Polygamy is still a bedrock part of Mormon doctrine. There has been no change in D&C section 132, it's still canonized scripture. At least two of the apostles are currently sealed for eternity to two women. Mormons only stopped polygamy with multiple LIVING wives. If a woman is sealed to a man and that man dies then she cannot be sealed to another man. This has an impact on the ability of young LDS widows trying to remarry. Polygamy is not gone from Mormonism.
Being sealed to more than one wife and polygamy aren't the same thing. Do you believe in eternal marriage? If so, than you would understand the doctrine that supports it. If not, why would you care?
My wife died when she was only 28. I was 26 and just recently started dating again. Are you saying that I shouldn't remarry because that's "polygamy?" Just because you reference a scripture that you don't understand nor can you relate to doesn't make your argument valid.
@Xilynx I'm saying that Mormon doctrine still includes plural marriage. Whether you call it "polygamy" or not is splitting semantical hairs. Mormons teach that many men will have more than one wife in the hereafter. I daresay I understand section 132. What I say is that if you are sealed to a second wife the LDS teaching is that you will have at least two wives in the eternities. I'm not saying what you ought or ought not do other than be honest and candid about LDS teachings.
I got a copy of the Book of Mormon from a hotel room. I started to read it---and much like the Hebrew Bible (on which I was raised), it is pretty ridiculous. Do you actually believe that Joseph Smith found these gold plates? Really??
I am out and have supportive leadership. My mission helped me a lot. Several of my companions have come out and we are very close. I still believe in the church and attend.
Have you read the book "In Quiet Desperation" by Ty Mansfield published by Deseret Book? He is a gay mormon like us. Reading it changed my outlook completely on how I view and deal with my attraction. I would highly recommend it.
i really feel for you, i cant imagine going thru all that. just posting these vids can get u kicked out of church. lds church is more strick & controlling than others. i feel u are choosing ur words quite carefully & understand. 1 life
lol nice vid, btw where are u in the video? and im not mormon but ur a good example to portraying mormonism as a non-cultish sect! and should b treated like any other denomination of christ!
How did the Mormons come to change their views on polygamous marriages and on child brides? Both policies were originally justified using Old Testament texts. I ask because it could provide some indication of how they might change their views on gay marriage.

you mentioned that mormons once agreed with polygamy
if they get enough heat whos to say they wont accept homosexuality
in the past the mormons core beliefs change like the wind blows
they were against blacks being key in their church but then woke up that that wasnt popular so they fell in to line with most of the worlds thinking
please no one dare claim that this was a revelation from heavenly father
it should have just been common decency

So it's a year later... do you still believe in it? I used to... but studying more about the origins of it freed me from that belief. :)

Just sent you a response to that book written by a gay affirming LDS Bishop. There are some gaping holes in the book by Mansfield.
