  • Sweetie,i had a couple questions for you.How long is DI school? Is there a limit as to how many yrs he can be a DI? what time does he come home from work, and get up in the mornings? I'm sure it must be hard having him work such long hrs. hardly seeing him . b4 my hubby was forced to retire from his job, i had a rule..leave work at the front door. His home is his castle,a place for happiness, relaxation, serenity and i kept it that way.

  • @thecolaratlady DI school is three months. DI duty is three years with a minimum of 1 or 2 years before you can return (I think). He got up at 3 am and got home around 8:45pm sometimes earlier sometimes later, depending on where they are in the cycle. every 2-3 days he would have duty, but that depends on how many hats per team and how new the hats are. He worked approx. 18 hrs a day 7 days a week for 3 months at a time with a week or 2 in between each cycle 3 mths for 3 yrs.

  • @MarineDIwife Ok thank you. Makes me even gladder that i made the decision i did when i was like 15

  • Although I'm Army, great video.

  • your kids are never steppin outta line with him

  • Thank your husband for his service and dedication to the Corps. My son just graduated PI and had nothing but respect for his DI's, despite the pain! Great men and women

  • does he yell at you "say aye aye sir!"

  • @bubbakushbmg no, he has never done that stupid.

  • Respond to this video... seriously?

  • @MarineDIwife does he scream i mean? does he call u recruit

  • @MarineDIwife Ma'am, I just wanted to say I never had the privilege of training under your husband. However I saw him training other marines during my time there. May I ask what platoon he trained during this video?

  • once a marine.. always a MAN!!

  • I'm in the army infantry , they should give the acu camo uniform only to us , I hate to see idiots in the army that work here never get deployed , they act like they are , 11b

  • @AWSOMELYRAW I rly have no clue what the hell that has to do with anything.lol Like how that even came up on a MCRD video or anything. No one should have to wear ACU because it doesnt blend with shit.

  • Was your husband a D.I. in the 3rd Battallion in 2006?? Im pretty sure he was In 3109 or something like that. i was 3110.

  • at 2:39 was he throwing up on those recruits hahah

  • Man im about to have an experience of a life time in boot camp..really cant waite.

  • my blessings to you and your family, many in my family have done their part. If it wasnt for men like you husband, alot of our boys would not be coming back. Thank You

  • Great video! Love it.

  • Awesome video! We couldn't do what we do whithout the support of our loved ones. I'm a 17 year Navy Chief and without my wife, I would have never made it this far!

  • Way to go!! Amazing video

  • Thanks to MEN like your husband..I'm the Man I Am Today... I've Been Out The Corps For Years Now..But I Can Remember The Day When My Senior Looked Me Square In The Eyes And Shook My Hand With The Firmest Grip And Said Welcome To The Family MARINE...Meant More to hear that than anything. And Funny I See My Old Series Rag In the clip..2080 but my 2080 was evil echo co. SEMPER FI DO OR DIE

  • @MrATL27 Our company 1sgt and Series Co said that to me. My drill hat smiled when I recieved my Eagle Globe and Anchor and had to gently (for the first time in 3 months) scoot me to attention haha. best day of my life. period.

    Semper Fi devil.

  • I was not a Marine but I have much respect for the Corps. Thank your husband for protecting my rights and freedoms!

  • Man, that brings up so many memories. I know I am alive because when i watch something like this, I still Get goosebumps. God I am so glad i chose the Marine Corps....Semper FI.

    Get some Gunny!

  • Man, that brings up so many memories. I know I am alive because when i watch something like this, I still Get goosebumps. God I am so glad i chose the Marine COrps....Semper FI.

    Get some Gunny!

  • Im starting basic training for the marines soon and im ready for this ive been waiting my entire life

  • Thats my senior drill instructor!!!!!! now this is motivating.

  • I wish there was a way, on a computer, to give a salute to you and your husband. You both deserve it. Thank you for your service to, and sacrifice for your country.

  • bma051000...Why do you think the government is giving these marines anything. They povide the security so that you can make "your own living". Try doing what you do in , let see; Uganda, North Korea, Libya, Syria, etc. I am glad that you are an atheist. In many other countries you would not have thwe freedom to be an atheist, or for that materr, maybe antything..We will let you live in the USA doing your software thing. Whysdo they call it software pussy? An Army combat medic.

