  • i dont agree with trying to get her blood pressure around 3:07 unless they have to keep her there and/or waiting on something else.

  • Oh wow. MAST Trousers. That's how old this is!

  • @tnemt31283 1990

  • They tried to do this episode with Careflite in Dallas, TX but Careflite refused. The reason was that the producers had all the rescuer's run to the patient in order to convey a sense of urgency. Careflite never runs. Ever. Not even if it was a reenactment.

  • These guys are AMAZING at what they do!!!!

  • I wanna work for Life Fight lol

  • Trauma medical personnel are AMAZING!! I have so much respect for them, and their calm in crazy situations. No situation is the same, but they adapt to each one. Thanks guys!!

  • Whoever invented the helicopter=Win

  • The irony in the episode # being 216.

    =D

  • @AsileeDotCom i know right cause 216 is Cleveland`s area code.

  • I'm on the Valley City FD now. These are some great shots of our guys in action...about 20 years ago. Thanks for posting this!

  • good stuff!

  • I miss these shows

  • gllly,

    Yes. They had that equipment.

I became an EMT-B in the early nineties (I'm a Paramedic now), and they had short boards.

I think using a KED on combative patients is a protocol thing. We're supposed to use restraints. I'd prefer giving drunks a tranquilizer intravenously, but it's not always possible.

OTOH, You can't give combative trauma patients anything that will make them go to sleep, b/c their blood pressure will drop-not a good idea to drop blood pressure of trauma patients.

  • Does your service use RSI? If a PT's BP is low enough that you cant give versed then the patient will likely be unconcious, sooner or later.Etomidate has been found to decrease ICP while maintaining CPP,obviously a desireable effect in the combative head trauma PT. The combativeness in head trauma PTs can lead to an increase in ICP causing further injury; furthermore a PT with a GCS of less than 8 can not protect his own airway thus the need for an advanced airway.

  • I don't think so.

The only controversial device we use, that I know of, is the PASG (MAST) trousers.

I'm not a Senior Paramedic though. I'd have to ask my partner to be sure, but I don't think so.

  • You can use sedatives and pain control on patients with head injuries, it all depends on what your doc is comfortable with and their BP. There are certain agents that are more advantegous than others.

KEDs are only used on stable trauma patients with suspected neck and back trauma.

  • I hear You Nick. I have found them time consuming but they are beneficial if the Pt is in the front seat but hey are still awkward.

  • In Vegas, I don't think I have ever used the KED outside of the training enviroment. Fire usually just C-collars then puts em onto the longboard.

  • Metro should be attached to our hip, thats how many times we call them.

  • Metro life flight was on display at the airshow at the Lakefront airport. They also did a flyover.

  • haha life filght 3 is based out of my hometown of Canton,Ohio

  • the bad news here in the show's run they never shown "A motorvehicle accident" as a segment that would've been cool though the one I am talking of is in the intro.

  • I don't understand what you're getting at...The KED came much later than the short backboard and it is far superior (except for time as the previous guy mentioned). Things have changed, but in the sense that you cannot find a short backboard in service anywhere. In the early 90's, yes, they probably did have a choice between the two though, and the made the right choice.

  • I don't understand what you're talking about...The KED came after the short backboard and is far superior (except like the previous guy said about time). And yeah, stuff has changed in that you cannot find a short backboard anywhere!

  • Honestly, I have no idea.

  • You mean the KED? The KED is a very secure way to stabilize someone with a back injury but the problem is that there is no fast way to put someone in a KED. For the most part today we use the KED on drunks who are being uncooperative and are insulting/pissing off the rescuers. One of the thinest girls in my EMT class compared the KED to wearing a corset.

  • WOW, a Dr. working on a helicopter>? And doing a Cric with a Pocketknife? How MASH. That must be old school.

  • you can tell this is real old... no one is wearing gloves. i guess the BSI thing was not really an issue in 1991

  • Or seatbelts...

  • now I know this is just a dramatization but in 4 years of working in EMS I have never run any where... I guess they just run to the ambulance and helicopter on videos for public perception

  • If the girl didn't run the stop sign thios accident probaly never would of happened.

  • OMG! THEY PUT HER IN A KED??? I learned it as dead in the KED. A short backboard would be a better solution rather then putting her in a KED. With no barriers to get in the way, a KED takes just under 10 minutes to apply. A short board takes under 5 minutes.

  • Thats what you get for not wearing a seatbelt. There is no excuse to not wear one at all times.

  • My best friend was in a car accident and ejected from the vehicle. He WAS wearing a seatbelt. Learn some respect, you don't know the whole story!

  • Jimmyhird's comment doesn't apply to your friend, since he was wearing a seatbelt. Intentionally riding without a seatbelt is stupid. It may be sad when people who don't wear seatbelts get hurt or killed, but it doesn't make it any less stupid.

  • @allgood2000 are these films still on air?

  • William Shatner said that the footage was recorded exactly as it happened. I wonder if the footage was sent in by one of the local news stations in Cleveland like WJW.

  • If Shatner says, "This story is not a re-creation" then it was filmed by Rescue 911 camera crews. If he says "Some of the footage in this story was taped as events unfolded" then it was shot by a news station, an amatuer, or someone else.

  • @BigVideoFan88 could it not just mean that they set up a taping before hand and just rode along with the crew on whatever call they got? I'm pretty sure that the film crew from Rescue 911 still taped this.

  • Just after I was born at a nearby hospital, I was transported in the Metro Life Flight helicopter to the Metro General Hospital.

  • This is the only episode I remember where the opening background is a helicopter. Is this the only episode like this?

  • No, there are a lot of episodes that open with the helicopter. There are actually two different helicopter openings. You can see the other one on "Hayloft Hanging Hazard" from episode 506.

  • Thanks for the fast reply. I guess I need to start rewatching all your episodes again!!!

Thanks again for the wonderful entertainment.

  • GIVE MORE EPISODES OF RESCUE 911 NOW

  • Yo, cut it out, will you? Seriously, this is getting really old, and you're not cool at all, alright?!

  • MORE EPISODES OF RESCUE 911 NOW

  • That girl did broke her jaw? Why she had that brace on her chin?

  • Her jaw was shattered.

  • Next is Bobby Lee who has her stroke while at the desk.

I hope they postponed that wedding shower while Bobby was in the hospital!

  • allgood2000 Thank you so much for uploading these great videos! Too bad this show does not exist anymore.

I think now, people are more reluctant to help:

    1. everybody has a cellphone and would simply call and wait for help (unlike in 1990-s not that many people had them and often one would have had to run and call for help)

    2. many are afraid to be sued later by people they would help. Yes there is "The Good Samaritan Law", but sometimes the laws can be bypassed.

  • oo mtolife thats cool!

  • this is my hometown. Score!

  • I think the documentary segments are my favorite ones out of this show.

  • They go both ways. Sometimes they managed to catch some really interesting situations (like the pulsing knife). Other times it didn't really seem like they were able to get anything interesting, but they felt like they should it anyway. My favorite documentaries are the ones where they ride with police or firefighters.

  • Just wanted to say thanks for uploading all these for us! I have enjoyed them immensely! <3

  • God I love Rescue 911 I wish they would remake Them!

  • What's Next?

  • Haven't decided yet.

  • how about the segment where a father, after a car accident suffers a bad seizure and the only one there with him is his daughter.

  • First to post!
