@Nutz320 and another fact, it's NOT cheaper than a laptop. Computer hardwares get cheaper and cheaper by the year, in fact even by months if you know what Moore's law is. People can easily upgrade parts and buy better hardwares at cheaper prices. I'd love to see how you can put a HD 6970 graphics card on an iPad and try running Crysis 2 on max settings. The fact that ur on Youtube right now means ur not using an iPad either since it can't do flash. That, and u can't type as fast on an iPad.

@Nutz320 now ur contradicting urself and making less sense. U've just said a few comments back that people don't use the iPad to use softwares like photoshop etc (it can't anyway because it's limited by its hardware), and that people use it to play and the iPad does just that. Well, why is it now ur talking about the iPad being able to do better at key tasks? It's only seen to be a form of entertainment device, nothing more. It CAN'T do better than a computer or laptop, it's a fact.
@Nutz320 WOW, if Steve Job's own product is stated to be simply a tablet by him and himself only, and you think so otherwise, then that's beyond me. It's like telling someone who created and made something themselves that the product isn't what they claim it to be. And ur contradicting urself. U said a few comments back that the people don't use the iPad to use softwares like photoshop etc (it can't anyway because it's limited by the hardware anyway). Then how do you expect it to do key tasks?
Really awesome the only flaws were some of the textures on the ibook, because the keys are translucent and the outer color is more rubbery so it wouldn't be shinny but everything else was awesome. also you guys couldn't help cause you only had pics
@MrShadowz1337 Giant iPod touch is about right. But that "giant" part is so crucial to what the iPad can do that the iPod can't. That's what Apple haters don't get. Also, the iPad was born before the iPhone, but Steve asked the man who thought of it to make it smaller. They thought of the iPad first.
@Nutz320 as much as I love Apple products (I myself own an iPod Touch 3rd Gen, jailbroken running iOS 4.2.1 currently), I still don't see how your point/logic explains anything. All the iPad does is just run the apps on a larger screen and higher resolution........so what part of "crucial" is surprising about that? It doesn't take a genius to make a statement just like yours, saying that "hey we can do everything bigger and larger now, coz we have *BOOOOP* made the screen larger"......no shit.
@MrShadowz1337 Look at the differences between the apps. Nothing was just made "larger". They were modified to take full advantage of the larger screen. Before I give an example, think of it this way. You can read this text, right? But it's pretty small. Now imagine, in the same amount of space, an image was inserted. You wouldn't be able to see it, or make out anything in the image. It would be too small. Some media doesn't work on a small scale. Apps like Flipboard aren't possible on iPhone.
@Nutz320 isn't that just my point? The apps simply were modified to fit the larger screen, but it's essentially the same thing. You could still use apps like flipboard to read your magazines on your ipod touch or iphone. Hell, I don't even care about the magazines. I use Byline that takes all the RSS feeds from my Google Reader of all the stuff i'm actually interested in, and caches it so i can read it offline without any connection. And FYI, most apps still don't support the larger screen.
@MrShadowz1337 I don't know what sort of superpower eyesight you've got, but I sure as hell cannot read Flipboard on my iPhone.You cannot compare Flipboard(watch?v=v2vpvEDS00o) with Byline(h t t p : / / static . guim . co . uk / sys-images / Guardian / Pix / pictures / 2010 / 3 / 30 / 1269954715311 / byline30mar2010 . jpg)
@Nutz320 who said you need a super good eyesight to read it?? People could use email and txt on the iPhone just fine. It's not "crucial" to get an iPad just so I can read magazines using Flipboard. What I said was that I simply get all the same needs by just using Byline as it takes all the RSS feeds (which are news basically) and lets me read it on my iPod Touch whenever i'm on the go. It downloads all the images and news information and caches it so I don't need a connection to read it.
@MrShadowz1337 Flipboard scaled down would produce tiny text. It's not crucial to get an iPad to get the job done, but it makes the experience with some apps that much better. Also, when you don't want to bring your laptop on travels, you just grab the iPad and don't think twice. My dad travels a lot and he takes the iPad with him all the time, the MBP sometimes. Games and movies are particularly better on the iPad than iPhone, such as Infinity Blade. Playable on iPhone, but MUCH better on iPad.
