When I lived in homeless shelters, bipolar was the diagnosis for many of the homeless, after a ten minute interview. Of course, the next step was to medicate, and if the person refused medication, they would be accused of non-compliance and were threatened with eviction from the shelter. Very sad indeed. We live in a time of great confusion and corruption.
@elizabethfaraone that's sad, I felt I was pushed drugs on when I was younger around the age of 15, my parents always put their trust in psychiatrists, not knowing the damage antipsychotics have had one me.
@madbandicooot I was fortunate to grow up with a mother who questioned the authority of the medical establishment. She was a nurse and she understood it's limitations. But for those who don't have parents who have the inside scoop, it is important for us to stand up against the arrogance and recklessness of psychiatrists. I suspect you can sue the psychiatrist. But of course, that doesn't help you much, although it may serve to educate the doctor. Hopefully, your brain will heal. Give it time.
@elizabethfaraone thanks, Not sure if I could sue the psychiatrists now some have moved away, some side effects have gone away, but I think others like dementia have stayed. I hope for many other people they will have Informed consent, and psychiatrists will limit the use of these drugs rather than handing them out like sweets to children...it gives me tears to watch videos of people suffering from these terrible drugs. take care now.
@elizabethfaraone how exactly do u know if you have brain damage from these drugs? do antidepressants cause the same damage? its hard to believe becasue once these kids come off the psyc drugs they are completely normal i dont think anything is permanent
@dannyboidj1 Oftentimes what is not obvious is ignored. Talk to anyone who is aware of the brain damage that occurs every time they have a seizure. They often appear normal to others, but are not functioning as they would like. Those who stretch the use of their brains (musicians, artists, scientists) can feel the decrease in brain function. My friend who had HIV and was a musician slowly started to lose his mental abilities. It was only obvious to him when he played his guitar.
@dannyboidj1 Yes, antidepressants also damage the brain. Street drugs damage the brain. When I lived in Tulum, many young, beautiful men and women were using illegal hard drugs and they believed they were not damaging their brains. I accidentally ingested a laced cookie and I later tested my brain function with a game. I did lose something. With children, it may not be so obvious because they are developing and they don't know what their potential brain power is.
@dannyboidj1 Remember, there is no evaluation by the medical establishment of the side effects of these drugs. They never test their patients before and after brain function.
@elizabethfaraone so can you safely say that my brain will recover being so young, it would appear that it is better to be on these drugs when you are young so it can recover, or is it the complete opposite?
@dannyboidj1 No, the safety of these drugs has not be evaluated properly. Some people feel they must use medications to maintain a psychological balance. I don't have the answers, but I do think they should only be used as a last resort. Before medicating for problems with the mind, other methods of handling the problems should be explored. The brain is often able to recuperate from damage. But it's best to avoid the damage, when you can.
@dannyboidj1 When you are on medications and you decide you think it is better not to use them, it is very important that you work with your doctor in helping you to stop using medications. Otherwise, you may experience a crisis when you stop using them. For example, if you are trying to stop using anti-depressants, you could feel extremely depressed and suicidal. It's a slippery slope. It is important to be kind to yourself and to be gentle with yourself.
@dannyboidj1 And Yes, the brain can often recover. The important thing is to be calm and not to react with anger or fear and to live in acceptance of mistakes. Remember to have compassion for yourself and for others.
@dannyboidj1 One more thing. As a child I hit my head really hard and I felt the effects. I did suffer some brain damage, even though it was never diagnosed. I also had severe headaches for a long time. But I can say that later in life, my brain functioned at a very high level. I was able to understand biology and chemistry at a college level and I was one of the highest achieving students. So don't be afraid that the damage is irreversible. OK?
@elizabethfaraone ok thats great to hear that the damage is reversable but how can u tell if there is even damage done in the first place. i was never injected with hard drugs or given various amounts like people in mental health units? are you sure that the brain can go back to normal once the drugs are stopped? and if so where are you getting your facts from. thanks for responding
@dannyboidj1 I'm not sure of anything. I'm just sharing my experience. You'll have to determine if your brain has been damaged. What do you think? Do you think your brain has suffered damage? And if so, do you think that it can recover? Is it important for it to fully recover? Is it necessary to have all of the mental abilities that are possible? Or is it better to just be relaxed about it all. Are you still taking antidepressants? Do you find them helpful?
@elizabethfaraone i did find them helpful at first they helped me through my first couple years in highschool then once they stopped i was given higher doses after that didnt work i realized i needed to get off of them so i started weening down over the next couple years however once i got to 10mg of celexa i starting having panic attacks, thankfully i found a naturopath who is brilliant wrote numerous books and is very qualified, i am on his treatment plan to get off these drugs, i feel ok
@elizabethfaraone lol no problem hes great im in good hands trust me the man is brilliant. and for christ sakes this medication cannot be that bad for you or else it wouldnt be approved and if it was some type of conspiracy which is crap, the cover would have been blown and every one of these drugs would be taken off the market. i hope everyone else sees this as well to stop complaining and these drugs damaging people.
