Whose decision is it that worship must be done a certain way? God never said, "Thou shalt not worship me through the following genres..." This is a perfect example of over-emphasis on tradition. It doesn't matter what "style" is bieng employed, worship is worship. The music doesn't even matter. God isn't a reader of actions, he's a reader of intentions, and a genuine worshipful heart matters more to him than what kind of music is being played.

You are right when you comment on people worshiping the pastor and not the Word. As a pastor that really bothers me. Worship is entertainment. God is the audience. That's what we forget.
But I disagree with you on the music. Does the music have to be boring to keep us from clapping? I don't feel very worshipful with bad music. I do with quality music with lots of instrumentation. Our job as leaders in the church is to direct the people's attention to God.

As for Christian rock - depending on the band, it's meant to be entertainment. First of all, Christian is a noun. So they're bands full of Christians. Secondly, they are trying to communicate they're values through song.

Exactly why I turned my back on churches in my teen years. I have lived the experience of a church that turned into nothing more than a "passion play." I truly wish I could meet someone like you with such understanding of scripture which I could actually communicate with and learn more from. I have gained much understanding on my own and through prayer, but honestly it is very lonesome trying to be on the right spiritual path in this country (america.) I can't find anyone with the love of truth.

Overblown (over produced) "worship" is missing the point. People should be quietly humble coming to God. Music is a form of thanksgiving to God, for what He's done and who He is. Musicians have to be able to give their gifts to the Lord aswell, it should be done with reverence though (I agree with that totally). Church shouldn't be about a big show.

I had hoped that the church could practice all the gifts and that all cinds of governments and leadership, not just the pastor but the apostle, the teacher, prophets and miracles. What you said about church services being entertainment is so true. I use to attend a chuch until they included rap music and dancing in their service. Then I visited another church and they had ballet dancers, cheerleaders, and worldly dancing. It was like a circus. :(

Its all about truth my friend and their is only one. Perspective is a relative word and Elohim looks at the heart with understanding so a mans choices and actions reflect what his heart is after. If a man chooses wisdom and understanding those are from Elohim so they will lead a man to the one truth. A man is guilty of not worshiping in spirit and truth if He is not - even if he thinks he is. I agree with you brother. I remember a time when i go to church i feel the sperit is talking to my heart and the church is very quiet only the paster is talking. NO music, NO jumping up and down.
Church should be a quiet place where one can draw nearer to god and learn his commandments. There should be no bands or overly loud music that makes it "entertaining." Anyway, in the Mormon Church we keep our meetings reverent so that the spirit of the Lord may be fully manifest. We do not have loud and over zealous bands during our meetings nor have we ever done such a thing.
Church is not a building anyway it's the body of Messiah. The people in whom He is manifest in the world. Anywhere they meet and fellowship in Him is a church meeting. The modern methods of the church are more theatrical than spiritual. No modifications to those systems will work. We need to have more focus on each other and not a pleasant air conditioned place to take a nap.

Shouldn't praising God be enjoyable? Churches need to adapt to modern living, I mean keep the message the same but do something that attracts the next generation. Are we trying harder to save the grandparents or the teenagers? Clapping for a pastor encourages him to do a better job (and this would be a sinful thing right??). If you would ever tell the pastor he did a good job preaching, then why would you not clap for him(since they mean the same).

Dude- Love your passion. You are likely correct in most of what you said, in most of the churches... but not all. Any music can give glory to God. But it is a two way street. Those producing the worship music need to have their hearts in the right place: humble, submisive. The hearer's, too, must be in a place of receiving God's gift through that particular media. At my church, I have seen this many times... and we have failed at times as well. But we strive to reach the lost where they are.

I have gained much understanding on my own and through prayer, but honestly it is very lonesome trying to be on the right spiritual path in this country (america.) I can't find anyone with the love of truth.

The truth is a hard pill to swallow but that is what you are giving my friend - cold hard truth - its not about pastor worship, or being seen at church as a social event - but many today who are spiritually empty do just that - live as the lawless ones all week thinking that if they are in tight with their pastor ang attend all the social events that they are 'gooed christians' - thank you and may the living God bless you for your message and your work

Overblown (over produced) "worship" is missing the point. People should be quietly humble coming to God. Music is a form of thanksgiving to God, for what He's done and who He is. Musicians have to be able to give their gifts to the Lord aswell, it should be done with reverence though (I agree with that totally). Church shouldn't be about a big show.

friend, when you look at what is going on in the churches and worship concerts it is a big self focused attitude of enjoyment. That is why so many try to take their favorite music and make it into praise music - this does not work. Since everything has meaning even the tones and rhythms. Watch "food for the 144000 - after the second exodus" on kalamta777's channel and you will understand. Be careful do not get caught up in the ways of modern Christianity - its still a wide road.

