  • 3:28 ...isn't that Al Borland (played by Richard Karn) from Home Improvement fame? I thought I saw Tim "The Toolman" Taylor being shot by a French guy earlier in the play.

  • poland :) I was so happy when i hear my language. Beautiful song.

  • Damn Ireland...

  • Heia norge

  • Yul Brynner in the "King & I"

Julie Andrews in "My Fair Lady"

Michael Crawford in "Phantom of the Opera"

and This production of Les Mis. . . with those time traveling tickets in my pocket---I'd die happy.

  • England- good, too calm France- snooty, but good Germany- good Japan- good, but too calm Hungary- alright Sweden- good carrying that long note, too tame Poland- WAY too calm Netherlands- good Canada- carries notes well, WAY too laid back Austria- EPIC, great energy, voice, and spirit Australia- mild, but a great voice with emotion Norway- great Czech- good Denmark- OK, tame Ireland- EPIC, he REALLY conveys the spirit of the song Iceland- good USA- great ending tone.

  • @obiwanobiwan13 So, if you're keeping score at home, Austria and Ireland have the best, both carrying the true spirit and fire needed. Norway, Australia, and the USA round out the Top 5, with France, the Netherlands, and Sweden also standing out (of course, ALL of them were great.)

  • Comment removed

  • @cheukkai1993 这首歌有中文版,youtube搜索“Do you hear the people sing from Les Misérables -- chinese unofficial version 中文” 。

  • japan is the only asian country here

  • the chinese caption sucks....

  • @watchmancallit Fuck you

  • Ha, the iron chef guy

  • i cry a little when i watch this video. it just gives you a whole new perspective of life to see all these people from different countries sing such a beautiful song

  • Great video. The French guy practically shoves the English guy out of the way because he pauses too long at the mike, and the Icelander looks like he's wrestling with his.

  • 'Do you hear the people sing' is probably one of the best musical songs ever written. No song combines musical elegance, modernity and historic context in a better way. No matter in which language or cultural context, the meaning stays the same. Play this at the next demonstration for freedom and people will storm the barricades.

  • this is the best song i ever heard.

i even cry after the song finished

- Norway

  • Rest in peace, Rob Guest. You were truly one of the best (:

  • Looks to me like the Austrian guy is pissed at the Canadian, and the Czech is just barely controling his laughter. Awesome though.

  • I'm Dutch and I think that Henk Poort, the Dutch Singer, didn't do it as well as he should. Perhaps it's a combination of his ultra short text and his singing skills

  • Robert Marien (france) and Stasiorowski (poland) are BRILLIANT

  • It would be hilarious seeing the japanese version in an anime.

  • And the flagbearers are Gavroches. Ngaw :)

  • Amazing! :D

  • Did all of you miss the hidden meaning?

  • The Scandinavians are BRILLIANT, especially Kurt Havn of Denmark. Robert Marien of France (who is actually Quebecois!) is wonderful too.

  • i just realized how wonderful iriland is! but UK was best

  • i cry

  • Ireland gets the key change, the light change, and a kick ass voice.

  • @tobor77 I want a full MP3 of Ireland's SO bad it's not even funny. @_@

  • Every time. . . every single time I watch this I get chills.

I think the English call it brilliant.

Thank you for the persons who put this together and paid for all these men to be together.

And the person who posted it.

I don't want to compare them but the gentleman from Ireland hit his stride, perfectly. Merci toute le monde.

  • i agree go ireland!

  • go ireland!

  • Go AUSTRALIA!!!

  • They australian died RIP ROB GUEST!!

  • The Most intense performance in my opinion was from the irish and the austrian guy. damn what voices o.O

  • hehe, that was clear. A austrian says that the austrian was one of the best :D

    My opinion:

    France

    Ireland

    Japan

  • well, i said the irish guy was damn good too and i never said who of those two is better ;) although i really like the austrian guys performance, the irish guy truly was the better one of the two

  • I got chills everytime i hear this song! They're all great but my favorites (not including Colm) were:

    1. Ireland

    2. DENMARk

    3. France

I just love thoses voices! Especially the danish because i'm danish! and i can't find him with his song anywhere!

  • They were all just fabulous. Some lacked a bit of intensity but still were great. This song REQUIRES intensity to be fully appreciated lol.

  • Vikidal Gyula (Hungarian) makes me proud....;)

  • I get chills everytime!

They're all great but my favorites(not including Colm) were:

    1.Ireland

    2.Austria

    3.Norway

  • The Austrian guy , what a voice.

  • Just excellent. Not a ugly one among the lot! Gives me chills to listen to them.

Thank you for posting this. Thank you.

Our friends in Iran need our support. Go world!!