@dannyboidj1 The problem is arrogance and ignorance. The drugs are, in fact, not safe. A lot of the depression that people feel is appropriate depression. And most psychotic episodes can be relieved without medicine. Most psychiatrists believe depression and psychosis are chemical imbalances. Those more competent in the area of psychology and medicine often understand that it is not as simple as that. Read "Toxic Psychiatry" by Peter Breggin.
@dannyboidj1 Who said it is a conspiracy? Maybe a few scientologists, but I think all you are doing is prejudging legitimate criticisms with an inane concept that betokens a complete ignorance of millenia of debate about the aetiology and psychology of evil. Read some Solzhenitsyn, Szasz or Arendt and what they have to say about evil, and disabuse yourself of the idea that people who hate psychiatry or the pharmacological paradigm of torture are conspiracy theorists.
@elizabethfaraone but still something does not feel completely right, i wonder if this is just temporary because my brain is trying to get used to being drug free, or if there is something tweeked in my receptors being on these drugs for 8 years, either way i am sure everything willl go back to normal but i want a scan of some sort jsut to make sure .
@dannyboidj1 The brain doesn't always recover after the cessation of psychiatric drug-taking. This is especially true for many people who have been on antipsychotics and benzodiazepines for a long period. Neuroleptic induced tardive dyskinesia, for example, remains for many after the cessation of taking the drug.
@Transmintosity i agree with psychiatry i believe orthomolecular healing is more effective. i was only taking celexa for OCD i took seroquel for a little bit as well but not a high dose i believe brain damage is only caused when on these drugs for a long period of time i was mainly only taking celexa for 8 years and cholomapharine ( however you spell it ) for 3.
@dannyboidj1 with you on psychiatry* however, when you say the brain doesnt always recover from, psychiatric drug use, what exactly doesnt the brain heal from? thanks for your response
I was on Ritalin since 4th grade and now that I am 25 (and may not have had ADD)
This drug I am no longer on has left side effects, that make some people belive I was on speed which I was aperently for many years as the medication given to me from Mom was infact a stimulant drug.
But the deepest hurt the bond even then bettween me and my Mother.
A child needs to be parented by a Parent not druged becuase a lab coated man has told them they can not succed, without drugs.
@Patternpop I'm not saying I don't think it is over prescribed and I'm certainly not saying it doesn't have any nasty side effects. I just think I would have done better in school if I had been on it.
Then you can go to the Shrink and this stranger will diside if it is "correct" for you.
But be aware (as one human being to the next) that the last satistic I heard was that of 100 people going to Shrink around 98 to 99.9 get labled AND medicated for something. I used to have such a higher IQ then I have now and will never get it in this flesh again.
Just please be careful before medicating a growing Pychie, at least with an adult there is some hope of recovery.
@Patternpop same here, I was on many antipsychotics from the age of 15 upwards, now I'm 23 and taken them for years, I have had many fights with my parents about letting me take these brain-damaging drugs, and of course my parents put all their trust in Psychiatrists, without knowing about how damaging antipsychotics really are.
@madbandicooot i have been on antidepressants since i was 13 i am now 21 do u think i will have brain damage because things do seem a bit weird or is brain damage simply for antipsychotics?
@dannyboidj1 I believe that the body has a remarkable way of recovering, alot of side effects have gone away for me but I believe others havn't such as less able to feel emotionally. again though I know my body better than others so when you have problems such as this you notice it.
@madbandicooot thats good news i wonder what the recovery rate is? i think i need to get in contact with a professional or someone who can answer these questions, do you know anyone who can? Thanks, and is your mental capacity still intact?
@pbtwentythree do you feel that these drugs are brain damaging and if so who can i get in contact with in terms of a professional to answer these questions? thanks
@dannyboidj1 These drugs are definitely brain damaging, neurodegenerating drugs. You don't need to go to a 'professional', the professionals, at least most of them, forfeited their right to be taken seriously when they became mendacious scumbags and meretricious ad-men and women for their odious pimps at good old Big Pharma, the despicable vermin. Big Pharma, in collusion with P$ychiatry, has built a lucrative industry on the corpses of men, women and children, and I loathe them.
@dannyboidj1 I suggest you do the same, if only to vaccinate yourself against the corruption of the age, and to protect your humanity, assailed on all sides by the moral degeneracy of our age. They must be judged in the most excoriating terms for these crimes against humanity. These people crystallize the concept of the banality of evil.
Then losers like Lisa Bloom goes on TV and says molested children grow up to be prostitutes.
