont but am from the good old north end of wpg and we are all looking forward to seeing those 2 perform at the krock centre in kingston --------- have seen cummings perform solo and he was super and also saw the guess who several yrs ago ---- just so super

  • really high quality performance and video - thank you

does anybody know 'young and rich' by the tubes - sometimes it reminds me of this song in its attitude ?

  • garry ...kickin ass on those drums..yea

  • Arguably the most talented musician that has ever come out of Canada imo.

  • Burton is so multi-talented,

but if I had to single out one I'd choose his singing. What a rock stylist!

    Try at 1:28

  • His piano playing is just as good!!!!

  • This is just a great performance by Burton and Randy and Gary. Just think?!!!!!

    Just perfect.

    Joseph

  • Lf Burton Cummings isn't in the Rock Hall of Fame, then the idiots of pop have taken over.

I mean, he plays like 7 different instruments, the piano being his forte.

Match any male musician to him, I dare you.

    Joseph

  • The Hall of Fame has become a joke. They are inducting rap groups now. The Guess Who, B.T.O. and Rush should all be in there. I still can't believe they inducted Metallica. They have only been in the business 25 years. Hell, The Guess Who have been around for almost 45 years! The Hall of Fame has no credibility now.

  • @jlsmsu12 word!

  • @jlsmsu12 I think of what you're saying and it makes me want to pee-yook. Look at Lady (Gag)a, because she can slap on some leather rags, has 50 people working her 'music'(?) on every piece of electronics available, and can dupe today's spoiled brats into buying her shit, they're all over her. I can make better music from a gas attack and an empty pickle jar jar than any flip-flop crap "artist".

  • @jlsmsu12 AMEN

  • @jlsmsu12 Who the HELL is rush for gods sake ,,Now who is a joke.

There is so much no body crap in the RRHF ,Metallica is just shit..Amazing how the loser bands of the 70's got so hyped even tho bands like MET ,Rolling Stones ,Floyd etc were just crap,, It was the Image

  • @jlsmsu12 Exactly...ABBA Black Sabbath and the CLASH????? are in, but

the aforementioned (and my Moody Blues) are not.

I will never visit the museum, and I haven't watched the awards show for years.

Of course, it's only opinion, but I think Burton Cummings has the best singing voice in history.

  • @jlsmsu12 just remeber you are talking about a Canadian band and an American HOF US bands will have 1st crack lol check the Canadian recording artist HOF

  • AWESOME

  • That was a hell of a solo there by Bachman. He wasn't around for the original version.

I love this song but my fondness for it is somewhat tainted by the fact that it's a petty jab at David Bowie.

I love Guess Who, but anyone's gotta admit that in 70's Bowie was making bold artistic strides in the world of rock, while at the same time the Guess Who were on the decline.

Cummings comes off as salty, bewildered, and out of touch with the times. But it's still a great song though despite it all.

  • BOWIE SUCKS...THEN AND NOW!!!!!!!!

  • The "Guess Who" got their acknowledgement! Canadian wise! "U.S. Playlist": Who cares!

    The U.S. is self-indulgent anyway!

  • I saw him do this last summer, amazing live. He is one of the best Canadian Icons along with the Guess Who.

  • Sounds like he is singing from within his soul, maybe a reflection of his past? I think its a bit cute, he is wearing an Elvis shirt. Can you picture Elvis in Heaven, wearing a shirt with Burton's face on it? KEWL KILLA BEANZ!!!

  • I was watching this movie called Last Night with Sandra Oh and there was a scene where the original version from # 10 popped up. Had it listed under Burton's name in the credits though and not The Guess Who.

  • SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET !

  • Rock in roll hall of fame, now!!!!!!!!

  • One of Bachmans best solos.. awesome

  • amazing! That guy rocks!

  • Homophobia.

  • Just a great, great, live version of this 1973 tune from the album "#10".

  • This version seems to be missing the line, "Ladies and gentlemen , a warm space age welcome if you will for the most phenomenal group of the century, RICKY AND THE BALLOONS!!"

or something like that...or am I thinking of a different song? Can't find the recorded version anywhere.

  • no your right

  • Have not heard this song in some 30 years,I loved this song when I was an early teenager back in 73/74 around then, transports right back to the school friends I had then and the things we did, it was alledgely about David Bowie, can't vouch for the truth of that.

  • Yea love it when Randy cranks at 3.43 on ,turn it up

  • To heck with the politics involved. Maybe one of the best solos Randy Bachman ever did, even though he wasn't with The Guess Who when they recorded the original Glamour Boy. Amazing.

  • Whatever the Politics involved: Burton still parlays the Music the way I want to hear it!

  • It's rather pathetic that Cummings still felt the need to sing this bitter dig at David Bowie 35 years after the fact. One would think he would have gotten over it by now.

  • sometimes the truth hurts, had the quess who not been canadian they would have gotten a much bigger push for sure

  • hey hey. if ne1 is reading this. im pretty bored right now! goto my profile and msg me on MSN! k

  • Your Pathetic.

  • Your spelling of "you're" is pathetic.

  • WHOAH!

    Settle down there Turbo.

  • Go Randy! YEAH! Love Burton's vocals too. He still sounded great here. This is such a great band. Thanks for posting. *****

  • Great band - can't go wrong with Randy and Burton's a great vocalist. I'm impressed. Keep playing! Rocknroll will never die with those Winnipeg guys! Let it Ride!

