Another thing...UFC is a disgrace to all martial arts. It doesn't matter if one style is better then the other, if you guys want to get technical, UFC fighters disgrace all of martial arts with their pompous and testosterone filled attitudes, it's all kick boxing and "judo". If you were to put a UFC fighter in the ring with a Muay Thai fighter, no competition hands down. If you do martial arts, you have respect, dignity, and modesty. Not people who bash or have attitudes like yours.
What does TaeTaeDo mean in Korean? "Tae" means to kick, "Tae" means to kick, and "Do" means the way. What's the 1st principle of TaeTaeDo? Always fighting with both hands down. What's the 2nd principle of TaeTaeDo? Aways using the foot to strike instead of the fists. What's the 3rd principle of TaeTaeDo? Using the tapping force instead of the penetrating power. What's the 4th principle of TaeTaeDo? Using the "WTF" run-around moves to only engage in long-range fighting situation. It's FUCKED UP!!

WTF are they doing, man! WTF is wrong with these WTF suckers? WTF are they putting their hands down? Is it because WTF wants to have knockdowns happen in a WTF match? WTF are they tapping each other with their foot? WTF is bullshit! WTF is a shame! WTF is a disgrace to martial arts. WTF is pretty much one of a kind type of shit. WTF suckers cannot adapt their tapping skills and run-around moves into any other fighting competitions like K-1, Full-contact Karate, and MMA. WTF is Suckskwondo!
Taekwondo is the unarmed self defense of punching, kicking, and way of life. It's a martial art...ART it's a way of expressing something. You're not that acrobatic, nor skilled. It's also a SPORT...So until you're able to respect all martial arts...let's see you get on the mat with a 8th dan blackbelt who is clearly going to 360 hook kick you in the face before you even say "wtf".
While I like your enthusiasm for taekwondo, please remember that most competitors in their prime are 1-4 dan, usually by 5th dan they are too old to compete with people in their 20's. At that point they have usually moved on to other aspects of taekwondo. You are right in saying taekwondo is a way, which is the significance of the do.
was taekwondo from taekkyon? i still have doubts about it but from what my previous master (i was WTF but now ITF) told me that korean fighters long ago employ taekkyon with swords in their hands that's why the art is more of kicks than punches...
From what I am told and read that taekwondo is a combination of shotokan karate and taekyon the old korean art style. When japan took over korea they outlawed korean ma. When korea got their independents General Choi Hong Hi took what he learned in japan and combine it with taekyon to make TKD. That's why the art looks japanesse with the mixture of korean style.
Ans you are right. few know that Choi was under martial experience and training of japanese officers and brought this "way" into korea unifying styles. the more i study TKD i realise the discipline of karate in it and taeykkon of course.
actually the president of the kukkiwan signed a contract allowing what was ITF back in the day to call itself tae-kwon-do in my opinion worst decision ...ever...
Excelente, tecnicas, gran concentración, una fluides de movimiento, enfoque de golpes bien definidos con una excente coordinación. Felicidades Tigres Koreanos sigan adelante.
i don't see why ppl have to degrade taekwondo or the different styles of taekwondo (ITF is better no wait WTF is better!!) or any other martial art for that matter. i think if your a real martial artist u should respect the other arts. i think ppl also forget that martial arts is also an "art". a means of expressing one self.i think ppl also forget that this video is of the korean tigers which is a demonstration team. its for entertainment and i think its cool how martial arts can mix other arts
@bujin21 i why get thrown into a maximum security prison in the first place? i would rather know TKD then know nothing at all. also some people don't do TKD just for self defense or fighting.
This tkd team korTigers OWNS yes i agree wud fkn kill me..
but in this vid its just tricking n showing off.. its not rly in the spirit of wat tkd is about..deadly, fast simple 1 hit kill combat. the vid just commercializes tkd so ppl are like WOW THATS SO COOL I WANA DO THAT.