What happened with David is different and it is not a daily event! He is not in the attitude of the most act in so called worship by many. The whole Bible teach how worship is supposed to be. This is more of Aaron symptoms in Exodus 32, David in 1 Chronicle 13...the secular method. The secular and paganism method is not what God wants. Do not use His holy name upon paganism way of worship! If you are serious with David's way, then follow 1 Chronicle 15 & 25... levities and priests...

i am a musician, Yahushua put on my heart to dedicate all the music that i know and can play to Him. yes 75 % of the "churches" i have been to over the last 30 years are business. ok! so what? there are just as many churches that have music that are Holy Spirit lead and open the hearts of believers to worship in truth and Spirit. as well as bringing the unbeliever to respond to the Word message. consider this, that the very things you accuse these churches of are the things going on inside YOU!

I really agree on your message man. Why is it that the pastor has taken the whole control over most of thes shurches. I dont find that the first shurches in the bible practised that. And also applauding Jesus or God is neighter worship or praising. Praising is fruits from our lips meaning words coming out of our mouth.
We need to start reading out loud from the bible instead of preaching ours of emty air. With respect, there are called pastors doing fine work.

I beleave you misunderstood the meaning of my message. I do not talk bad against any pastor. Havent done so and are not doing so eather. I'm just holding gods word up and ask why the pastor have the total attention when the first christian church did not practise that at all. Read 1.corint 12.28. I had hoped that the church could practice all the gifts and that all cinds of governments and leadership, not just the pastor but the apostle, the teacher, prophets and miracles. Not just the pastor taking the role of all of them. Also i do strongly beleave that God is using that which are with lacks and faults. If the pastor is all that is there, He whil use the pastor i beleave. But there is i higher level to be reached for the church.

What you said about church services being entertainment is so true. I use to attend a chuch until they included rap music and dancing in their service. Then I visited another church and they had ballet dancers, cheerleaders, and worldly dancing. It was like a circus. :(

Concider the fruits of the Spirit in comparison to what is exibited in many churches today.
No wonder many athiests, humanists, or New Agers, (not all) think so highly of their ideologies and themselves. So many wolves in sheeps clothing have done SO MUCH to make us look like idiots.

That's a little bit of confusion there. You and another brother or sister could be at the same place and one or the other may see through lies and one may not and be focused on God and have a personal encouter with Him but it has nothing to do with the people around, but a desire to love the Lord. Church should be a quiet place where one can draw nearer to god and learn his commandments. There should be no bands or overly loud music that makes it "entertaining." Anyway, in the Mormon Church we keep our meetings reverent so that the spirit of the Lord may be fully manifest. We do not have loud and over zealous bands during our meetings nor have we ever done such a thing.

Church is not a building anyway it's the body of Messiah. The people in whom He is manifest in the world. Anywhere they meet and fellowship in Him is a church meeting. The modern methods of the church are more theatrical than spiritual. No modifications to those systems will work. We need to have more focus on each other and not a pleasant air conditioned place to take a nap.

Shouldn't praising God be enjoyable? Churches need to adapt to modern living, I mean keep the message the same but do something that attracts the next generation. Are we trying harder to save the grandparents or the teenagers? Clapping for a pastor encourages him to do a better job (and this would be a sinful thing right??). If you would ever tell the pastor he did a good job preaching, then why would you not clap for him(since they mean the same).

They even use secular music AND UNSAVED & UNREPENTANT celebrities to draw crowds & host events. They give celebrities preferred seating & parking when faithful members cannot park on the lot or talk to the pastor face to face. Perhaps being in LOS ANGELES allows me to see so much of it. Dude- Love your passion. You are likely correct in most of what you said, in most of the churches... but not all. Any music can give glory to God. But it is a two way street. Those producing the worship music need to have their hearts in the right place: humble, submisive. The hearer's, too, must be in a place of receiving God's gift through that particular media. At my church, I have seen this many times... and we have failed at times as well. But we strive to reach the lost where they are.

this video is awesome! so true. i do think that it doesn't apply to every church though- he plays more modern music. what matters is who we are trying to please: God or man. as long as God is first, that is what is important. also, that the music,etc. doesn't turn the sacredness of the Gospel into a circus event.

THERE IS "CHRISTIAN RAP" THAT IS EDIFYING.. it may not be for everyone's taste, but listen to the lyrics. check out DA T.R.U.T.H & THE AMBASSADOR on imeem. .. I went to one of their shows.. it was a nice atmosphere and they ministered in the word for at LEAST a half hour afterwards. They use their gifts for the Kingdom, no secular samples etc. It is a ministry. But there is so much out there that uses the traditional style music to preach lies & false doctrine. BE NOT DECEIVED.

Think about the Christian concerts also. They look like worldly concerts just with different lyrics. Think about the money and the elaborateness used to entertain. Listen to the crowds applause, it is not to God.
The Babylonian culture of America has corrupted even the church system to call what is evil, good. God does not share in things with a different spirit than His.
Christian concerts are trying to conform to the world.
