  • I use cages 8 feet tall and 3 feet diameter for my heirloom cherries and still they run out of space, even with pruning. Averaging 25 lbs per plant though, it only takes a few plants to suit my needs.

  • how many feet between your tomato plants? looks like 2 feet

  • @usc5299 about 3 ft but they were WAY too close

  • I'd like to know the total cost of one cage including the metal fence post. Looks awfully expensive to me.

  • @I3addogy yea the t-post were about 3 a peace and the wire was 100 but we figured we'd have them forever and we wont have anymore strings to tie...

  • I'm in ky we have used cages like these forever they work great. I use tobacco sticks as posts to hold my cages.

  • Those really look good, but way to much work. With T post at $5 each, you have a lot tied up in post. I plant all of my Tomatoes 18" apart. skip every third plant and drive a post. Three plants between each post. Tie string to post , on each side of row. A 6.5ft T post can be tied upward bout 8 times. works great and makes rows look neater. Hope this helps .Loshepa

  • i going to try this tomato cage =-)
