They have made no secret of the fact that they intend to make it 'illegal' for essential workers to partake in any industral action whatsoever. Walsh has turned down his bonus for the last three years. However, £90,000 was paid into his pension fund last year and similar amounts were deposited in the previous two. When BA announced record losses of 401 million pounds in May of this year, Walsh offered to work for free in July. He has accepted a pay rise of 6% for this year, taking his salary to £735,000. If he feels that he is being exploited and that he is getting a raw deal, then perhaps he ought to get himself organised!

Unfortunately it`s not supply and demand that regulates pay in this country, it`s competition; and competition drives down wages! Why should the cabin crew tamely submit to an attack on their standard of living and their terms and conditions, simply because of the rotten system that awards only the likes of Walsh. If BA goes bust, then at least these principled workers can keep their dignity and walk away with their heads held high! No doubt there would be a position open somewhere for Walsh.