  • your husband was my drill instructor.... when you have the picture of the drill instructors and i believe theres7 all wearing deserts, from left to right is Sgt VegaVelazquez(at that time) Sgt Rivera, a new sdi section first sgt your husband, gysgt Rea, and I forgot who the other one was.... he went to 2nd BN on July of 08' he should remember our company, G.... or the Co. that a lot of d.i's got Court marshaled 2054was my plt but most of the problems where in 2048. I still remember his voice....

  • That's super awesome of you doing this for him! GIVE EM ONE!!!!!!

  • Im a Marine ! love it

  • i love the USMC D.I.'s. they strike fear into the recruits with just the look in their eyes. thanks for making this video. Oorah.

  • I wish my dad was a DI. lol, would be scary tho too. If I fail school hahaha

  • If I had to turn a child of mine over to a stranger for their safety, I would pick a Marine Drill Instructor.

  • I still talk to my DI's, once you graduate Parris Island, they're not such bad guys lol.

  • Man the 5 scariest words in my life so far are Senior Drill Instructor Sgt Gonzales. It's hard to imagine them having families and children. But being a Drill Instructor would be extremely difficult and respect to their families.

  • @liv34today Mine were, "Incoming, incoming, incoming, incoming, incoming" :P I know what you mean though, when you are down in PI as a recruit they sure do strike fear in your heart. My worst one was Sgt Fripp. I saw him in Iraq though and I couldn't believe how different he was :)

  • There are few men who you will hate more and love more than your Drill Instructors. I ran into one of my DI's a few years ago in a restaurant at home. I was locked tight and squared away for two days. Parris Island was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I'd love to go back and do it again. For those who haven't been there, get your butt in shape and strive to be the best because in 13 weeks you will become one of the best. It takes a special person to train young men to be leaders

  • god bless you husband a Drill Instructor and you

  • ooorahh

  • GOD bless you both and I am proud of your husband for you. So thankful they are on our side and doing such a great job of turning males into MEN, men who defend our country and put it all on the line.

  • My son is in the Navy and I am very proud of him and all our servicemen. I love your tribute.

@bma051000 Wouldn't recognize Honor, Courage and Commitment if it hit him in the face.

  • Damn Benicheck. Why do you look so stressed out as a senior dog? Whats the matter your greenbelts aint kicking stress. Ha ha. Good Video

  • GOIN TO BOOT ON MONDAY OHHHHRAAAHHHH

  • I share with them contrary to popular belief that the ONLY reason why they have to be loud is to make eyeballs click and ears listen so that when the day comes a MARINE has to fight to protect our freedom that they will be confident in their skills and abilities make absolutely certain to show your appreciation to an unsung hero who sacrifices their life to preparing our nations best and though they might ask you not to thank them because it was their duty, ask God to bless THE DRILL INSTRUCTOR!

  • When a civilian thinks of a DRILL INSTRUCTOR they only choose to believe that their purpose is to scream and harass RECRUITS which is the furthest thing from the truth! Having grown up in the Navy/Marine Corps family and then having served myself in the U.S. Navy **Don't ask me why I decided to be a swab jockey** I explain to these people that the purpose of a DRILL INSTRUCTOR is to prepare a RECRUIT to the best of their ability with the tools they have to transform them into MARINES!

  • you guys i am 17 and hoping to joiun the USMC but i have a bad case of athletes foot on my toes. it does not bother me at all, its just there. WILL THAT KEEP ME FROM BEING ABLE TO JOIN?

    PLEASE REPLY

  • @devileyebrow1 Im in their DEP and im pretty sure it wont but get it takin care of before you try to enlist

  • Your videos are exceptional. I appreciate them. The Senior is awesome, just like mine was (still is).

  • 0:17 you can see the devil in his eyes

  • God bless you and your husband. I was there as a DI back in 1984-86 so my regards to al my fellow "Hats". I was single but i know how hard it was for my married colleagues that served with me back then. My sparetime which wasn't very often was always spent at Hiltons Head getting pretty drunk.

  • If i wanna inspire people, and tell them on whats important in life, give them ideas on what to do, and make them do it correctly, i know being a drill instructor will be a perfect spot for me in the marine corps... cus i wanna inspire people as much as i can when i die... so when i lay to rest i dont have to worry a single thing of whats going to happen cus ive alrdy pass my spiritual guidance thru these recruits.,..

  • OORAH

  • awesome video and tribute to him. OOHRAH

  • I was in India Co while on the island. Still love to wear blue. Please give my thanks to the DIs. We never forget them.

