  • It was an excellent movie, which sets anything else that opened in this period in pale comparison. The tension scenes created in the movie fully allowed Gary Oldman to fill in the intricate movie with his facial expressions to create the much needed emotions otherwise required through action scenes. Masterpiece indeed.

  • They forgot to list: Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman, David Thewlis etc etc

  • This movie sucks

  • @RobloPros You suck donkey penis.

  • @TheManWithASoreKnee I'm sorry are you mistaking yourself for me?

  • I'm so proud of Gary Oldman for being nominated best actor for the first time in his career. He is such a great actor and I don't understand how the Academy overlooked his talents. But other than that, although he didn't win, I am still so proud of him.

  • I haven't seen this film yet, but every year I go out of my way to watch all the films that have been nominated for an academy award. So far I have been very pleased with the nominations. The one film that really caught me was Hell and Back Again, it is a true piece of patriotism and I think speaks the truth about what all soldiers go through coming back from the war. Has anyone else seen the documentary? hellandbackagain. com/

  • Second trailer is better.

  • The trailer doesn't give it any justice at all. Makes it appear full of Clichés....when it's just not. Everyone should watch this.

  • what's the song in this trailer? it's very mysterious! :)

  • @MrFuntime16 generic music

  • Does anyone know the trailer music?

  • Fuck the USA, this didn't get 1 oscar.

  • Cool trailer, I can see how this might make a boring feature-length film though.

  • Pretentious crap.

  • Great mindfucking film.

  • Heard the movie was God-awfully boring, anyone agree??

  • @Joecbg100 heck no! You have no taste of oscar-nominated movies. OMG! This movie will win a oscar! 100 SURE!

  • @SuperPancakesRock BEAR IN MIND, I didn't see it, I heard a review, I'll rent it.

  • @Joecbg100 It was God-awfully boring to people who are too thick to understand what was going on or people who can't concentrate for more than five minutes. I thought it was really good :) ps. It helps if you have a basic understanding of the story line

  • @Agt926 it was boring because of the pace of it. It was far too quiet in scenes, which could make people feel tired and not care any more. I watched it start to finish, but not having red the book, it really didn't touch me like it has for others

  • So many brilliant actors in one film. Oh my.

  • Gary Oldman is a great actor, Siriusly.

  • I just watched a a video, where the advert at the start was longer and more entertaining... How did this happen?!

  • oh good, benny's on cast! :-)

  • pros: + stars that guy who played olivander from HP + excellent music + authentic 70s feel + occainsional giggle + sex scenes cons - tortoise paced - poor directing / editing - too often silent - Pointless to watch if you haven't read the book - nobody really cares who the mole is when they find out
  • what is the song on the trailer?

  • Superb film!

  • I'm 14 years old and I understood it at most times. I was expecting it to be confusing as hell to me because I've heard so many adults say it's confusing.

Brilliant movie though, my 2nd favourite of 2011

  • omg its sherlock.

  • @SuperGirlTaDa yeah i know that! HES AWESOME IN THIS MOVIE GOD WHATD HE DO TO HIS HAIR?!

  • Acting and settings in this film were marvellous, but I found the film itself was confusing and a bit boring. Much ado about little, I'd say.

  • boring as shit

  • Excellent piece of British cinema, very impressed with the entire cast's performances, ranging from the spectacular experience of John Hurt and Gary Oldman to the wonderful talents of relatively newcomers Tom Hary and Benedict Cumberbatch. If they choose to film more of le Carre's work I will look forward to seeing it.

  • @TheManWithASoreKnee Excellent piece of Swedish cinema, the director is Swedish! I'm joking, all the actors in this film are absolutely amazing and contribute immensely (but can't little Sweden get some credit too?).

  • @PerAsperaAdAstra92 Sure thing, apologies, but it is a British film.

  • @TheManWithASoreKnee That it is, and a very good one! And apology accepted ;)

  • The first time I saw this it was too soon after viewing the TV series for me to appreciate it on its own merit, but I watched it again and it was very well done. The plot is condensed effectively without losing too much and it summons up the grim atmosphere of the early 70s very effectively.

