i remember seeing a ghostbusters series that wa live action. sort of the parents of these two guys. tracy (the gorilla) was a part of it and thus got animated.

You are right! Filmation produced a live action version of this series in 1975 with Forrest Tucker (who was from my home state of Indiana, btw) and Larry Storch, who starred on F-Troop (1965-67) who played the original Jake Kong and Eddie Spenser. They were infact, going to reprise their roles for the animated series in 1986, but Tucker was too ill to participate and later died, hence the two main voice actors, Pat Fraley (who later did BraveStarr) and Peter Cullen played both the dads and sons.

This is 'Filmation's Ghostbusters' which is different. It is based off of a television series from the seventies, which was obviously resurrected to compete with the Ghostbusters craze. The cartoon based off of the Ghostbusters movie is called "The Real Ghostbusters."

actually in a way both are based on the same TV show from the 70's. Altho filmations is a sequel since Jake and Eddie Jr are the kids of Tracy and Eddie from the show.... I'm sure they got the idea for The real Ghostbusters from the TV show since it came out about 10 years before the movie even went into production.

I have this show on DVD, which I found at Best Buy. I remember I used to hate this show, because I thought it was a ripoff of The Real Ghostbusters. Although I was wrong about that, I slowly realize that this show is really good. I do like the show, it has a good tune to it. When I got older, I didn't realize that this show was based on the 70's t.v. show itself. I wonder how Prime Evil would do if he faced off against the Ghostbusters and the Real Ghostbusters working together?

At least this "ripoff" of the film and cartoon series was the best thing that ever happened. The characters from the movie and the real ghostbusters cartoon series became one the greatest american icons for the cause of being sooo popular and an inspiration to sooooo many people - including me, became inspired by it, too! Witch explains the reason so many people are wanting a third ghostbusters film. their dying for it!

I like both of them too. Though I prefer the filmation version. I just recently saw a few episodes of the original live action one, and loved every second of it. And I also agree that the two different ghostbusting agencies having a turf war would be a sight to see.

The movie ghostbusters and the real ghostbusters is a rip off of this cartoon and its live action for bearer. However, the ripoffs are have gotten it right, and the orginal ghostbusters both live action and cartoon suck!

ok man sorry but u were right about he live action series being out first but because of the realease of the movie from columbia pictures, filmation tried to resurect the old characters and make it into the cartoon to try and gain off of the movies fame but it didnt work cuz the show sucked lol so i guess we were both right lol
