  • tnx little kid

  • Also, an AMD something BE... Yup, those heat sinks are noisy as ****. I'm listening to mine whir away right now.

  • I'm impressed with your presentation skills.

  • Get a haircut......

  • Lay off the games for a min and get some sleep man!

  • a young pc gamer. very rare

  • @halo56822 not really, I'm a young pc gamer, and I know 15 people at my school who are also pc gamers.

  • @ryzhikant wow im in high school and i dont know a single pc gamer.

  • Thank you for the tutorial! Nice job

  • You remind me a bit of myself at that age, except I never did apply thermal paste. Truth be told, it's the one thing I still can't do very well, but hopefully the pea method will serve me well enough. I'm sure you already know to use isopropyl alcohol to wipe the surface clean next time. I just have one question: how on earth can you afford to make these PC builds? Now I'm working I can finally finance myself in what is, let's be honest, an absurdly expensive - though not unrewarding hobby!

  • bad falsement

  • You're awesome man! you give me hope for younger kids. Keep it up!

  • If you are not satisfied with you work; remove this video. Do another video that show the correct way to apply thermal paste. Wish I were your age; have a great time. Education and hands on.

  • How Not to Install New Thermal Paste

  • Disabling the rating bar was a good idea.

  • you;ve got the same case as me :D

  • he is the next linus LOL

  • You need the whole processor clean since otherwise it will have a lot of air bubbles when you apply the heatsink to it... Air is bad...

  • Better is putting thermal paste on the CPU than putting on the Cooler.

  • good video mate but you should not touch Thermal Paste its highly toxic

  • Comment removed

  • This will work but its not the best way to do it, you are supposed to clean both the cpu and heatsink with isopropyl/denatured Alcohol to remove all of the old thermal paste and apply an amount of thermal paste similar in size to a grain of rice to the top of the cpu and let the cooler spread the paste when it is secured, other wise you will be left with air bubbles in the thermal paste and that will cause higher temps.

  • scrape with a credit card, clean with alcohol.

  • If you were my kid, I'd be soooooo proud of you! xD You rock. And Hor1k has the right idea. ;) Good job, kid. =]

  • @DerTeufelMann im smart as this kid, im 10. My parents aren't even proud of me. :(

  • @DerTeufelMann i built a computer when I was 9 in about 30 - 60 minutes

  • Great vid!

  • Great job kid, learn while your young (:!

  • when i was your age.. i was learning to tie my shoes - good job :)

  • Hey kid well done man Image all the money you could make cutting up cocaine.

  • Keep going at it kid your doing gr8 when i was that young computers where the monitor for me

  • I always thought that the least amount was the best. Now everyone is saying that it doesn't matter.. What i do is just put a tiny dot of it in the middle of the cpu, then take a piece of plastic wrap, and tighten that around my finger. Then use that to pull the thermal paste radially from the center all around it, If it's not even, then i just got back and forth. Never any over hang or anything once you put the heatsink on. You shouldn't use q-tips because of the cotto. Use coffee filters.

  • BEDTIME!!!

  • You can use a 5 lb. blob of arctic if you want, as long as it doesn't block the air to the heat sink, it doesn't matter if you use 'what people think is too much!', even if it is smeared all over the inside of your case, on your circuit boards, or where ever... it doesn't matter. UNLESS of course, appearance matters, then it does.

  • apply thermal paste on CPU not heatsink. You will end up missing spot of thermal paste.

  • @doceigen Look at his next video on his list...

  • The amount doesn't matter, except if scoring neatness. The worst thing to do is create air-bubbles and then press that air-bubble filled paste in-between two plates. The air-bubbles will stay there and the micro-volumes with resonate with heat, until the pressure causes the hardening paste next to the bubbles to crack, then the paste is useless. Also, those bubbles in traveling laptops are affected by altitude pressure changes and will crack the the old paste up. Smooth, and slow... !

  • the old thermal compound was not cleanred properly..it will effect the efficiency of the new one..

  • That stock cooler sucks I have the same one and it sounds like a vaccum

  • how old are you?

  • i was 27 when i made my pc my parents hated me when i was kid i think

  • Lol one day later the heat sink gets stuck to the cpu.

  • lol

  • you need more sleep bro... the dark circles under your eyes are almost as bad as mine.

  • I have two things to say about this.

    1. Do not pull your cpu cooler straight out because the thermal compund can stuck your heatsink to your cpu, this might cause the cpu to come with the cooler when you pull it out and its pins might get bent.

