  • @EpicWin Have you checked a tutorial on how to clean an xbox it might be clogged or it might be a hardware failure :l

  • Thank you soooo much man I was about to go and buy a new xbox but after I did this it works now

  • I know something pull out the leds make the leds only green bye bye red ring of death.

    Hello green ring of awesomeness

  • i do every think but the 3 red light is on still need help

  • Ive had an Xbox Arcade for about 2-3 years now, gotten a lot of service out of it. It only recently got a red 1/4 circle in the bottom right-hand corner of the power/circle thingy. What does this mean? Still works... I've heard people say it means it's overheating, but if that's the case, wouldn't it just cool down after you stop playing for a couple days? /i only play it like an hour or two every day or so anyways, why is it failing me now???

  • but then it turnes red again

  • I have the RRoD right now. I went to the xboxslave site and bought the xclamp repair kit, but I want to know, is it the same kit with the rubber washers that's in this video?

  • Could this be a permanent fix?

  • where can i get these screws and what are they called?

  • what sort/ size screws do i need and what are they called and can i find them at radio shack?

  • i followed everything but my xbox is still getting 3 rings.

  • I've heard of people needing to re tighten the screws after doing the overheat part which caused some to get loose. So if you're still getting the rings after this maybe try to retighten the screws or check your thermal paste application

  • i got mind fix on my own with out a heating gun and it work perfect no more red eye.

  • And I also don't feel any heat at all

  • @LosBlancos1000 when it gets to 2 lights u need to unplug it to turn it off..

  • Everything worked out fine and my xbox did gave 2 red lights but he never shut down it keep giving me 2 lights for hours. What did i do wrong?

  • @LosBlancos1000 when you get the 2 lights you unplug it!

  • thanks man! your video really helped me a lot and i was able to fix those nasty red lights!

  • I overheated my xbox 360, turned it off, and in 20 minutes later it worked again. It worked without me having to add more thermal paste or anything or even having to break it apart. Problem is eventually the red rings of death come back. Sooo....is this only a temporary fix? How is your fix different from mine? :(

  • @mdelavega19 your basically heating up the paste so its liquid again but then it just goes back to how it was and u get the lights again

  • @2020jonnybravo so is this fix temporarily? Is there any fix that is permanent?

  • @mdelavega19 the problem is that the console isn't getting rid of the heat. When it heats up the board flexes thanks to how the case was built. So the flexing combined with the heat is enough to mess with the soldering and basically lifts the CPU/ main chip ( not sure what one ). That causes the red rings. Just heating it is enough to reset it for the most part but the issue just comes back to how it was built.

  • I left it on for like 30 min and it stayed on 3 rings, it never went down to 2 rings

  • @fresh520 The fans have to stop working for it to go down to two red rings

  • that did not work now theres four red rings thanks man

  • @tRulez1234 lol four red rings means something is wrong with your cables, there not plugged in correctly or something

  • i done this it worked for abit then went right back to 3 red lights

  • You might have to make sure the washers and all is on correctly, it's been two years and mine haven't came back

  • Piece of shit Xbox

  • does this work for all types of red ring issues or just the three rings?

  • After I Get 2 Red Lights Do I Push The Power Button Or Unplug it let it cut Itself off What Do I Do?

  • That's marvelous I'm going to pull all five of my 360's out of the closet and get to work man...Thanks buddy

  • yeah i did everything and I still have the two red lights...

  • people do not use the screws they will damage your motherboard

use the xclmps which u removed

  • After It OverHeats Can I Plug My Fan Back On?

  • @Walker01mx Yes

  • After It OverHeats Can I Plug My Fan Back On

  • so when you put the heatsinks back on, you dont put the xclapms back on?

  • now i checked... forum hacked? wtf

  • I'm trying to fix it again, but when i'm waiting for the three lights to overheat to two, it's been an hour.....

  • i did this and couldn't believe it worked, except i got green as soon as i turned it back on after i screwed the sinks back down without letting it heat up again. when i put everything back together, i got the three rings again...i'm retrying it and letting it heat up. hopefully it doesnt work right off the bat again...