  • This appears to be excellent. If you read one novel in the spy genre I strongly suggest this book. It is arguably the best spy novel of its time, and one of the top five ever written. Le Carre treats his readers well, does not use his authorial position to spring anything on you: often you know as much or perhaps just a little more than the characters, and perhaps you begin to realize that maybe what you know isn't quite the truth ....

  • Tom Hardy...what were you doing in this "shite"????

  • @coldstaind91

lol i love the way you single out tom hardy when the whole cast is made up of the best british actors around.

  • Slow as shit, fucking dreadful...they dropped the ball big time. And drama is my genre. They just made a 2-hour incoherent, ineffectively-told and unimpressive spy story

  • @coldstaind91 they made an amazing film. you havnt any taste

  • @coldstaind91 Incoherent? That's why it was nominated for an oscar for Best Screenplay, right?

Let me guess, the trailer fooled you into seeing an action film? Maybe you should just stick with The Vow, that must be 'effectively-told' or 'impressive' for your in the Drama genre.

  • @SuperHeroMania #1: Fuck the Oscars. They've lost all credibility years ago when they gave a rap group like Three 6 Mafia an Oscar. And the strangest part of it all is that 90% of the Academy voting committee are fat old white Jewish men...so I'm not surprised if this shit wins whatever award. It's a bunch of fat old white guys giving awards to another bunch of fat old white guys.

#2: I knew this was a drama from just reading the synopsis, bitch. I didn't watch it for action.

  • @coldstaind91 I seriously recommend Transformers or something more simple minded for you, perhaps you'll be more satisfied instead of wasting your life while trolling around on the internet

  • @SuperHeroMania Fuckface...I'm not a Transformers fan. Those movies & Jews like Michael Bay are an abomination on the film industry. I don't like movies simple-minded, but I also dont like movies that automatically assume their audience will just *snap* get their broken incoherent story from the get-go. There's a difference between trollin & stating my opinion. You're more of a troll that I am. I did not say this was the worst movie ever. But as a 5/10, that's more than generous.

  • @coldstaind91 Oh, did I make you mad? Geez, simple minded people (and fucking racists like you) are sensitive.

  • @SuperHeroMania "Oh, did I make you mad?"

    "make you mad?"

    "mad?"

I think it is clear by now who troll is.

  • @anothguy only losers have 2 accounts on youtube, fuck off douche bag

  • @SuperHeroMania You, sir, are fucking retarded.

    Also one really sensitive hypocrite.

  • @anothguy You clearly have no idea what a hypocrite is, I think we both know who the real retard is.

  • @anothguy let me guess, your going to call me a hypocrite on another account.

Get a life douche bag, and try moving out of your mom's basement

  • @coldstaind91 oh look your american.

  • If you are looking for the movie go to my profile! the movie is cool!

  • I'd love to see this film but i cannot bear the sight of benedict cumberbatch.. he just ruins it for me

  • 0:25 What is that thing?

  • @RobReignhell it's a dildo

  • Comment removed

  • best trailer ever. I get goosebumps

  • does anyone know the title of the music that plays during this trailer?

  • @hongquiao Wolf suite part 1, danny elfman :)

  • i really couldn't watch this movie i turned it off after an hour it was very boring

  • @hosamo100 i would suggest fast and furious for you. dont have to use your brain much :)

  • At last a movie to watch, I haven't been to cinema for ages, same stuped stuff that one forgets 5 min after seeing it. Thanks for those who remember that some people want to use their brains looking to a movie!

  • Great cast but dreadful movie and rather boring. I like Gary Oldman but he wasn't right for the role, looked wooden and there wasn't much atmosphere compared to the BBC serials. For roughly the same price of the film you can buy both the BBC serials, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and Smiley's People with Alec Guinness. 11 hours of excellent viewing compared to this.

  • worst film ive ever seen, honestly it is fucking shit.

  • What was that thing at 0:24??

  • @ChevalierFILIP I thought it took an actual pea brain to enjoy this movie.

  • Colin Firth's voice seems so much like Michael Kane's..

