@stoneyburned Yah, his coach should have stood off to the side and let Ilya have his time in the spotlight. That was wrong. But, the dude was going nuts. Did you see him jumping around in the background? His coach is full of energy and involved and supportive... gotta appreciate that.
@stoneyburned with regard to his coach going to the platform, its a success for the coach that his lifter succeeded. they clearly have a great training relationship, as developes when ur coaching someone multiple times a day,
@DROGBAZHAN Andrei Aramnau is way better in my honest opinion but they can't be compared due to the difference in bodyweight. But so far Andrei reached alot more then Ilya. Both won Gold but Andrei has a olympic and world record for the Snatch on his name and came close to the olympic record of the Clean and Jerk @ the -105kg.
i totaly agree, even when he did the 187 he pulled it high enough for 190 in my opinion,it seems like the height is never the problem on his snatches, its just a matter of if the bar is on point.
This guy is like barley 20 right now, rybakou is a freak in the snatch but heh you win based on your total right? And saying 180kg at 94kg is not good is laughable, seriously are you kidding that is a ridiculous mark.
Yea, he didn't even get to go for a 3rd attempt since he hurt his elbow. He's snatched 185 kg in training and this was his first competition in nearly 2 years.
He's a pretty cocky bastard (still a great lifter) and I think his second snatch attempt shouldn't have counted, he didn't stand still with it long enough...
I prefer to see lifters showboating (If you'd call the look to the side that) to make it more interesting and entertaining for spectators. Dimas, my favorite lifter, did this plenty of times.
It was a VERY EASY!!! clean he had there, much better than Kolecki,But he had a Injury too. Maybe if no one of the two champions in 94 had been having injury maybe it would have been a World Record in C&J, just maybe!

It's not like he was stealing Ilya's thunder...
He was happy for him!
He was just too excited to contain himself.
I thought that coach was hilarious. It made the show even better, IMO.

Rubakou snach 185 in 85 clas , wwc 2007 Rubakou snach 187 world rekord !!!!!! Rubakoou in 94 clas 190 snach and 220 c&j
creativabg 2 years ago
he's done 191 in the snatch, at a bw of 89 kg. the clean and jerk i have to look it up.
LazySniper 2 years ago
210 with a missed jerk @ 216, I think rybakou could clean 220 @ 94 but I doubt he could jerk it, I imagine the clean would be supremely difficult
kaga13 2 years ago
i've seen him try 216, but he couldn't hold it. 220 for him, not likely. unless he worked at it like crazy.
LazySniper 2 years ago
true, but he was only 89kgs, at a full 94 i would imagine a 195 and 220 would be POSSIBLE for him

Very good in the c&j but quiet bad in the snatch.
180 for a 94kg-guy is not good.
Rybakou did 180 as his opener in 85kg devision.
Polyhistor23 2 years ago
not very good? sure its not world record, but
(i could be wrong) there were only 2 lifters to lift more in the snatch.
After all 180 is only 8 kgs off the world record, rybakou is simply one of the best snatchers of all time.
chiefwr88 2 years ago
Yes u r right. I might have exaggerated a bit.
But I would love to see Rybakou match the 94kg snatch record of 188kg.!

chiefwr88 2 years ago
and illyn clean&jerked 226kg while rybakou only did 209kg, plus illyn's done 216kg@85, what's your point?