  • this is not a permanent fix is it? mine has been fixed 4 times now and i just reworked it again last night and its already red ringing.

  • IT WORKS LIKE A CHARM! BUT TO ALL WHO VIEW THIS YOU DONT NEED THE SCREWS- just use the old x clamp and screws as long as the arctic is on it and you put it back together correctly your good to go!

  • @salsa20luv maybe you gave me another reason to live XD

i hope it is my problem.. since my xbox have 3-4 years old... could it be?

  • What if the the fan doesn't work like the system doesn't know that it is on

  • I wonder if the new screws are the saGme size as the old ones. It would be helpful to know the size of the screws used. Gonna try this TONIGHT.

  • First, I would like to thank you for creating this video and making it free to the public.I found all three of your videos very informative and most of all very helpful. I've been to numerous, videos on youtube and yours is the best by far. I have not repaired mine yet, however I have direction on how to fix it and what to purchase. I have some electronics assembly training and the fix for me will be very simple, and with your videos it makes the fix easy. Thank you very much.

    Pablo, from CT.

  • the video says it's a fix for 1 red light but he is talking about 3 red lights, anybody know which is which

  • dude my xbox went crazy i did everything u said and just went crazy do anthor video if this one didn't work

  • I did like u said but the heat sink is not getting hot please help

  • Can we make it so we can use liquid cooling? If we do this it might never get a RROD again for the life time of the liquid cooling sytem.

  • @1112Hades yes i have seen it been done just search up liquid cooled xbox

  • nice work good quality understand now

  • mine wont overheat.. and i noticed the middle green light on his was blinking rapidly. mine isnt blinking at all. can anyone help?

  • its not getting hot and its been 20 mins

  • He sure does struggle with the screws, lol. Guess he's not very mechanically inclined.

  • The towel trick works for a very short time... this fix is easy, REAL, and it works for years. Trust me, I've done it. It has been a couple of years and now it's time to do it again. Much better than buying a whole new xbox.

  • Or you could wrap it in a towel.

  • Thank you so much for the guide. Worked great and now I have an Xbox finally.

  • awesome guide ill be doing this tomorrow when i get the necessary tools for the job really helped

  • Many thanks a lot for the video series. After being on the shelf for about a year I got the parts and fixed it in just over an hour. Works like new =)

  • Awesome job man, well explained!

  • When I start i back up, it seems like its gonna work. But, the fans start to speed up and just shuts off completely. Does anybody know why?

  • this dude is a fake if u look at the little round circles in the front when he first turns it on there tan then when he said we will come back in 20 mins the xbox changes he put a new xbox there cuz no the circle have like yellow rubber around them so this dude is a fuckin fake

  • @alex3370944 hes not fake i just did it and it worked but i knew it will only work for like 40 min it worked for a hour thats better then nothing ill find away to make it last longer but its real but we need to find out how microsoft did it thats what we need to know so it can last for months

  • @alex3370944 IT worked for me. After leaving it for about 15 min there were two blinking red lights. Then I unplugged the power, plugged in the fan, plugged power back in, powered it up and it was all green. Not sure if it matters, but I also had the A/V cable plugged in as well.

  • I followed the instructions and got two red lights at the end, do I need more thermal paste on the chips or what should I do?

  • @jazzpianist2011

no that means its working when u get to two red lights u turn the power off and let it sit and cool down then turn it back on and see if it works

  • @inFamousJaySquirly well this is when I turn it on to heat it up comes up as two lights not after heating, does that make sense?

  • @inFamousJaySquirly are you sure I never get the three red lights in the first place, I am confused!! sorry

  • @jazzpianist2011

    what do you have now?

  • @inFamousJaySquirly it's off now, when I turn it on to heat it I get two red lights not three, I tried with and without fan, and DVD too.

