in regards to breaking clams, well you can see the video. When digging clams the WDFW requires that you replace the holes you dig and with the clam gun I find you make less of an impact on the beach overall. Thats just my observation. I do use a clam shovel for horse clams and butters as the substrate tends to be more rocky. But again, to each his/her own, there are many ways and means you should go with what your comfortable with.

Thats a razor clam gun, and i would buy one instead of making one. A decent one cost about 15-20 bucks new. I have two but i like using a clam shovel better

I agree, clam shovel is much better. You don't break them by using shovel.