    2. Use alcohol to clean the cpu, otherwise you will have a lot of thermal compund left. As long as you don´t use too mouch it´s ok!

Also, don´t take me the wrong way now! When i was at your age i didn´t even know what thermal compound was ;)

  • @mr4wkw4rd Number 1 happened to me precisely. Only 2 pins on the outside were bent and easily fixed with some jewellers tools however. Now, though, i tend to remove my cooler with a little twist as well.

  • @mr4wkw4rd Oh, please don't tell them that! Any kind of chemical is VERY risky to use as even the smallest drip can have a corrosive effect on the CPU and cause it to die.

  • You could at least turn the video ratings on

  • your 7, why do you have a computer like that... Go outside and play hide and go seek.

  • Alcohol is fine.

  • My parents don't buy me expensive ass computers I worked my ass off to buy mine and I still have a CRT monitor because I blew it all on the computer. That kids got it easy

  • omg take a shower please ;D

  • LOL @ stock cooler and LOL @ spreading the thermal paste

  • @nascar51523fan Stock coolers are okay.

  • For all you criticizers, he's just a kid and atleast did something which you people could not do at that age.

  • why don't you just remove the video?

  • Good job, not perfect but good enough! When i was your age i didn't even know what a computer looks inside, let alone do work on it so i think you are on the right track, everybody has to start somewhere and perfect along the way, no one is born smart! So pls don't mind all those bad comments from people that i bet don't even know how to properly apply paste themselves! Keep up the good work!

  • @hor1k I know how to propperly aply it.. but i also see that this is a way that works.. however ofcourse it is not the best.. but loads of people commenting here haven't even done it them selves i bet. but yeah... he is about the age when i started to upgrade ram... that was all i could do haha :P

  • really good computer on really bad hands :(

  • You should just remove this video... it's making people lose intelligence, seriously.

  • get some sleep kid

  • You should use alcohol it removes all of the thermal paste

  • Shouldn't you ground yourself

  • First off all open the thermal paste before the video starts

  • While props to this kid for getting into computers at such a young age, Iv never seen anyone use q-tips to remove half the original compound. Next time use some sort of cloth man, save you tons of time and you get ALLL of it. To be honest, I probably couldnt have done this at his age. I was too busy partying to be a geek,

  • Give credit to this IT youngman because, how many of you have done similar thing at that age? Couple things 1) he unplugged all electricity (good) 2) he never used wrist strap for grounding 3) unsual he put compound on the heatsink not the CPU but it should make contact. 4) the camera man should stick to his video recording and not suggest what the IT guy is doing.

  • LOL... it's STUPID!!!!

  • Haters Gonna Hate...

  • thanks dude for video

  • tech support from an 8 year old. SEEMS LEGIT GUYZ. LETS USE A Q TIP AND TAKE 20 MINUTES TO REMOVE 70% OF THE COMPOUND.

  • I would not let him loose on my MB!

  • this video deserves 240 P XD

  • Lmao, that cameraman is a dumbass for saying you need to use q-tips.... WTF.

  • My dad would have BEAT MY ASS if I did this at his age... wtf...

  • your still learning kid but youll get it if have a ?'s just ask but you did the tim wrong brother

  • i took the cooler of my cpu one time to clean it and didn't clean the old paste off or put new on before i put back on and it still works fine and that was almost a year ago

  • Nice mobo, is that an Asus M5A? Great job with the video, most of the people hating on this video were playing with sticks @ your age!

  • What a smart kid !!!

  • He should have done a better job at cleaning the two surfaces, because the new compound won't do it job properly.

People go back to basic, both surfaces CPU and heatsync need to look like new out of the box. In order for the compound to work as it should. If you don't well kiss goodby cpu...

  • @lepompier132 Way to over react. Even if you dont apply any compound, we wont be kissing your CPU goodbye. Do you realize the amount of heat processors can endure? You realize they are made out of silicon right? Which can withstand up past 1400c. And the transistors can go up to 150c before sustaining damage. I dont think a whopping 10c difference between the compound working and it not is going to fry any processor.

  • @320bit I've seen CPU burned way before that temperature and trust me it's smell burning. Good thing it was'nt my PC. The guy was lucky, replace the CPu and the computer came back to life. So paste is important for proper heat transfer.

I remember in the era of the 386 and 486dx2, no paste was used under the heatsink, you could cook an egg on those CPU because they were running hot. That they began to use Paste with later generation of 486, 586 and so on.