  • @jazzpianist2011 Do not follow this guide it will kill your Xbox not at first it will give you the allusion of being repaired but in fact you caused more damage to the Xbox and it will send it to a early grave this man has no background in electronic and is teaching you how to kill your Game system just to sale you bolts learn the truth on my channel

  • @HGCGamersClub ok I saw your channel so many vidoes please send me a link to you fix video thru your inbox or message or reply here..thanks

  • @HGCGamersClub ok I saw your channel so many vidoes please send me a link to you fix video thru your inbox or message or reply here..thanks

  • @inFamousJaySquirly I still get two red lights, someone said it needs more thermal paste?

  • @jazzpianist2011

how much thermal paste have you used? you don't want to use too much just enough to cover the two chips is all or whatever youre told to put paste on in this video. And many people say the thermal paste trick is permanent but it isn't for all xbox 360s. I recommend watching the video over again and check the thermal paste on the chips.

  • @inFamousJaySquirly well I think i used just a dab as in video. Do you think i used too much. someone said I need to use more even. But I guess I can take them off and reapply thermal paste.

  • also I used 1 metal and 1 rubber washer under the board and just 1 rubber for under each chip, because the chip would sit too high with 5mm screws!! so I didn't use as many washers! is that ok?

  • @jazzpianist2011

I'm not so sure about the washers thing I'll have to watch the video again. I'll get back to you on it, but if it doesn't work then I'd recommend getting a new xbox 360. They aren't that expensive nowadays, but if money is tight like it was for me then you can find a good used one. I was lucky to find me a limited edition resident evil xbox 360 with jasper chip online for $190 and it came with a game and two controllers. It isn't too hard to find a good xbox 360 for cheap.

  • I only had 1 ring before attempting to fix my xbox with your guide. I did everything you said, and it worked for a few minutes...now I have 3 rings. WTF happened ._.?

  • @InfiniteSpawn

the 3 red lights mean its a overheating problem and thats when u use this method that he shows in this video one red light means ur xbox 360 has a hardware problem and not a overheating problem but now ur console has more problems sometimes this method works on whichever ring you get but most of the time you have to use a different method to fix the one red ring its easier to get it fixed by microsoft if you have the warranty

  • The video skipped and the 20 min wait time and I did not see when you plugged the fans back up... am I missing something?

  • @emoneyblue

after u let it overheat and get to two red lights u turn off the console and dont put the plug the fans in yet then let it cool down for like 10+ minutes then turn it back on and the red lights should be gone then u can plug the fan in and put on the cover and reassemble the whole console after u trun it back off dont keep it on while reassembling it

  • Wha size screws did you use for the heat sinks?

  • as mapleasura

  • had the same problem as VVVVVV

  • K, so i followed every step up until the part where you have to leave it on to overheat.

It turned to 2 rings, but when i plug the fan back on and put the fan vacuum back on it turns back to 3rings.

    Can someone please help?

  • Worked like a charm!!!! Thanks much!!!

  • The process of going from 3 lights to 2 lights took about 1 minute. Is this long enough? Should i leave it on longer even though it has 2 lights? Please help!

  • oh my god it fing works your a genious. I I build computers. man your the best!!!!

  • thank you! going to amcs right now

  • @slingshot2427 Does you Xbox still work?

  • He should totally work for Microsoft. He's also really nice,we should pay him like atleast 20 bux for not letting us go and spend 300 bux for a new xbox...

  • @supergamerextreme Ight thank you

  • Wat if the green light on ur power chord dosent turn on

  • @tgoodsss You need a new power cord

  • haha 8:30 you just left ur xbox 360 un closed

  • lol this is to hard to do im only 14 yrs old LOL i think i'll just make the pro do it

  • Comment removed

  • @slingshot2427 Thanks for supply assistance. Just FYI the screws were a bit long so I had to make the old x clamp holes a little bigger.

  • thank u man great videos my xbox 60 working now ur great thanks again

  • worked great! thanks!

  • I did everything u said to do but i still keep getting the red ring...should i put more thermopaste on and scrape the old stuff off? idk what to do now i just want it to work again

  • For those who asked the little black screws are of no use with the new ones and the thermal paste keeps the 2 chips cool from overheating and frying.