people who is 3rd dan blackbelt TKD or training any others martials art never says things like that with eatch others thay have respect, is not a dumb ass like u who training something and think is the biger just shut up u must be a fat guy and weack
I absolutely agree with you lufodao, my trainer is 5. black belt in taekwondo and he would never flourish with that, he dont need to do that. He only share his wisdom with his scholars. A man with 3rd black belt must know something of TKD philosophy
the difference between ITF and WTF is massive, the WTF turning kick is very weak compared to the ITF standard, though is easier to practise faster, so ideal for sports but crap for street defense
i agree with it depends at with dojang you train. I did tae kwondo for 2,5 years, almost never practiced submisssion/ground fighting, almost no knies, bad punches because of the L-stand, nothin below the belt, like its a clean fight on the streets
i have to say im not a big fan of the whole musical demo thing the WTF have going on with alot of acrobatics and in my opinion...dancing.
im an ITF practitioner and i do understand how both can be used in real life situations but WTF taekwondo dresses up their style too much so we never see grappling or punching.
Please remember that the Korean Tigers are a premiere Korean Demonstration Team. They aren't known for sparring as much. However, as a reminder, international rules and the ruleset used at the Olympics are closer to WTF rules. The only reason that WTF is associated with Demonstration teams is because ITF is considered the more traditional variant. WTF sparring is just as serious, in my opinion, with different rules.
I guess it depends on the dojang. I train in two dojangs - both WTF. One of them is a very competition-oriented - lots of kicks and stuff. The other one (the one I spend most time at) is run by a korean grand-master and it's very martial arts-oriented. We do train a lot of elbow and knee strikes, grappling and even arms from time to time.
I don't understand people that say that TKD is not useful in 'street fights'. What is.? Throwing a trashcan.? If you believe that spinning kicks are the only tools that TKD practitioners have, then I guess you're ignorant. In any case. I honestly don't believe you'd want to get in a fight with someone, who just showed off, using one of those fancy-looking kicks. Just imagine the off-chance that he decided to use that rotational speed/torque to hit you.
why do people always say one martial arts is better than the other? true martial artists should respect other styles, and also it depends on the skill of the fighters, or the strategy they use. theres too many things to consider to say that one martial art is better than the other
personally if i got in a real fight with someone, i wouldnt expect someone to try a tornado kick, and by then id probably have a broken jaw. Unless they sucked and kicked too slowly (which i see all too often).
i don't see while people complain about taekwondo not being able to be used in real fights, if you kick someone in the head or stomach on the street they're gonna go down like a sack of horse shit, but why don't yous learn another martial art then, i do kung fu and kickboxing so i'd use that in fights but tkd is good aswell
it is very gymnastic but dont think if you put an obsticle of over 30kilos in any of the breaking multiple targets they could make another hit past the wieghted resistance.good for display but it would never be used in your life to save your life,if you get my drift
Fuck you wngo70. WTF concentrates on fancy kicking techniques and is utterley useless except for equal competitions and gymnastic display. It also has no punches hence the term taeKWON-do (KWON=PUNCH BTW) ITF is more practical in a real fight and still manages to look good in display. And incidentelly my instructor is a 4th DAN and can move that fast, if you are a 4th DAN or someone you know is, and cant move that fast, then thers something wrong with your taechung/learning ability's
You have no idea what you're saying. Granted, many WTF dojangs are competition-oriented. But that doesn't mean they don't practice the martial part of TKD. Have you ever even BEEN to a WTF dojang? Also, I train at a WTF dojang that is extremely martial. We do a lot of pratice with punches, poomse's, grappling, knee and elbow strikes, self-defense techniques that are not allowed in competition, etc. Oh, and by the way, there are some ITF dojangs out there that are competition oriented too.
It's a Brazilian dojan, in São Paulo. The grand-master (8th Dan TKD, 9th Dan Hapkido) is korean and has a tendency to teach a more classic form of TKD.
hes not a grandmaster of taekwondo if hes 8th dan. if he says hes a granmaster of taekwondo then he is a character i would not like if he lies about something so big. no idea about hapkido tho.
I could have mistaken his TKD dan for his Hapkido dan - maybe he's 9th Hapkido and 8th TKD. I do know that we call him "kwanjanim" (forgive me if the spelling is wrong) - I do know this: The guy has pictures with all the founders of TKD, and has a plate from the Kukkiwon for services on behalf of TKD. He's even trained the korean army. He wouldn't need to lie - not only is he very religious, but also extremely humble (even being a TKD legend)
ur tkd school is prob gay if ur 4d blackbelt and u havet seen that movement before.. im black belt, and its just sped up notabonds and 540 hook kicks..plus high ass jumping skill
It doesnt matter what martial arts your in nowdays it will always be mixed with something else unless you go down to korea and train with people who can do taekwondo better then anybody in north america.
The taekwondo i attend has 3 clubs Regular with white suits and black belt club with red suits and master club with blue suits and it includes karate punches,Taekwondo kiks,Jujitsu flips,Judo grabs YET the master declared it taekwondo.
wish i had starte traning TKD erlier... my friend is a 3rd dan black belt and hes only 17,!! his farther is 6 dan blackbelt ^^ omg hes trained since he could walk.. just crazy kid
Isn't it annoying how people who don't know TKD post stupid comments like that? Martial TKD has a lot more too it than kicking (or punching). And if you train TKD combined with Hapkido, then you'll have great resources for self defense in the real world.
trust me...that is TKD. Martial arts can have the same characteristics of one another, but that is TKD...it could also be Jujistu, they both are old arts in themselfes. Taekwondo doesnt need to copy...as you can see from this video and many others on this site
Love the Drums...! I think there are many different styles of T.K.D.. I am a 4 year student of General Choi Hong Hi. "ITF-USTF" Taekwondo. He was a most impressive teacher. Much Courage and discipline.
I thought the video was awesome. There were things I liked and things I didn't like as with all things there should be. I liked the 540, 720 spin hook, heel, cresent kicks and the board breaks were timed really well.
I didn't like the fact that there wasn't enough traditional classic movements in the video. Not saying that there wasn't any, just not enough. And whenever youg guys go to do a technique your hands were just kind of by your side instead of in the guard position.
the theme music is really epic. Does anyone know what the name is?