  • @lepompier132 I guess you dont remember the 386/486 era too well, since neither of them used heatsinks AT ALL :) I had a dual 486 server. Processors in that time, did not require heatsinks as they were not running very fast and even with the high amount of voltage they ran, they did produce near as much heat as todays processors.

  • @320bit Yeah .... u r right actually they had a large fabrication die therefore then had more stronger metal contact's which helped them to operate on higher temperature's with less cooling need's

  • @lepompier132 Im pretty sure they didnt start using heatsinks until the 92 Pentiums showed up running like 75MHz, which was like twice the speed of previous processors.

  • also not how you take off a heatsink.... you need to undo clips, then gently twist it a bit then pull once you have broken contact from the cpu and heatsink.

  • laugh if he fucked his cpu :D this kid is a total noob :P

  • You really need to clean the CPU and heatsink alot better. What you did there is really not enough.. Secondly you used way to much thermal compound.

  • LOL you used way to much maybe you should of got your mommy to help.

  • It was so painful watching this terrible cleaning of CPU and heatsink way to much thermal compound utter fail.

  • @will9099 i cried...poor amd

  • @cwbesner oh yeah cole

  • Do not touch heatsink or upper side of cpu with hands.... but great video, and all the other shits that goes after my comment...

  • terrible cleaning you've done there. you should clean your heatsink and cpu untill you receive the same mirror finish you had when you first bought the components. that was an incredebly half ass job. also you applied way too much compound. half that amount is still borderline too much. also your camera man is epic fail.you can use q-tips but alcohol is a must if you dont have compound remover. also using a creditcard is famous for creating airbubbles.respawn in 3...2...1..spawn camped.

  • smart young kid

  • haha co to kurwa ma być ?

  • next time try twisting the heatsink side to side a little then pull it off.

  • Really liked this video. Was also quite impressed that you feel so confident with PC while being so young. Good luck in future, and ignore the flamers!

  • that was a fail demo of how to apply thermal compound lol i love searching this to watch people fail hahaha

  • wow that much thermal compound is enough for 10 applications. What was that a 10g tube?

  • rofl, such a fail, i remember being that age ahaha think you know everything about electronics....

  • You mad because a little kid can do better than you? He's just trying to learn stop flaming over him and try to do better!

  • Kid, you are wrong,,,,

this is wrong information, take this video down

  • Your cameraman is a fail

  • @TheGeekDistrict Uhh he doesn't even know how to properly remove thermal paste and you went with his knowledge using Qtips.... llllllllllllllllloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooollllllllllllllllllllllll

  • noob :)

  • personally i think ur nuts just using the Q-tip, its probably good for removing the bulk of it as opposed to using 30 alcohol swabs but i always use isoprophil alcohol wipes "hospital grade" to clense all the leftover compound from the tiny crevasses, wait for the alcohol to evapourate then put a little dot of TIM in the centre of cpu, i find it spreads well enough when u reaply the cooler but if anyone sees a problem with my method please tell me

  • @kinga303 Qtips in Sweden are smaller and softer, does the job well. I cleaned my Mugen2 nicely with like 10 of em, and obviously some extreme alcohol. Looked brand new and shiny. Same applies to teh CPU.

These guys seem to have forgotten the CPU (it had grease on it!) and they had lots of spare grease left on the heatsink.

  • @mupp33n your thick if you used Qtips say no more. only a really sad person would comment using Qtips instead of toilet paper fix up.

  • @LIVEREALFOOLED If it works, why should I not use em? And our Qtips look nowhere near yours. And I use paper afterwards, retard.

  • @mupp33n my don we will light that paper

  • what was this kid thinking about when he uploaded this video

  • LOL ,you need to learn that you gotta clean off the old shit first

  • Comment removed

  • HA HA HA HA On a side note kid, you should probably start taking your computers to a professional. One who doesn't show credit card numbers on video.

    4:47 Security code 653

    4:57 Card number 5113-4094-1926-8939 Expiration date 06/16

You should also probably get a new card now ;-)

  • @YoDaJedEye We already said that it's expired.

  • @TheGeekDistrict i was wondering what the temps were after this "surgery". i have tried this on a p4 and i went through 2 tubes and got no where. i have since started putting a dab in the center and found it to work much better. i also make sure it's clean with 91% alchahol. you don't what anything hindering the compound from moving heat. anything including iinperfections of surface can do that creating bubbles or even oil from finger tips.

  • @YoDaJedEye You're the retard, if you didn't hear him say OLD PREPAID CREDIT CARD

    DERP

  • @YoDaJedEye what an idiot right? lol ;)

  • @YoDaJedEye

Actually it says 06/14 and its not a credit card it looks like a gift card judging by the $25 on the top right of it.

