Wypiękniały nam polskie miasta...Katowice kiedyś szare,brudne,zadymione...Pochodzę z Łodzi,i oba nasze miasta kojarzone były z lasem dymiących kominów.
I ' m coming too !!!! you live in such beautiful place , i love all , the buildings , the churches , the streets , the flowers , the music and above all , OUR FRIEND JERZY !!
w pierwszej chwili pomyslalem ,że ilustrowanie tej przepieknej piosenki zdjeciami miasta,które podobno przepiękne nie jest to pomysł karkołomny, ale widzę,że nie jest żle
ps macie w Katowicach cudowna architekturę z lat trzydziestyc-cudo!
Kalina was unique - with her style, behaviour and that "whispering timbre". Pure and sensual, sometimes sexy. Scorned often by comunist authorities, did not match their obligatory air (60's, 70's).
Advice me, P. please. Initially I put a title to this video: "Avril au... Katowice", (some reference to Eartha Kitt's "Avril au Portugal"). I was not sure if it was correct with the name of my 'hometown' and changed it for "á...". which form in this instance is more correct...?
I agree she was! As for the spelling advice you asked for: the correct spelling is "à Katowice" (with 'accent grave", not the 'aigu' á, inexistant in French). By the way, I don't understand why your response got lost in the spam folder due to some new YT glitch...
Born April 17, 1912 in Budapest, Marta Eggerth will celebrate her 96th birthday by appearing in a cabaret show at the Café Sabarsky, Thursday, April 17, with David Maiullo, pianist. The cafe is at 86th Street and Fifth Avenue in New York City. For information and tickets phone 212-628-6200, extension 485.
On Saturday, April 26, Eggerth will receive the Medal of Recognition from the Kosciuszko Foundation (contact Tom Pniewski at 212-734-2130, ext 214).
Oh yes, she made French recordings as well.. I have "Ah, que la vie est belle/Schön wie der junge Frühling" and "Mon coeur à toi qui se donne/Musikanten sind da" from the 1935 movie "Die blonde Carmen". Very nice versions!
Actually, it was quite a job to omit all those 'minor places'...:)
Near to the end you may see two little monuments (there are many more of them in that garden-square close to where I live); the second one is devoted to our great film actor, Zbigniew Cybulski who was killed in a railway accident.

At time 0:50 you may see the Hotel Monopol where
Marta Eggerth and Jan Kiepura had their first honeymoon night; their marriage celebrations took place also in my town (1936).

I didn't know that... Looks very nice...Jan Kiepura and Marta Eggerth were also very popular over here... I have several 78RPM's of both in French...

Well, I'll eventually digitalise them, but these things take time and I need a new program to do it... But she will come to YT eventually :-)

Most pleasant tour. was the synagogue of katowice
ever rebuilt?
albertdiner 3 years ago
Who could have done it ?....
80% "disappeared" and that little number left was under pressure of "new times".
How great that building once was you can have a look by introducing via google: Synagoga Wielka w Katowicach -
