To all who wonder WHY O WHY the Leopard didn't kill the baby baboon right away?!?! Well I can explain it. Animals have six sense and that sense is danger. The leopard knows this baby causes no threat. Secondly this is a young predator still stuck in the phase of being a adolescent and a fully matured predator. Furthermore, the Leopard just killed its mother and knows this baby will die overnight whilst the Leopard eats the mother. Basically the Leopard allowed the baboon to die in peace. GG!!!

@liambradden the cold making him quiet meaning he didnt make it through the night without the body warmth, or milk of the mother bro. a one day old baby baboon has zero chance in the condition. the leapard ate it after it was dead btw, i seen the full show :). it just didnt want to kill it i guess...cause the leopard knew it was gonna die. so in a way she showed the baby baboon mercy.

of course the leopard killed the baboon, after all it's not like animals in the wild have neighbourhood Safeway store for food -- but it is remarkable how the leopard sensed the baby was now alone and in danger and decided to protect it. I wonder how often that does or doesn't occur in nature - or perhaps it only happens if the 'predator' (as in this case) encounters an orphan 'after the kill'. Too bad the baby baboon died, but at least (thanks to the leopard) it didn't die violently.

This is incredibly touching, but I think it's quite a stretch to say that the Leopard recognized the infant baboon as the offspring of the adult baboon that she just killed. The infant baboon's size and body structure are close enough to a cat's to trigger the leopard's maternal instinct, etc. The easiest explanation is that she mistook the infant baboon for an infant of her own species.

@Joverrated the child didnt die. to me it looks like the leopard killed the baboon... it then looked after the kid. the kid looks sleepy to me at the end as everytime the leapord nudged it, it opened its eyes. i'm sure it didnt look like its dieing. otherwise the leapard wouldnt look after it after the mothers death.

She didn't kidnap the baby, she saved it & took care of it all night. There wasn't much she could do about it freezing to death. Besides she wouldn't have been able to feed it & it would have died anyway. Dying in it's sleep was much more merciful than being eaten alive by hyenas.
