  • My daily driver is E46 328i and E30 325i weekends. 325i is more responsive with Signature Motoring performance (CAI) intake kit. Installed it myself in under half hour. HP increase on the 325i is about 9.5HP for a cost of $170 or around $19 per HP gain. Best 1st performance mod to do. Other application data:

    E30 series: 6.0-13.4hp gain

    E36 series: 5.5-12hp gain

    E46 series: 6.0-13.9hp gain

    E92 series: 8.5+ hp gain

    Z3/Z4 (all): 5.5-13.9hp gain

See my channel for driving action videos!

  • Kudos, I have a 1986 BMW 535I that I built with a 93 ford 347 stroker. Trick flow headers and stage 2 cam, ford AOD trans with stage 4 kit, 2200 stall speed converter and suspension and rear diff from a '88 750il. Full sleeper and the engine is about 200 lbs lighter than stock. Daily driver and full sleeper. Im getting ready for a move to NZ, Hope I can bring it with me.

  • Hello,

Still own a e30? will be more videos? not a problem in the corners with a heavy engine? (understeer).

    Thanks.

  • @HayabusaDrift Hi Ya, yes I still own the E30 but im living in London now and the car is in New Zealand. No issues with understeer, the good thing with the 1UZ is it is alloy and actually is slightly lighter than the iron straight 6 it replaced. It also sits further back so the balance is better :)

    Cheers

  • Thanks mate, its a good combo. Im using a modified Toyota W series gearbox, you can use W55,W57,W58 and a Supra box easily with an off the rack adaptor plate or housing

  • Awesome looking/sounding car. I'm thinking of doing the same. What transmission are you using?

  • I have an E30 325i and the only performance item I have is the Signature Motoring performance CAI for about $150. The performance kit adds around 9HP on the dyno, sounds freaking great, and installs in under 30 minutes. Highly recommended.

    -Avg 9 HP increase

    -Lifetime filter

    -SOUND AWESOME

    -30 min. install time

Aside from the power gain, the SOUND is amazing at higher RPM but sounds normal in regular driving. I’m thinking about added high-flow exhaust next.

  • Thats Awesome, is there much to squeeze it in, firewall mods etc?

  • Awesome swap!!! I'd love to do something like this. Must be a blast to drive.

  • Sweet Swap. Incredible engine in an excellent car, well done!

Have you ever done any autocross with it?

  • @kuhl12 Thanks mate, Im really missing the carim in the UK now and its still back in NZ :(

Not done any auto crossin it yet but will deff have a go when i get back to NZ. Cheers

  • You put a toyota engine in a bmw?

  • @StarsMarsRadio Sure did and im a BMW purist, but this engine is a stunner!! Great combination

  • wooow man i love it. i want to make my e30 that fast. what engine is been swamped? i completly loved it it sounds great.

  • @zepyoor1234 Hey mate, thanks for the comments. Its a 1UZFE Black top V8, good engine for an e30 for sure!

  • @zepyoor1234 Thanks fella. Its a 1UZFE black top. The sound of it is one of the major reasons I went for this engine

  • So what would be "better" in terms of cost to build vs power to 450hp? V8 vs Turbo i6?

  • More than likely the i6, but it wont sound like a V8 ;)

  • The V8 E30 will up up for sale very soon folks!

  • A big good luck with the sale! Hope it goes to a good home.

  • What track is this? Was watching, then realized I knew the track. Just drawing a blank on the name. Nice sounding e30! Not BMW i6 sound I like, but v8 sounds mean.

  • Its Ruapuna, in the South Island of New Zealand.

  • e30 one of the best chassis nect to the e36 and th 1uz what a potent combo no wonder the things a rocket well done.

  • Nice, but why no bmw v8? Something like a m60b40 or perhaps the e39 m5 v8?

  • I would of used a M60 but they are not as reliable as the 1uz, and also not many people no how to work on them here in NZ. Id love a M5 V8 but its just to expensive

  • I would happen to agree, I've owned & worked on both engines and as much as I like the M60 they are a bit of a dark horse compared to the 1UZFE which is just so easy to live with & upgrade.

  • any idea how much that engine weighs? Nice job

  • Its about the same as the m20, maybe slightly lighter. 170kgs rings a bell

  • nice car and skills dude :)

have you some thread about this e30?

  • hey i race an e30 at ruapuna too

  • Cool mate still building my E30 m3 1uzfe got a little side tracked keep on giving me motivation with your vids mate

  • Awesome mate! That sounds the mutts nuts!

  • Haha cheers fella

  • awesome car! When you say the gearbox was cut do you mean straight cut gears? I can knid of hear them I think haha oh and is it a vvti engine?

  • No just re cut gears mate, but the selectors have been dove tailed so it slips into gear 30% quicker and fully locks so im told. No its a non vvti engine :)

  • sweet, I'm trying to do a 1UZ swap on my 83 celica and hopefully It will be able to do everything your car does! 2 thumbs up mate

  • Mate im sure it will go very hard!

  • very nice !!

  • lol, you are killing me here!