  • that guy would kick some ass. i want to be a di also, im only a sophmore in high school but im setting goals

  • Wow!!! I'm sure he enjoyed it, brought back great memories!!! Congratulations to both of you and thank you for tolerating! My 1st wife did not :-/

  • is youre husband the same one who was awarded the navy cross which i seen in another video? he looks just like him, true men of honor

anyway headin down to PI in september for a much needed vacation in hell oohrah

  • Im thinking of joining when im 18

  • Many thanks to you and espically to your husband. Your husband made a HUGH difference in lives of the young men that he trained. I know my Drill Instructors made a difference in mine. The change is forever. It is also wonderful to see a wifes stick by their husbands that are DIs. I know it can be really hard. I am fully aware of how damanding schedule that they have. So again many thanks to your husband. May God bless you and your family.

  • I respect DIs and this video shows just how great these men and women truly are. They are hard working and highly trained individuals who build the foundation of what makes this country the greatest in the world.

  • Congratulation for you, your husband building Marine corps.

  • I imagine being a drill instructors wife could NOT have been an easy thing, congratulations to both of you for making it through that

  • Thank a lot! that means a lot! :0)

  • @MarineDIwife how did you get a pick of me at 1:10 me holding the gun

  • Try being the daughter or son of a drill instructor XD

  • God Bless our SDI's and DI's They will save our Marine's livees.

  • He looks alot like my SDI w/ his Smokey Bear on. Very motivating/moving video. The absolute hardest working men are the planet. They are seriously qualified to do jobs people get paid 6 & 7 plus figures to do.

  • no way thats your husband he was the senior in the deck above me he was the man hes was fair but strick in a good combination

  • Your husband must be a hell of a man. God bless him for his services.

  • great job with video! the song goes perfect! how'd you get all the videos and pics? he was a Gunny DI, isnt that rare? Semper Fidelis from a0341 (mortarman) Marine ('88-'92).

  • Great job MARINEDIWIFE! My son recently graduated from PI and we thank all DI's and their families for training our recruits to be the best Marine that they can be. It will save their lives one day. Thank you.

  • @marlinerunner I am 13 and how do i convince my parents to let me join when I'm 18

  • @datguy197 Go to the recruiters office when your 17 and let the recruiter do the rest

  • i don't think they have to let you because then you'll be over 18 but then I'm not sure.

  • @datguy197 If you are 18 years old you are a legal adult and can join on your own. But you're 13 you will probably change your mind about going in the Corps. before you're 18 like most kids.

  • @datguy197 Hey, at 17 you can go talk to a recuiter but that is with your parents. At 18 you do not need parental acceptance.

  • great video. Is this paris island or san Diego? I am enlisting into the USMC in 2010. going to cali. Just hope i can handle the stress of the DI's yelling in my face all the time.

  • @fightingfalconfan this is paris island at san diego there isnt trees everywhere

  • I'm in a Maine JROTC, Our MI was a Sr DL and Paris Island. He was Marine for 25 years. His MOS was infantry and he did tours EVERYWHERE. Heis a retired Battalion SgtMaj. I am going to join the Corps. Be happy you don't have SgtMaj WREN as a DI.

  • Wife. These men kept me alive in Vietnam. An E-6 and up. My dead friend, Doug, got the CMH on IWO.

A Marine? An Army Officer, from O-1 to Stars, does understand.

  • I am not sure what you are saying,... is this to me?

  • Would your husband by any chance know a Gunny SGT by the name of Robert Lemke? He was the senior DI at paris island for awhile, he is my Naval science teacher at the Delaware Military Academy. Thank you for your time, maam.

  • 1:38!

  • I love this Video! Cudos to the wife. KILL!

  • cant wait til i can join the corps i will be going to parris island and hopefully the outcome will be promising

  • Trying to be clever? Ooops, didn't pull it off, bma051000..

"one nation over God"...You sound ridiculous.

Our military men & women "EARN" their living through hard work and sacrifice. Don't fret, bma, not everyone can be a Marine.

  • Well I'm an atheist and proudly single, so how exactly would I fit into your platoon? With both of my siblings (also atheists) serving in the military, I can proudly say: "One nation, OVER god." While I have the utmost respect for our military, as a self-employed software engineer, I'm glad that I don't have to rely on the government to provide me a living.

