I was 9 years old when this first aired and I knew full well it was a man, but I loved it. Of course being raised in Los Angeles drag queens were not that rare even back then, HAHA
Finally! .. I was just a tiny one when this was on, but i could not remember exactly what it was. until i saw the oracle! whew.. that has bugged me for years and years ! thank you very much.! !
This was such a good show. And brings back so much memories. It's been over 25 years since I watched this show. Another classic much like G.I. Joe and Transformers.
They should do a show like this again. But then again, nobody will be like Billy Van. He was the best. Portraying 10 characters to perfection. Just awesome stuff. He should've been on SNL or something.
I guess perhaps who could follow in his footsteps are people like Mike Myers, Will Farrel, Ben Stiller, etc.
If there was one show my mom and I could watch together it was this one. I remember they would play it at 6am before school so i would get up early before anyone else just so we could watch it together.
In reality,,despite the shows low budget and dismal reviews....The show was complete Genius! The show became a cult classic for a reason and this people must not overlook.
I remember as a kid meeting Billy Van at the Gage Park Library in Hamilton. He was reading stories as "The Librarian" but I didn't realize the significance until later when I began watching the show. It's nice to know my brother and I aren't the only fans.
Classic. "Hello...no" killed me. Then the egg! Hahaha.
I watched this show religiously as a boy--they don't call it TV programming for nothing. I really think this show affected me deeply. Incredibly bizarre and potent. One of a kind.
Like everyone who posts I loved this thing. Recorded at CHCH in ontario canada...billy a very talented guy. There is a story that when Vincent Price was approached he almost begged to be involved he loved it so much. Wonderful Canadiana
I could envision a modern Grizelda as the anti-Martha Stewart, wreaking havoc not just in the kitchen but everywhere else around the house. Worse, that ugly witch thinks she's some great beauty - she was hysterical, and is certainly a favorite character on Frightenstein.
Grizelda was my favourite charcter that Billy Van did on HHOF. The only thing missing from this clip was the spider. I loved when she smacked it (as well as Polly)!! Anytime Grizelda used an egg, I was in hysterics. Oh, by the way, I prefer this Grizelda voice to the scratchy one.
This show really brings back a lot of fond memories. Got a good laugh out of it seeing it now that i am much older. Thanks ! She's the Best Grizelda ( thanks to Billy ) He brought her to life.

Ghastly old Grizelda, she was my favorite on this show.
As an adult I realize now that she is based on a retired drag queen just hanging out in her kitchen and entertaining friends.
Fond memories with this show.

Between this show and ANYTHING by Sid and Marty Kroftt, it's obvious that acid was the 'in-drug' at the time. Billy Van was an under-rated genious.
