@Lampshade51 At least...she never lost her sex appeal, that's for sure. She was so ahead of her time and so amazing!! I just adore her. I miss having actual STARS like we used to have. Now they're a dime a dozen, but none of them can hold a candle to Mae (and a handful of others). Same with leading men....Ahhhh...the good old days.
Thanks for posting this clip of Ms. West performing on the Dick Cavett TV special, Backlot USA. She was a real MOVIE STAR!!!! I too wish that this Dick Cavett TV special was on DVD.
What a great pity that this clip ois in such awful shape/condition - why oh why didn't this get released by Shout when they did all the Dick Cavett TV shows? PLEASE somebody release this Dick Cavett TV Special Backlot USA on DVD it also starred John Wayne , Mickey Rooney!
This is like a dream. One of the all-time great Hollywood golden age performers struttin' her stuff on color videotape at the age of 80-something. She could pass for someone in her 50s easily. What a treat! Mae almost never did television.

I have her christmas album taped in 66 and it is THE BEST christmas album ever! she sounded so good at 73!

Actually, she was 83.... born in Aug. 1893, and this special was taped in 1976.
