what aerie54 said is princess tutu in a nutshell. It really draws from the traditional fairytales (like original Grimm Brothers but even they watered it down to get published) all the characters represent different archetypes like there's a prince and a knight and an evil dude pulling the strings (pun totally intended!)

my favourite part of the series though was that it used music and choreography from real ballets like Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty etc.

i read the princess tutu manga lately, and its definatly not as good as the anime. which is controversial to alot of other series'...and there are only two volumes...and the ending is alot worse...of course i didnt like the anime ending, but its just wierd...

actually the bar at the bottom was to COVER the original subtitles XD a friend of mine said that since not everybody has an ear for opera, I should put the lyrics to the song in the bar so that it 'looked' like I did it for that lol