  • Well I did what u said and after doing it wrong a few times I figured out what I was doing wrong and finally got my green lights on..one blew out but the xbox still turns on and I'm happy with the results of your video also the comment the guy made about cleaning the extra thermal paste from around the chip worked too..thanks!

  • thanks dude you are so helpful!!

  • so i take the old screws out and i put new screws in i dont get it? whats the clear lub stuff do do i put it on the screws or something let me know thankx

  • Comment removed

  • do not listen to this guy he is a fraud i ordered a disk drive from them and the fucker stole my money they are scamming you!!!!!! so fuck you man!!

  • so with the new screws installed i guess you cant screw in the 4 little black screws on that held the xclamps to the case, do you just not use them?

  • does this really work? i have my whole xbox taken apart including the heat syncs taken off. If this works for real ill get the materials and start fixing it! Great video by the way, easy instructions!

  • @TheJukeBoxHero69 Thats not true. Although you need the drive to update the console you can turn it on and connect it to live without the drive. Ive done it many times recently

  • You sir a genius!! had to change the type of screw and stuff but it worked nonetheless.. Good bye RRoD~!!! :D :D

  • good video formats thanks for spending time

  • hey xbox slave, I have done everything step for step in your video and when i plug it in for overheating, it does not get hot at all.....why? And yes, i bought the kit from u guys.

  • It doesn't work for me. I used the thermal paste (even the gold one!) and turned the xbox on. It went from 3 red lights, to 2 red lights in a few minutes.

I then turned the console off, let it cool down and turned it on.... again Ring of death.

Did the same thing again but no result.

    Any idea's?

  • To you people getting the two red lights just plug the fan in and place one side over the CPU heatsink and the other so it will not cool gpu

  • you are the F'n man I love you.lol. worked like a champ.

  • DON'T START IT UP WITHOUT THE DISK DRIVE IN! THAT CAN GET YOU BANNED FROM LIVE!

  • Hy,

My Xbox had the 3 light problem and I´ve been able to fix it but almost immediately, the E74 error show up. Could you help me? Could it be because I didn´t put new screws and the rubber? Also, thank you for the video, I know it works; my problem is different.

  • Buy the kit from redringxbox.co.uk if it doesn't work you get your money back!

  • does this mean I need more thermal paste! most said not to put too much paste?

  • I get two red lights at the end to heat the box!! what does that mean!! went to forum site and could not find answer please help....Thanks

  • my xbox gets the 2 red rings after about 2 minutes and then I turn it off and connect fan and that white thing. when i turn it back on it goes back to the 3 red rings. what do you think the problem is.

  • @jenner150 After the 2 minutes you have to let your 360 cool down with a regular house fan for 20 minutes

  • Not many people are willing to share their knowledge for free, and you are among those exceptions. May the gods bless you for that bro!

  • hey ive been trying to fix me own xbox and i have two problems....one is thaat me heat sinks dont look like the ones in the video ( i have the elite system which is black) and me xbox starts to work briefly but has lines on the screen and followed all procedures except for the washers and screws because once again me heat sinks are different...someone please help Rastaman!!!!!! Selassie-I

  • I was expecting him to fry when he touched the metal case with the xbox plugged.

  • Hey Xbox Fam....If you have any questions go to XboxSlave (dot) com/Forums and get help

  • @FixYourOwnXbox i have the xbox 360 elite black 1 i tried this and same result rrod that part im kinda confused is where you turn it on without the fan so it can heat up after do i connect the fan? and my xbox 360 doesnt heat up plz respond i wanna play my xbox 360

  • @FixYourOwnXbox THANKS MAN!!!!!!!!MY XBOX DOSE NOT HAVE RED RINGS OF DEATH!!!!!!MY DAD HELPED ME ON THIS 2!!!!!AGAIN THANKS MAN!!!

  • @FixYourOwnXbox this isn't a question i wish to ask about the xbox, but you seem insane smart smarter then my dads friend who was a massive smart guy but..., are you graduated from college? or...?