  • I only approved your stupid comment so everyone and their proverbial mother, can have fun with this. You should be ashamed of yourself. And do your parents know your up this late?? Don't you have school tomorrow??

  • Thank you deeply for your long patience. I am honored to have watched this video, again thank you!!!

  • @MarineDIwife i like how you handled that hahaha

  • @MarineDIwife

Does your husband know if people with Autism/Asperger's Syndrome can join the Military?

  • @MarineDIwife

Does your husband know if people with autism can join the military?

  • @MarineDIwife I feared my DI's and to this day still do haha, although I have ran into them after bootcamp and we have alot of good conversations, although I was a sgt when I last ran into them i still got shit haha

Respect to your husband, a Marine DI is one of the most reveared jobs in the military and honored. He is a good man. He made countless men and woman (went to San D - dont know if males train females in PI) find their true potential and gave them the ability to do good in this world

  • @bma051000 you wouldnt fit. just keep your mouth shut and do what your told or dont enlist. that simple. if you decide you want to stand up and be a poster boy for atheisim when you enlist and refuse to follow command like saluting a flag, or the pledge when your ordered to do so then you can be court marshalled for not following an order.

  • that is an other than honerable discharge and will follow you around forever. best to just sit at home and not enlist. why make a big deal about it? if you have no desire to enlist then it shouldnt matter. and if you do then your going to have to get used to being told things on a minute by minute basis that you do not want to do. but when you sign your contract... you have to do it. you have no choice. so its up to you.

  • @bma051000 your pretty much saying u dont have the balls to defend the country that gives u that right to choose its not having to depend on the government to live but its the fact that ppl decide to do it because they have the courage to stand up for ppl like u who dont give a damn

  • @bma051000 I certainly hope your self-employed job guarantees your right as a citizen in this country with the Bill of Rights....Ohhh right it does take the BLOOD of the young patriots bleeding for YOU and I to voice our first right of freedom of speech, So as a 21 year retiree your very welcome that I and all my brothers and sisters bled for your rights. Keep drinking that Kool-Aid tool and man up

  • @bma051000 Well "self employed software engineer,"you can thank a fighting serviceman for the freedoms and the very fact that you get to live free and earn a living everyday of your life. That freedom you have was paid for with blood. It didn't just happen as a result of shits and giggles. The freedom to do and think as you please came from a Marine or soldier and guess what? they may have even believed in God. Your freedom did not occur from you squeezing your buttcheeks and wishing for it.

  • @bma051000 do u know wtf would happen to u if you said one nation over God and a unit cadre member heard you?

  • @bma051000 Ever hear the term, there's no such thing as an atheist in a fox hole? You don't hear an athiest under mortar fire praying that science will save him from the fire, hoping that a wind current picks up to adjust the velocity of a mortar round so it doesn't hit him. The first thing you hear? "God keep me safe" or something along those lines. You want to claim a respect for the military and all of us who wear a uniform? Then shut your trap about things you don't understand.

  • @TheArmydude050290 Is that why there's an entire organization devoted to atheists serving in the military?

  • @TheLogan1156 thats because political correctness has given the military no choice. I you want to lick turtles butts for a religious reason, im sure there is some "law" given you that very right on the governments dime. BIG WUUUUUP.

  • @bma051000 - ...but you depend on "the government" (i.e. the military) to secure your freedom, don't you, dumbass?

  • @bma051000 Ha, you got fucking punked. Shouldn't have messed with a drill instructors wife. I guess she picked up a couple of things down in PI. God, Country, Corps... Oorah.

  • Massive respect to the USMC lads and lasses.

From a soon to be British RMC.

  • OOOhhh- Rahh

  • another amazing video

your 'fine again' video changed my life,

it was the deciding factor for me to join the corps a little over two years ago

thank you mam, to this day I have not regret my decision

  • Great video! My husband was a Senior Drill Instructor at Parris Island in the early 80's.

    Semper Fi

  • That must have been tough, although I think the DI's were more of a brotherhood then?

  • Cool, he's a gunnery sergeant....

  • he always puts his family first?

I thought the Marine corps come first, then family

  • Only a fool would put ANYTHING before his family.

  • In Boot they tell you that the Corps comes first.

    God

    Marines

    And then family.

  • You must not be hearing me.... God first, family, Corps. Get it straight son.

  • Odd, I was told by a few marines that the corps came first.

Even my brother who IS a marine said it came first.