  • interesting movie, different...u can watch it online at movieshead(dot)info

  • Benedict Cumberbatch!!!!!!!!!!!! im going to see this movie because of you!!! :D

  • @patatofatsa When you've seen it, can you tell me if it's worth it? If he's much in it? :)

  • @ElineeSama12 heyyy i want to tell you its a great movie!! one of my favourite..great cast! yes Benedict is a lot in the movie (happy for this)!! worth watching!! :)

  • Mole', mole', mole', mole'. (uses index finger to point out mole)

  • You who find this movie boring, go and watch your mindless James Bond and Mission Impossible flicks and grow a brain :)

  • @ChevalierFILIP totally agree...

  • @ChevalierFILIP Hm don't say that ... James Bond films have grown up generations ... They can't be compared with Mission Impossible flicks ...

  • @BillyLo1995 UR Right ... Bond movies are better and there is of course more to them than the MI flicks. I agree. Still, TTSS is much better than any of these :). Also, if UR into spy thrillers and don't mind watching a good old movie with Richard Burton then I suggest UC The Spy Who Came In From The Cold that was shot in 1965 and is also based on John Le Carre's (alias David Cornwell's:) novel.

  • @ChevalierFILIP "You don't like the same movie as me, so that means you are stupid!!"

  • @ChevalierFILIP A British accent doesn't make u smart...

  • @ChevalierFILIP

I fully understood the plot but just wasnt entertained at all.

Great performances by the cast but overall the movie was just plain boring.

Dont go throwing your ego around the web thinking your IQ is 10000 just because you enjoyed a film that is 'Cleverly Made'.

Inception is much more of a 'Cleverly Made' film and managed to keep you on the edge of your seat. Overall the movie was just hyped up too much and ended up being too slow and unmemorable

  • @FATHERKINKY I am sure you do understand the plot if you say so, but even if you didn't understand it completely, you can still enjoy the film that is cleverly and stylishly made ... I didn't completely understand Lynch's Lost Highway or his Mullholand Drive and I still loved it. Sorry, can't agree with you about the Inception however cleverly made it was, to be e better film. I liked it but I find TTSS to be superior on almost every level. U can't compare these two anyway. Enjoy yr popcorn :)

  • @ChevalierFILIP What the FUCK is wrong with you !?

Did you just say that you enjoyed TTSS better than INCEPTION? and then dare to say it is superior on almost every level.

  • @FATHERKINKY Oh yes, mate. Maybe I am just older than you and prefer films that are closer to the real world. Watch Satantango that is seven and a half hours long, black and white hungarian film. That is my superfavourite and it's hailed as a masterpiece by most people who prefer european cinema to hollywood mainstream. Inception is good and I even have an original DVD, but if my friends came over and wanted to screen them a really good flick, I'd definitely show them TTSS instead :)

  • @ChevalierFILIP well .. 'mate' I think your blind with arrogance that makes you blare out audacious claims and irrelevant points that just make you appear less and less like the internet smart alleck you're trying to be. Just grow the fuck up and stop trying to make 12 year old kids think you're a genius because you supposingly liked a smart film that overall as explained before was just plain boring and a huge dissapointment. And whats with the 'Real World' talk ... pathetic

  • @FATHERKINKY no point in continuing any chat with you as UR apparently a retard who cannot understand the difference between fiction and non-fiction. Go play your FPS video games you stupid punk.

  • @ChevalierFILIP

Right .... Because this film is real, Gary Oldman and all the cast are not actors. There are no cameras, screenplay, dialogue etc. LMFAO

And WOW ! calling me a punk because I just embarrassed you over the internet and left a deep wound in your ego. And then trying to futhermore insult me because I play videogames, seriously that was beyond desperate.

You keep yapping the realism talk when the sheer fact that TTSS is also fiction just contradicts your attempts.

  • @FATHERKINKY I said it was close to reality, not that it was real. U wouldn't be able to embarass me, not even in yr pathetic dreams. I can only be offended by an intelligent human being. Not yr case

  • @ChevalierFILIP

I think ive said enough really ... no need to continue

  • @FATHERKINKY Exactamente

  • @ChevalierFILIP calm down child. Some of us just want to turn off the brain after a long day of using it. You wouldn't know what I'm talking about...

