@MrStevensfootball The dogs are always welcome to ride with us, but prefer to run. So I guess the answer to your question is..........." He wants to run".
The tree damage is from moose rubbing it's antlers & body to get the itchy velvet & old fur/insects off. You can see the long up and down rubbings instead of the normal gnawing marks. Deer & rabbit will soon take advantage and chew on the lifted sections of bark.
@Terratracks Look to fresh for that. All antlered animals would have shed there velvet months before this vid was taken. Around here porcupines will do that when they eat the bark.
@magnumsrule1 Fresh is debatable and there are smooth rubbing marks around the bumps not indicative of bark being torn off or chewed, and yes i have porcupine around here i know what their eating habits are like. When horns fall off they still still itch, i have watched moose doing this and btw i have seen moose with antlers in late January. But i am not about to turn this into an argument.
@MrMrtiki Yes it is Garnett, I didn't make them, but if I was to make a set, I would try to use something a lot lighter. There is a guy on 6x6 Forum that made a set out of a few 1.5" Polaris Snowmobile Tracks. They looked very nice. His user name on the forum is "smog"
@MrMrtiki I don't think he's run them for too long yet, but others seem to be having good luck with them. We'll have to see how he makes out, I'm sure he will post up some progress reports eventually.
@RockDoctor07 Well it`s not often we get + 4 and rain in Dec .it feels like spring here might not need to think of tracks this year the lakes are clear ice unreal .
@RockDoctor07 We had a drive by to see what it looked like about 30 vehicles on ice maybe 16 " ice - monday we`ll go I think might take Bobcat damn regulator crapped left key on need a light on it -thinking of converting a 8 x12 Holiday trailor into a ice fish hut gut it make roll on ski`s stay for a couple days .
@MrMrtiki When I was out a few weeks ago, I could NOT get through the ice with the 20" Bar on my chainsaw. Same thing with the Ice though, not a lot of snow on it.
How the heck would you move an 8x12 shack around on the ice? Why not leave it on wheels and tow it with a truck, IF you can get a truck to the places you want to fish.
I like the idea, but not sure if I could pull it off, lol.
I actually have an old Holiday Trailer, like that.
moose will chew the bark off populars, those girls are gonna be real independate young ladies by the time they grow up,,,and it wont be long before theyll wanna make those trips on their own....good job as parents
@highnwild Yes, it was Moose, but I was a little suprised at how far they went up the trees, lol. I was trying to get the kids to think about that. We talked about it on the drive home :-)
I was also told once that Samsquatches will also peel the bark off trees, but I didn't bother mentioning that to the kids, lmao. Haha.
Oh ya, they already think they can do it themselves, I guess I'm not ready to let go yet............ :-)
why is the dog running along side?

@MrMrtiki Maybe, I don't know yet. Will have to watch and see.