  • And?? Im not sure I see your point. Is your brother the end-all-be-all? If so, ask him how long the liberals will stay in control of everything. Cause it's drving me nutz! -oh and what are next week's winning lotto numbers?

  • Steve...no offense...but you are either A) incredibly boot, B) a motarded poolee, or C) an idiot...

Without your family, you would not even be in the Corps. They are always there when things are rough. S/F

  • LOL thanks for the back up!!! No worries though, "steve" and his "brother" must be very young and his bro bro fresh out of boot. So I am not anything but amused at the successful indoctrination given to them by their drill instructors...like my husband. Job well done I guess! :0)

  • I accidentally removed your comment! I can't believe it... thank you so much for your words though and feel free to rewrite it! i think others should get the chance to read truth! LOL Again, my apologies.

  • I had to re-read your comment it is toooooooooooo funny!!! I LOVE IT!!! thanks again!

  • None taken.

Just saying, it's what I've heard from them. How am I supposed to know that? I haven't been in their shoes.

My brothers been in for 4 years now, stationed in Ramadi currently.

Isn't the Corps your family? A brotherhood?

I'm sorry to say but your lack of respect for others has shot down the drain, get off your high horse.

Yes you have to be there for your family, but being a DI you've gotta be fully committed to the Corps, but you know that. Right?

  • I was a drill instructor, I am a Gunnery Sergeant and a twelve year Marine thus far so I think I know what I am talking about and plcand09 is spot on. I would tell all my platoons it is "God, Family, Country, Corps" As a father, husband, and Marine my loyalty is first most to my God. My family I hold more dear than my Country and my Country more dear than my Corps. I support and defend the constitution not the corps. The Corps is a brotherhood in our title and we fight for the constitution.

  • I thank you for your response.

I meant no disrespect when I first commented either.

    Thanks.

Glad some hold their families dear to them. :)

  • And then you wonder why the divorce rate in the MArine Corps is astronomical?? Get real.

  • "God, Country, Corps" is the ditty

where did you go to boot camp? obviously not PI

  • @StevePlysWithFire GOD FAMILY COUNTRY CORPS trust me i know i had to say it 10 times a day for 3 months

  • @MarineDIwife Correct. Even a Senior.

  • ? huh?

  • what is his rank and name.

  • The CORPS is your family. Were you married to him before he even thought about joining the CORPS if so Im sorry he is dedicated to his only family that represents the CORPS. tell him SEMPER FIDELIS once a MARINE always a MARINE

  • Many R ignorant of your sacrifice being a DI's wife...let alone HIS!!! THANK YOU FOR BEING SEMPER FI - My prayers cover you both & words are not enough to say thank you.

  • Great Vid. Recognized the 2nd Bn Yellow. 2nd to None.I miss the smell of swamp and starched uniforms. OORAH!

  • This is an awesome video. You did a great job! We just started Drill Field! I think it brings a whole new light to being a Marine wife! Semper Fi!

  • aww that is cute! my husband is a di at pi and in the same bn yours was! this is a great idea and you did a great job :)

  • aww that is cute! my husband is a di at pi and in the same bn yours was! this is a great idea and you did a great job :)

  • Who sings that song and what's the tittle of the song?

  • Pain by 3 days grace

  • Who sings that song and what's the tittle of the song?

  • Sounds like a great man. Cant wait to join when I get older. Congrats

  • Damn i wanna be a D.I one day lol. i always say that

oh well maybe once i get out bootcamp [i shipout jan 4 2010)

    && get SSgt rank

  • Congrats to you and your Husband for finishing your PI tour!

  • Perfect Drill instructor theme!

  • That scream at 2:41 was hilarious! Semper fi!

  • I hope he is my future drill instuctor once I join!

  • Great video. Brings back a lot of good memories.

Graduated in 1989 3rd Battalion India Co. I will never forget my Drill Instructors

  • God, chills like crazy

  • I get chills watching it too... :) funny how the drill field does that to a person... even a wife like me.

  • I was in Plt 2082 and I will never forget any of the Driil Instructors in Golf Company they sacrificed so much to turn us into Marines.

  • haha. perfect song

  • This was an outstanding video!!!!

  • Congrats on dealing with your husband, I'm a former marine, quick question, was it hard to deal with PI for 3 years with him being away all the time and especially the heat?

  • It was all equally very hard.... but God has taught us much throw it all! And that was the best part.

  • Hello Mrs. DI wife - thank you both for serving! My brother's a Marine too. :)
