They interview many of the people who took some of the most iconic footage of the tsunami, and that guy who tried to help that couple who were washed away was one of those interviewed. He talks about trying to find that couple, but how only the man survived. I would highly recommend the documentary, it's really good and it's here on Youtube.

I'm not completely sure, but I believe the cameraman said later on in an interview that they found the elderly man in the video at :045, he was shaken up and had minor injuries, but his wife was swept away.. Sad indeed.