    Movie look great though...

  • @kator05 I am not a child and I am pretty sure I am older than you so don't get cocky. I know very well what it means to watch a film without racking your brains over the plot. We all watch simpler movies sometimes. I only get annoyed when somebody says that this movie was absolutely stupid when they don't even have the clue what it was they were watching. Anyway, hope you enjoy the film.

  • @ChevalierFILIP: well said: let the idiots watch that ridiculouos James Bond bullshit. We know what is real quality.

  • @ChevalierFILIP I found it boring because there was nothing to care about. What was at stake if Smiley didn't find the mole? Was the stake that the agency might get rightfully shut down?

  • Comment removed

  • @DIEidealistsDIE I believe it is loosely based on a true story or more liked inspired by true story.David Cornwell (the real name of TTSS' writer John Le Carre) used to work for MI5 and MI6 in UK and he knew all about the Cambridge Five traitors which were all KGB moles in 50s and 60s. Those guys left a deep wound in British Intelligence System and obviously there is a lot at stake when someone works as a double agent or as a mole inside ,the Circus, and tells all the state secrets to the enemy.

  • @ChevalierFILIP Yes a lot at stake for people I didn't care about because because they were either boring or unlikable. A deep would in British intelligence? So? It's established that they are all either corrupt or incompetent, the government should've shut them down for being so terrible at their jobs.

  • @DIEidealistsDIE its during the cold war. a lot was at stake lol

  • @DIEidealistsDIE What was at stake? Western Europe's freedom, basically, but mostly the British Intelligence Service, and so the safety of Britain as a whole. Okay... Do you know anything about the Cold War after World War II ended, and before the Berlin Wall was torn down, the Iron Curtain that divided Europe? I'd suggest you read some history, this movie needs historical knowledge, you to be able to put it in its historical context, to be appreciated.

  • @ilovecakexD British Intelligence was established as incompetent and corrupt to the core so I don't see how losing them would've been a big deal since they were obviously not helping. And movies should be self-contained and able to tell me what I need to know and make me care. Its like saying I need to read the book to understand the movie. Also the movie was poorly paced and didn't communicate passage of time well.

  • @DIEidealistsDIE ALL of British Intelligence? And you'd disregard the safety of an entire country?

If this movie was Narnia, then yeah, it should be self-contained, but this type of movie needs a knowledgeable viewer if they are to be understood. You don't have to be a history-geek to appreciate fantastic acting, but if you disregard the acting based on an inability to understand the plot, setting and characters, then I think you owe it to give yourself a history lesson.

  • @DIEidealistsDIE Obviously you didn't listen or haven't even watched it. You do realize the mole was giving deep American information to Russia, which could have easily sparked a nuclear war if the wrong thing ever becomes known

  • @SuperHeroMania What really got to me was how they revealed that the british spy who got captured(embarrassingly easy) knew who the mole was the entire time, so the movie was pointless. And how the movie literally wasted your time like with the russian defector girl. They focused on her for twenty minutes, then she's dead. Nothing gained, nothing lost and they never speak of her again. Still think i haven't watched the movie?

  • @DIEidealistsDIE Well its your opinion, but I still seriously doubt you put any real focus into the film

  • @ChevalierFILIP

well, has the thought ever crossed ur mind that perhaps people just want ACTION without having to THINK through the whole film!?! >:L

btw, i love this film, james bond, AND mission impossible (i also like the bourne films)

  • @thewalkingpotofjam TTSS is a film, in my opinion, superior on every level when compared to Bond or MI flicks and that is probably because I don't find too much excitement in the flying cars, exploding buildings and last second savings kind of unrealistic stuff anymore (I used to prefer this type of films when I was much younger) ... now I find much more excitement in a built-up tension,a good mystery plot and interesting characters and I enjoy little nuances, details that make the film arts.

