Hey Trevor great to here from you. I did not shoot any video of the 103 car train but I know there were some people that did from the willowcreek club. I am also hoping that someone did so I can see it too. Take care
We were there this past weekend. Took the Chinese Pacific. It's first run since a rebuild with Boxpoc drivers and a new boiler.
Word has it that when you rounded the corner last week with the 102 car train and saw the caboose in front of you, your eyes were the size of dinner plates :)
I'm just wondering, but since those trains are that big do you need air brakes for them? and are the brake throughout the whole train or just on the loco?
Some guys run air or vacuum through the train but it's complex and we don't have working glad-hands so it's not common. Two large locos have no trouble controlling 45 cars, and that's a very long train for this hobby. Plus there's not a brake standard, some ppl use straight air, some vacuum, and a very few use K-valves like the real thing.
Where is the video of the 2-8-8-4 pulling 102 car train?
