  • It's really sad to see!!! I remember going there as a child, I used to love that place!!!!

  • Quite an impressive feat building all of that, even if you are an atheist and not a follower of any kind of religion. There sure was some effort put into the construction there.

  • There is still so much to see at the site. Great Work!!! We also did a piece on our show at Ghost Chat New England.

  • Anyone who is interested in trying to fix this place up contact me! I have been up there more than twice and it really isn't THAT dilapidated. The big statue near the cross can still be seen from the highway. The cross is brand new and the replica of calvary is still intact. It is the little buildings that are in pieces.

  • @tieyourmotherdown1 I am very interested in helping,I do often bring my rake and help clear small trails,

  • I hope this gets more and more dilapitated. ATHEISM IS THE ONLY WAY. All you religious folk, stop fucking up this country. Go to the middleeast where its already fucked up and practice your false bull shit there!

  • @mase5701 Sir, in all due respect to you, the United States of America was founded by devout Christians. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States of America is profoundly Christian thought.

God bless you. Jesus is Lord.

  • @amd7787 My friend, you should probably try something other than just blindly accepting without question what others have ingrained into your mind since before you said your first word......Pick up a book, read the Constitution. You will be amazed that God -or any kind of reference to any higher power at all-- is NOT MENTIONED ONCE in the Constitution.

  • @mase5701 Please consider the authority of God. I only say this because I care for you and believe Christ will return soon to judge us. These current events were predicted by Jesus Christ over 2000 years ago. Please read Matthew 24 if possible.

I'm not trying to be an antagonist, I'm just trying to help. Thanks for your time.

  • @amd7787 They weren't.

People looked at the predictions and a single prediction was confirmed on several dates. Meaning they were bound to happen eventually.

I predict that a cataclysmic event will come soon in the near future.

A flood? Earthquake? Volcano? Hurricane? Who knows. It will happen eventually :)

  • Jesus is Lord.

  • @amd7787 pathetic fool. believe what they tell you

  • when I was a kid we used to visit my grandmother in Waterbury and always went to Holy Land , too bad it's fallen to such disrepair

  • I'm from Bristol, CT and I remember seeing the huge cross on top of the hill (I believe it is also visible from state route 8 south) and asked my parents about it but they don't know all the details of its significance. Come to find out it's a former religious theme park, very unusual! Wish I was back east to at least to see what is left of it.

  • I visited (when I was visiting my parents in Connecticut) this site in August and wish someone would spend some time to cleaning and fixing up this holy site.

  • John Greco was my dad's uncle. So he was my great uncle. Anyways, our family spoke highly of him being as intelligent and creative that he was. He was a lawyer, then a designer of this amazing place. Now that he's deceased and left a lot of money to the archdiocese, they haven't taken care of it as well as they should. Sad, really.

  • R I P holy land

  • Crazy and funny.

  • funny

  • nice vid

  • great music selection brah!

and does anyone know about the house next to it,

and the heroine dealers at night?

i went up there one day a couple weeks ago

the church was wideopen with a few cars,

so im guess people still have the keys

why the fuck arent they taking care of it

you think st.francis or st.annes would help?

  • what the fuck, half this shit isnt even there anymore. i just went a couple weeks ago and none of those signs really are there. most of the buildings are totally gone, it looks like you got to see it when it was in better condition than it is now.

  • I haven't been to holy land since I was a kid. There were still people visiting after it had closed officially if my infant memory serves me. I drive passed the signs all the time (on baldwin st), one of the many bad sections of the city. Greco didn't see that coming. Waterbury is a failed attempt at a city and I can't wait to leave here.

  • My Brother came out here from Colorado with is wife ans kid's whom had never been to Waterbury. He wanted to take his children up to Holy Land. When he arrived thats what he saw! It really sucks that the city can't take care of the place. Who pays the bill to keep the cross lit? If it's the city they are FAKES! They want the cross lit but wont fix up the place! sorry.

  • The Town of Waterbury seems to be in decay as well. Some people want Holyland to be torn down altogether for a nature sanctuary. (and why not tear down the whole town while your'e at it) Others think it should be revived. Maybe it fell into decay because people got bored with it. The Monastery doesn't seem to care of it's fate. Maybe Holyland USA is obsolete.

  • dude how do you know there are toxic chemicals up there? I dont recall Holy Land being on any superfund lists?

  • Dude...I can't believe you went in there. It's closed for a reason. There's toxic chemicals in the ground there. People could get really sick for going. That's one of the reasons they keep it locked up (There's lead)

  • I've never been up there. My mom went up there all the time too since she use to live right down the street. Her and her friends would come home after school at St. Anne's and walk there.

  • I always see the giant cross driving through Waterbury. I didnt know why it was there until a few years ago.

  • it's terrible how everyone is wrecking it..and the liberals are trying to get rid of it altogether

  • How exactly are liberals trying to get rid of it altogether? And even if they are, wouldn't that be better than it being in the disgraceful condition it's in now?

If you feel so strongly about it then maybe as a good conservative christian you should look into getting some your fellow christians together, use some of the financial blessings that your god has given you and offer to fix the place up.

  • Liberals? Who was supposed to care care of it in the first place and not let it get run down? It's a mess now, so what are they "trying to get rid of?" The church could try to raise money to save it.

  • Dude, I went up there the other day, the place is TRASHED!! My mom said she used to go up there as a kid and it looked soooo much better then it did now. Bet you saw the Anarchie symbols all over the place? The stuff they did was retarded. It's called 'Holy Land' for a reason right?
