@pravicpu The motion of the "cannon car" was duplicated from live motion video. The speed and distance shown are exactly as per our trials. Please keep in mind the "cannon car" is made from folded card stock.
Energy sources without the need for fuel or energy input exist ,But some very powerfull ppl don't want you and me to be free from energy costs,Get a motor that works with the power of magnets only at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Big change is comming soon!
@electriczap1 I think those magnetballs will burn because of the air friction.
Instead of buying 5000 Magnets, go and buy 5000 Capacitors with... lets say 400Volts @ 470µF and build a freaking monster coilgun. Then, move out to space and fire it ( because theres no air friction).
If you individually price out the same components used (1/2 x 1/2 Rare Earth Magnets, Chrome Steel Ball Bearings, Nylon Hardware, etc, you will be close to or above the retail price. (The bearings alone for the prototype cost $16.00) To duplicate the item you would also need the machinery and specialized cutting bits... But sure, you can make your own.
A gaussgun has coils or solenoids, and does not use ferromagnetic ball bearings to transfer kinetic energy from one ball to the next. This is just a toy, you can call it whatever you want, but it's not a gaussgun aka coilgun.
No, a gauss gun relies on a magnetic field. Magnetic fields are different from electric fields. Not that this device uses an electric field either though. Gauss guns use solenoids to propel a ferrous projectile. This toy uses a different mechanism to fire a single ferrous ball bearing.
Negitive that is a coilgun. Rail guns do not use coils, Rail guns use two plates with a ark gap down the center createing plasma and a magnetic field to accellerate anything with the chamber (see wikipedia "railgun" for details")
And what you shown in the video is a gauss gun. not related to coil or railguns in anyway
A rail gun is two parralel rails with the projectile between them which when high voltage high amperage current flows through them the rails and projectile have three seperate electromagnetic fields around them the interaction of which propel the projectile away from the points on the rails where the current is applied at a very igh velocity (navy's record is 16km/s)
i guess you could call it a rail gun, though i guess not a conventional one considering there is no current running through it to induce a magnetic field

Don't title your video "in action" if all we get to see is an animation

@Tbone155817 Fair enough. I trust you'll you find the new title more accurate.

lol, i just figured out all of the worlds energy problems
LuckePucke95 1 year ago 14
@LuckePucke95 it takes more energy to reset the device after each shot then it produces from the chain of accelration.

It's a shame the greedy oil companies won't allow it. At least until they find a way to exploit this too for their own selfish needs.

What is a good level of Gauss for this? Will 5000 Gauss magnets work? Or is it overkill?

Guys, are you kidding?
It is neither railgun (show me where is a high voltage rail accelerator) nor gauss gun (show me where is a solenoid).

A gauss-gun relies on an electric field (hence the name).
This is essentially a gauss gun despite it's lack of similarity to what you know of as a gauss-gun.
It is the principle of function not the components that determine a nomination.

not particularly science minded are you.

No, I am. I'm not a physicist, I'm a molecular biologist, but I apparently know a lot more about physics than you do.

OK, the "rail gun" tag is a bit of a stretch, as a conventional rail gun uses a coil.
As others have noted below, it is a "gauss rifle" or "gauss gun" as it uses a magnetic field (or series of them) to launch a projectile.

...Which is why I removed the "rail gun" tag from the video. (There was never any reference to a coil gun in the video or tags)