  • @ChevalierFILIP

well, the new bond isnt unrealistic anymore... but yes, MI still is! :/

  • Comment removed

  • @ChevalierFILIP Does this movie worth ? Is it a spy thriller ? Please tell me because i think that i want to see it!

  • @BillyLo1995 Yes, if you don't mind slower pace in the movie, it has a good built-up stylish atmosphere but should be seen in the cinema.

  • brilliant movie :D stream it at movieshead[dot]com

  • Christopher Hitchens retarded brother was right for once, this movie sucked.

  • screenplay and directing totally messed this up

  • all trailer long i was trying to remember where i knew the background music from.. at the end of the trailer i finally knew, it;s the intro of the song: figure - the werewolf, great song actually, i don't know the movie tho. (:

  • I cant believe this movie wasnt more popular in the UK! I thought it was great.

  • Just watched it - boring, slow, overly, long, confusing & disjointed. Mind you, I had a lovely snooze about one hour in! Glad I didn't pay to see it!

  • @IanGold Ownage! This film is rather brilliant!

  • i believe the trailer is better than the movie...!! still, the movie is good...

  • you can watch the full movie in my channel! It's awesome!

  • Ciaran Hinds is great in this film - he doesn't have much screen time, but he steals every scene he's in.

  • to be very frank, i didn't find it very interesting and rather hard to understand/keep up with. i am probably just very dumb but...does anyone else think this film was slightly on the overrated side? :\

ps. i love sirius and ollivander :) one of the reasons why i watched it in the first place. ~potterhead~

  • ''I know that Moscow has planted a mole, and I know it is one of five men.''

''Allenine: Tinker. Haydon: Tailor. Bland: Soldier. We leave out "Sailor", too much like "Tailor". Esterhase: Poorman.''

    ''And the fifth?''

    ''Smiley.''

Anyone else get goosebumps when that line was spoken?

  • this movie should be liked by EEEVEEERYONE !!!!!!

  • is it a great movie because i'm going to watch it right now!!!????

  • Aaaaah, absolutely brilliant! If you don't like it, you probably have a low IQ. Which would explain the oscar snub.

  • good movie

  • 0:44

    .17 cal rifle.....and he flinched

  • Save yourself... do not watch - what a misleading trailer.. looks good, waist of time :L

  • @Henryharveyharold However... Tom Hardy's hot...

  • GOOSBUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMPS.

  • What's the song at the end where the actors' names are shown?

  • @MsVenusAsABoy Its all the same piece. Its Wolfman Suite pt. 1, by Danny Elfman.

  • You know how I knew this was a good spy movie? I had no idea what the hell was going on!

  • @kakonis hahahaha, that was great :D

  • awful movie

  • 141 people are Russian moles.

  • SIRIUUUUUS

  • You have 500 characters to explain the movie. GO!

  • Don't thumb up @delarosaaj's comment, there's no videos on his channel.

  • @ROONTANG You are possibly the most gullible comment i have ever read

  • @MrHaltwhistle I am a comment? Well that's nice.

  • Watched it today - good movie. Not the average Hollywood crap. Beautiful photography, great lighting, intelligent story, good acting, nice soundtrack. Not for kiddies, this is a movie for adults.

  • Wow- Quite a cast!

    (Love Benedict :P)

  • LOVE this movie! much better than the hollywood movies these days...

I just started making reviews and would love it if you could check them out!

  • you can watch the movie in my channel! the movie is awesome

  • @delarosaaj I'd love to watch it IN your channel but I've forgotten your password. What was it again?

  • is this any good?

  • its like the all the english male actors got together for this movie... its like enligsh porn or something i cant even

  • @eejrrf maybe because it's about the british intelligence

  • @eejrrf take your weird orgy sick thoughts elsewhere!

  • Great movie, but the plots hard to understand, really does fuck with your mind! Also, if your after action, dont watch this as most of it is drama, great film never or less though!!

  • Movie was great...but that awesome music from the trailer wasn't in it!!! That made me a little sad. But it was still cool.

  • Looks sooo good. love the music

  • Gary looks a lot like Bill Nighy in this....or is it just me....?

  • Benedict Cumberbatch.

    What a frickin' gorgeous man.