  • that Austrian guy is good!!

  • Yes. If nothing else, he has the most powerfully intimidating voice.

  • Dude, like seven of them sing in English, do you suppose that pissed anyone off?

  • lolz go ireland!!

  • LOL! I love Polish. There are so many damn consonants the guy sounds like he's having a hissy fit.

  • Comment removed

  • haha i think i said it already, but austria ftw

  • Leyton sounds amazing here. Cavill from the UK sounded weak, but his voice was dramatically better at the Euro Cup or Bowl Football gathering. It just occurred to me: of all the European countries, where's the Italian guy? Wasn't there an Italian production?

  • I'm pretty sure they didn't have all of the European countries there, but I know they didn't have all the countries total. This finale only has about half of all the countries that had a production, so it's possible that Italy is one of them that wasn't there. =]

  • these performers represented the top countries where they had the biggest success.Hungary had a success rate of 80%,that's why it was in front...80% mening that until that day counting all the shows in the national theatra 80% of the time the place was packed

  • Loads of comments bout the "Irish guy", just thought i'd mention that he is infact Scotish. Jeff Leyton, born Edinburgh.

  • They could always have meant Colm Wilkinson, who's from Dublin.

  • Yeah, I was guessing that myself, he looks quite a lot like a young sean connery. Which is so so ironic given that bond was basically a propaganda tool for the British government.

  • hungary i mean wow you look at him and he looks so small but then you hear his voice and you just fall in love

  • the dutch guys words fits so well with the melody , even tho tommy körberg is everyones hero

  • Ireland :O

  • OMG i never thought id say this buy the American bloke is soooo much better than the english guy. the best has to be the irish dude tho

  • I think Irish Valjean is the best

  • Irish guy wow

  • ->funfact the guy who sings for germany isnt actually german - at least is name isnt german at all

  • Absolutely the best musical ever! I 1st saw it in Sydney Aust. 21 years ago with Rob Guest as Valjean-God Bless may he rest in peace! Loved it and this unified version is fantastic all have their own emotional slant!

  • england is the bestt! by far :)

  • Original Valjean is the best. I really like the clarity of Norway's Valjean even if I don't understand the language. Most of them were really great but a few standout as detracting from the performance. I wasn't a big fan of the US, Canada, or Australia's Valjean which I suppose is odd being that i'm from the US.

I think Japan's (lol Iron Chef) was the most unique. It might be the language but where the others had a gruffness, Kaga brought an interesting serenity.

  • i know, i think japanese is the most beautiful language to speak and to sing in.

  • The Japanese has the most wonderfully deep voice. I love it.

  • ireland was sooo powerful!!!

  • how?

    the eyebrows?

  • ireland... easily

  • isn't that Kaga from Iron chef

  • norway , ireland and britain is the best ;)

  • i vote denmark

  • wow...this is awesome. That Irish guy DID have one of the strongest voices, agreed, and most where what we would consider good for our style, but the very few that didn't seem to fit as well probably just a a different style for singing this than we're used to. But the point is that they were all able to mix together to make it sound awesome! Long Live Les Mis! The best musical ever!

  • agreed - the austrian version is also very good, just the way it was done is typically austrian lol big difference to the german version, altho done in the same language.the polish guy was nay bad either.

only the us guy... donno, that looked uncomfortable! hahah

  • Im sorry if i offend anyone, but the us guy looks exactly like most people here (in germany) would imainge an amrican XD

but i do know better! yay!

  • Powerful!!!

  • Woooo come on Ireland!!!!! I always get goosebumps at the very end.....its amazing!!!

  • so touch!

  • Damned good !!!

  • Sweden, Ireland, and Austria were the beeessstt

  • Awesome; the Irish gut was AWESOME

  • Omg! Its awesome!

  • Norway and Ireland FTW!

Man this is such a great song and this was preformed with brilliant perfection.

  • omg, 4:55, micheal ball cracks me up every time.lolz

  • this is the epitome of epic

  • The American TOTALLY should have been Randal Keith, not this guy! Randal kicks his butt any day.

  • The Hungarian is The best, so small text hawe...

He is The player of Franco nero. And The Les Miserables Hungarian version hawe a best of les Miserables award becam. !!! Forever Hungarian Theatre.

  • Yes Rob Guest has just passed away suddenly from a stroke. He was currently performing as the Wizard in the musical WICKED. A great performer and from all accounts a lovely man who will be very sadly missed.

  • Wikipedia says the Australian guy just died :(

  • tommy körberg and rob guest for the win! splendid singers!

  • damn death note is actually really good, and i fucking hate anime.

  • If the Japanese representative, Takeshi Kaga, looks familiar, he's Chairman Kaga from "Iron Chef".