  • I was at that show! at Can-west park, great show, I was wet,& loved it!

  • Excellent song and video!!

  • Growing up I could never figure out why the Guess Who did this song. First, they did it well. Secondly, they were ponderingly jealous of Marc Bolan!! Yes it all worked out, as this was another fav Canadian group. But Marc was soo Beautiful inside and out!! Guess were FAB musicians Love them all and Marc* I always knew this song was about him and it confimed that He, Marc Bolan was a Superstar!

  • Who is Marc Bolan? I seriously doubt this song is about him. When the Guess Who played this at a concert at the CNE back in 1973 or 1974, Burton Cummings dedicated Glamour Boy to "people like David Bowie who are turning rock and roll into shit." So I am pretty sure that the song is targetted at David Bowie.

  • marc bolan was the leader singer of T-Rex.

  • David Bowie was, of course, a label mate of The Guess Who. This is obviously Burton Cummings dig at Bowie. RCA records put a lot of promotional effort behind Bowie and subsequently less for The Guess Who. That didn't sit too well with Cummings.

  • A true classic!! Love it!!

  • Awesome!!!Great to see Randy and Burton together!

  • awesome ,Randy Bachman can play

  • OMG!!! THESE GUYS ARE THE BEST!!!

  • Not sure, but I think this was recorded in Winnipeg on their "Running Back Through Canada" tour. Anyway, great stuff!!

To sign a petition to get them signed up in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, just google "Guess Who petition", but don't use the quotation marks.

  • Running Back Thru* Canada... :P|

Yes it is, I have the dvd of it.

  • the best video ever

  • You know, the guy really needs props on this one is drummer Garry Peterson. That shuffly beat is what makes this go.

  • Totally agree. He drives the song so tight and smooth at the same time. And Randy's solo is killer!!!

  • for $49.000 u could look like a woman tonight wooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!

  • Me too!

  • Excellent. The guitar player did an awesome job on this song. Burton Cummings is older, that is why his looks have changed. It is called aging. It will happen to you, it will happen to me-I really hope to stick around. Many more years to you Burt. I love you.

  • hall. of. fame. period.

  • I love Randy Bachman's guitar work. so underated......

  • Hi! DAnima6313. Is Elvis in his shirt.

  • Well, that's Burton Cummings but Elvis is ON the shirt.

    :)

  • Sorry, man! English is not my native language. Sometimes I write wrong. I´m from Brazil, and never been in the English language countries or studied it, deeply. My English learning sources always been comics, movies, tv, a little bit in the school, you know? Well, I love Guess Who, specially the old times band, back in the 60, 70´s. My favorite Guess Who album is #10. And you? Sorry if I made any other mistake in these few sentences. Limited knowledge...

  • hey man it's all good.

acutally it's only as of a couple days ago I've started to really get into the Guess Who. I can't believe it's taken me 19 years to realize the awesomeness that is Burton-Cummings' songwriting.

so far my favorite song is Glamour Boy, but I love American Woman to death. I've just been listening to greatest hits, but eventaully i'm gonna get around to checking out all their albums

  • Glamour boy is may favorite one, too! Well, I think is good if you ckeck other works of the band, because you´ll never regret. I promise! The lyrics and the music are both wonderful. Add to that Burton Cummings´s voice and will be in Heaven for quite some time!

  • Your English is better than a lot of "fluent" English speaking people! And you have great taste in music!

  • Thanks, man! If you are in this page you like The Guess Who. It shows that you have a good taste, too!

  • After all, for me the best time of rock was the 60-70´s with Yes (the best band ever!), Genesis, Floyd, ELP, Purple, Zeppelin, Procol Harum, Wishbone Ash, Lou Reed, Dylan, The Who, The Guess Who, and so it goes...Hendrix, Beatles, Stones, we can talk days and days about it...

  • I'm in your corner. I also did enjoy more of the British Invasion than you mentioned. And I was also a big Motown fan as well. I probably have a few years on you. But I'm on your page with your selections. For sure

  • Is good to know it. I like motown music, too. I´m a 47 old man. And you?

  • Well I'm 50, so we're in the same boat.

Keep well, and Rock On to the best classic rock and the oldies !

  • One of the greatest rock bands of the 60-70´s. Not so prestigious cause is Canadian. I´m not a fan of the currently Burton Cummings, but, in the past, his contribution to THe Guess Who turned them unique, with their own face and style, half folk, half rock, with a special accent that nobodyelse have. I just love the Album # 10, Glamour Boy, Lie Down., Take It off My Shoulders, etc.

  • I'm in your corner. I also did enjoy more of the British Invasion than you mentioned. And I was also a big Motown fan as well. I probably have a few years on you. But I'm on your page with your selections. For sure.

  • one of the best canadain voices ive ever heard, and sooooooooooooo sexy to boot!!

  • This is such a great tune, and they still sound pretty solid all these years later. Randy's lead work is sloppy, but it adds some nice energy. Enjoyed this post very much!

  • Yeah, I agree with everything you said there. Cummings looks like Joseph Stalin too O.o

  • Poor Burton, man. Don´t say that... He could looks like Burt Reynolds, like Decksoft said, two months ago, but call him Stalin is beyond the limits. He always have one of the best voices ever and The Guess Who became an unforgetable band most for his influence and contribution. As I said before, in other comment, I´m not such a fan of the currently Cummings, but, when I heard him sing one of the old tunes is awesome...

  • The Burt Reynolds of rock & roll ... take it away man ...