  • @YoDaJedEye The fact that you paused the video just to find out those numbers, after he specified in the video that it was an old pre-paid credit card with nothing on it. Is rather pathetic.

  • @YoDaJedEye its also a prepaid card anyway.

  • what.. the... hell.... wow.

  • plz type this in to youtube and watch this video,Installing Thermal Compound (NCIX Tech Tips #11) to see the right way to apply thermal paste and next time do alot more research before you try pc maintenance or upgrades.if you ever need help or have a question just leave me a comment i have been doing this for 5 years now.

  • @Mcnoulty11385 so your the thermal compound guy huh? well linux got all of it right except his application amount a so called "grain of uncooked rice." yeah really maybe for an consumers pc.

  • @LIVEREALFOOLED Look up the video "how cpu past spreads" then you tell me.

  • @Mcnoulty11385 thats the same video i reference dont worry, im just debating people that scrimp there is no method except clean and put an blob the same size as an xbox button in the center. no spreading with an credit card or any of that bullshit. sorry if i offended you i didnt mean it directly.

  • @LIVEREALFOOLED lol im not offended i was just trying to show why the "grain of uncooked rice" method is the best there was no air bubbles and it spread more evenly then the other methods.Thermal Paste is only to fill in the imperfections on your cpu cover and heatsink so you dont need alot and you only need it in center where the cores are not the whole chip so it can over flow all over the cpu socket.lol most noobs build pc's and use half a tube of past that has 10 application's like this kid.

  • 1st: Next time ask your dad for some help.

2nd: Thanks for showing that nowadays computers will work, no matter how much you f*ck with them!

  • @fsastudent Our parents are technologically impaired. We have to do this ourselves. ;)

  • @TheGeekDistrict LOL! Good Point :)

Tip: the whole point of a thermal compound is to fill in the hair bubbles between the Heat Sink (HS) and the CPU surface. You you gatta make sure both surfaces are sparkling clean before you apply the compound, otherwise it kills the purpose.

  • too much wrong in one video

  • in 20 years I have never seen even the worst re pasting close to this he did say alcohol swabs so he would of been right the camera man knows nothing the kid has good demo skills

  • the only reason people disliked this video is cause your prolly 2x younger then everybody watching this video and your computer is shitin on theres lol

  • @N64ROCKS no cuz he did this wrong

  • Dude, you are making me laugh. This video is awesome. Good job! :)

  • really... He does not clean off the thermal paste propperly.. He touches the cooler and spreads the thermal grease resulting in air bubbles..

  • might as well just take the fucking CPU out and put the thermal paste in the socket, probably works better

  • @SqueeksoAo That's where the CPU pins are. It'll kill your processor and damage your motherboard.

  • @TheGeekDistrict Nah it's more effective than this video tbh

  • @TheGeekDistrict Quite simply, you used too much, you created air-bubbles, and you should never apply it to your cpu cooler.

  • @TheGeekDistrict -_- no shit

  • @TheGeekDistrict im not being nasty like the rest but i think whoever the person was which suggested you used earbuds lol to clean the grease was probably holding you back because there wasnt any alcohol rub.

next time use some aftershave or perfume and some toilet paper if you dont have any alcohol rub whoever suggested you improvised with q tips needs to fix up nobody's that thick.

  • @TheGeekDistrict cough cough sarcasm

  • NEVER touch the heatsink copper with your fingers! You just contaminated it and it will need to be redone.

  • Comment removed

  • what the fuck.. are you 10?

  • I couldn't find the CPU so I bought 12 tubes of MX3 and smothered it all over the motherboard. I then took 150ml of alcohol and poured it over the motherboard and slightly shook it to evenly spread it. I used a hairdryer to dry it all. I now get 10 to 15 degrees less than before.

  • We have the same Graphics card. =D

  • I think you put too much. :S

  • Comments below me -> this kid is more mature than you were at 20. Most people wait till late high school or college to learn PCs. This kid will be your boss someday.

  • do you only have 1 ram stick?

  • Epic fail, man...

  • your method fail, first you need to clean off the old paste completly with rubbing alcohol and paper tower, second you applied way too much of it (rice grain size) not half the tube and dont spread it yourself. and third apply the paste on the cpu not the cooler and clean the cpu from the old paste too with rubbing alcohol...

  • @xlegendqc87x an grain of rice? your wrong its the size of an xbox button