  • @FixYourOwnXbox i dont get one thing, the title says 1 red light which what i have right now, but your video shows how to fix 3 rings, why is that??? i need help with 1 ring not 3, so can you help me

  • lmao this was a good experience thanks dude

  • my xbox wouldnt get hot I left it on for mor then two hours and it didnt evan warm up so i conected the fan after that it started getting hot so after twenty minets i disconected the fan and it went to two lights so i left it cool off for about an hour and came back to it i conected the fan put the disc drive back on and turnd it on i seemed to have worked no more e74 but now it constantly goes to two red lights evan with the fans and turns off

  • @rednavaju that is because you have to put more thermal pound to the chips... trust me, the thermal pound just squeeze to outside the chip, you have to disassembly and put more thermal compound, in both chips (cpu gpu) and then reassembly, see what happen!!!! good luck!

  • you forgot to mention that without any additinal cooling mods, the problem will re-occur regardless of better heat sinks. The xbox problem is due to not having a decent level of heat removal and air flow to the inside of the case. I will be doing a case mod video of how im going to provide better cooling for free to an xbox 360

  • what happens if the xbox doesn't get hot and go to 2 red lights?

  • @slingshot2427 does it work for the elite?

  • @MrChaney38 yes

  • what happens if you only have 1 red light instead of 3, do you still need to do the same thing?

  • Great video, but the video title says one red light, not three... :s

  • Dude...I don't fix things. But I followed the video and totally fixed my xbox! Thanks a bunch, man.

  • can i use toothpaste as thermal paste

  • @tookieg100 yes. it actually works better because it leaves your console smelling minty.

  • @tookieg100 haha

  • @tookieg100 Rofl yes if you want to remove the bacterials of your gpu :]

  • Just bought a kit, i will let you know if it works, and about the kit.

  • yeah so if its been fixed once will it work again, cuz mine was fixed before and i did the fix again just now and it still has the ring?

  • still 3 reds; should I just do it again

  • i thought u had 1 red light, not 3 red lights?

  • YEYY,.I.,HAVE.,THIS.,GAME,.AND.,THE.,LATEST.,XBOX.,GAMES.,THANKS.,TO.,MY.,ACCOUNT.,ON.,THIS,.WEBSITE WWW.360DOWNLOAD.ORG #FTW

  • Good bless you

  • thanks man now i can help fix my friends xbox. P.S. does everything you used come in the repair kit

  • i did everything minus the rubber washers could that be the only reason why it didnt work??

  • How do I fix the 2 red rings

  • omg dude works perfictly, thank you...

  • some videos show the board being attached to the steel case by drilling the wholes larger? is this true I guess because the board would move around if it's not attached? especially if you try to plug and unplug stuff the pressure would displace the board. Please reply.

  • @slingshot2427 the Machine Screws have to be Flathead other wise the pan head or the round head is too high for under the board and it will not sit flush in the case.

  • keep getting e71 e79 and now e68 what dose that mean cleaned all in side everything is plunged in properly what do i do?

  • keep getting e71 e79 and now e68 what dose that mean cleaned all in side everything is pluged in properly what do i do?

  • Wow the xbox 360 slim disentangle get RROD so I'd suggest investing in a new 360

  • do you plug the fan back in ever?

  • wwwwwwwwwwwoooooooorrrrrrrrrkeeed for me

  • It wouldn't overheat on it own, put it in my oven and got it the heatsinks hot to the touch. Also I would only tight the nuts with just your fingers, it was too tight the first time I tried it until I did that.

  • this is not a good way of fixing i would rather take off xclamps and put flux under both GPU and CPU and on the ram chips put new thermal paste put heat sinks back on put 4 washers on each heat sink put xclamps back on then over heat it let cool then it should work i did this with 3 xboxs all are still work i can make a vid about it the fix shown in the vid is stupid i did this with same xboxs i fix with my metod and it worked for a week

  • if i were to buy an Intercooler TS. Would that help the Red Rinf od Death not occur at all? im just about to buy one and i want it to last.

  • @BigTonyWarrior it would likely help since the issues are caused by heat buildup. I also have to not my RRoD came after the kids starting playing Kinect games heavily.