I don't understand people that say that TKD is not useful in 'street fights'. What is.? Throwing a trashcan.? If you believe that spinning kicks are the only tools that TKD practitioners have, then I guess you're ignorant. In any case. I honestly don't believe you'd want to get in a fight with someone, who just showed off, using one of those fancy-looking kicks. Just imagine the off-chance that he decided to use that rotational speed/torque to hit you.

I perfectly agree with you!

i dont like taekwondo cause they do to much kicking. That like the only thing they do. Muay thai can own tkd

why do people always say one martial arts is better than the other? true martial artists should respect other styles, and also it depends on the skill of the fighters, or the strategy they use. theres too many things to consider to say that one martial art is better than the other

this is all demonstration the real art is different remember tkd means foot FIST way of

personally if i got in a real fight with someone, i wouldnt expect someone to try a tornado kick, and by then id probably have a broken jaw. Unless they sucked and kicked too slowly (which i see all too often).

i don't see while people complain about taekwondo not being able to be used in real fights, if you kick someone in the head or stomach on the street they're gonna go down like a sack of horse shit, but why don't yous learn another martial art then, i do kung fu and kickboxing so i'd use that in fights but tkd is good aswell
pointsnipe 4 years ago
it is very gymnastic but dont think if you put an obsticle of over 30kilos in any of the breaking multiple targets they could make another hit past the wieghted resistance.good for display but it would never be used in your life to save your life,if you get my drift

And incidentelly my instructor is a 4th DAN and can move that fast, if you are a 4th DAN or someone you know is, and cant move that fast, then thers something wrong with your taechung/learning ability's
dmfjgasdfjhbvgasdsdg 4 years ago
You have no idea what you're saying. Granted, many WTF dojangs are competition-oriented. But that doesn't mean they don't practice the martial part of TKD. Have you ever even BEEN to a WTF dojang? Also, I train at a WTF dojang that is extremely martial. We do a lot of pratice with punches, poomse's, grappling, knee and elbow strikes, self-defense techniques that are not allowed in competition, etc. Oh, and by the way, there are some ITF dojangs out there that are competition oriented too.

what club do you go to?
21974011962538 4 years ago
It's a Brazilian dojan, in São Paulo. The grand-master (8th Dan TKD, 9th Dan Hapkido) is korean and has a tendency to teach a more classic form of TKD.
lfmmoura 4 years ago
hes not a grandmaster of taekwondo if hes 8th dan. if he says hes a granmaster of taekwondo then he is a character i would not like if he lies about something so big. no idea about hapkido tho.
slanahesh 4 years ago
I could have mistaken his TKD dan for his Hapkido dan - maybe he's 9th Hapkido and 8th TKD. I do know that we call him "kwanjanim" (forgive me if the spelling is wrong) - I do know this: The guy has pictures with all the founders of TKD, and has a plate from the Kukkiwon for services on behalf of TKD. He's even trained the korean army. He wouldn't need to lie - not only is he very religious, but also extremely humble (even being a TKD legend)
lfmmoura 4 years ago
He's not a grand-master if he's 8th Dan.
He won't be until he's 9th.

It doesnt matter what martial arts your in nowdays it will always be mixed with something else unless you go down to korea and train with people who can do taekwondo better then anybody in north america.
The taekwondo i attend has 3 clubs Regular with white suits and black belt club with red suits and master club with blue suits and it includes karate punches,Taekwondo kiks,Jujitsu flips,Judo grabs YET the master declared it taekwondo.

that was jiujitsu. not taekwon do. the kicking was taekwondo, but the group demonstration was definately jiujitsu.
anthony32792 5 years ago
even the group demonstration definately was taekwondo. tkd isnt only kicks

if it is taekwondo, (im 4d black btw) ive never seen that body movement before...
anthony32792 5 years ago
Isn't it annoying how people who don't know TKD post stupid comments like that? Martial TKD has a lot more too it than kicking (or punching). And if you train TKD combined with Hapkido, then you'll have great resources for self defense in the real world.
lfmmoura1 4 years ago
i think kickboxing and karate
woutvsas 4 years ago
trust me...that is TKD. Martial arts can have the same characteristics of one another, but that is TKD...it could also be Jujistu, they both are old arts in themselfes. Taekwondo doesnt need to copy...as you can see from this video and many others on this site