@Nutz320 basically what i'm saying is, it's NOT crucial to get an iPad just to use apps like Flipboard. I have yet to see any app that is exclusive to the iPad only, and yet is "crucial" enough for me to want to get one. It's a good device, don't get me wrong. But I just can't justify spending that money on it when I can buy a laptop with better performance, at a lower price. I just think *tablets* in general is kinda pointless.
"I can buy a laptop with better performance, at a lower price."
"compare the Pentium/Athlon(change to laptop) to a Corvette, while the Mac(change to iPad) is a Lexus. The Corvette may have faster 0 to 60 acceleration or higher top end speed, but what does this really mean to the everyday driver? Furthermore, the trade-offs for owning the Corvette are many: higher gas mileage, much harsher ride, less trunk space, more frequent repairs, etc., etc. So it is in the computer world."
@Nutz320 that's not a very good analogy.........especially not the "more frequent repairs" part. And what's more, who the hell still talks about Pentium or Athlon? We have Sandy Bridge now, i'd at least expect you to say dual core, get on with the technology :) Anyway, ur points don't make sense. Much harsher ride? U do know that computers have a much wider range of softwares, much more usability (with mouse & physical keyboard) and can be upgraded easily anytime?
@Nutz320 As for less trunk space, I don't see how the standard laptop now days that comes with 500GB is any less than the iPad's largest 64GB. More frequent repairs? For what? It doesn't make sense even when you say the Corvette might need more frequent repairs. There's no such correlation or relationship that proves if you buy an expensive car, then you need more frequent repairs than buying a shitty Toyota. Repairing computers aren't hard anyway, most people know how to do it.
@Nutz320 the only thing I can agree with is higher gas mileage. Laptops have much more computing power so uses up more battery life, so compared to the iPad it's not as great. But anyway, i'd rather use a laptop to use stuff like Photoshop or iMovie or Blender etc, which you can't on the iPad. As for games, i'd take any good PC game over the App Store games, such as Portal 2.
@MrShadowz1337 "Photoshop or iMovie or Blender etc" which is not on most people's minds. They aren't interested in 3D, movies or image editing. They just want to get their jobs done and play in their spare time. The iPad allows that for them.
"As for games, i'd take any good PC game over the App Store games, such as Portal 2." I disagree here. You can't beat MPG controls for games. Turning the iPad like a steering wheel is easy (and felt more real than the iPhone) and provides better precision.
@Nutz320 my point was, for the same price i'd rather get a good laptop that I can use not only for work purposes (like using Photoshop and the others i've mentioned), but also play games and relax when I need to. It's only when the iPad2 that got released that came built in with A5 with dual core. Still not good enough compare to laptops now days. U think playing driving games on iPad is fun? I'd rather play Shift 2 or console games with driving wheels, or buy the Logitech driving set for PC.
@MrShadowz1337 "U think playing driving games on iPad is fun? I'd rather play Shift 2 or console games with driving wheels, or buy the Logitech driving set for PC." There's no clear-cut answer here to what's best, it's a matter of opinion of course. But I'd wager that more people prefer the iPad way.
"like using Photoshop and the others i've mentioned". Most people never hear of the word blender, unless it's to do with the kitchen.
@Nutz320 and btw, while I admit most of the App Store games are fun, but they don't last very long, not for me and not for the average gamer at least. That's why you don't see any App Store games making into game of the year. You just can't compare top AAA+ quality games to any App Store game. Name some of the good games out for iPad/iPhone this year, can you? I can name a few good ones for PC or console. E.g. Dead Space 2, Dragon Age 2, Portal 2, Bulletstorm etc etc. The difference is too much.
@MrShadowz1337 "Name some of the good games out for iPad/iPhone this year, can you?"
Infinity Blade, Gangstar: Miami Vindication, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus. I don't know about this year, but these games aren't all that old. I haven't been busy in the iOS scene lately, but there are plenty of good games.
@Nutz320 Need for Speed Hot Pursuit isn't exclusive to the iPad, it's for consoles & PC as well and in fact Need for Speed Shift 2 just came out recently. Now try that on a proper console or driving simulator machine (if u can afford one). I haven't heard of the rest but again and the only good one I agree with is Infinity Blade. But again like I said, none of these games can compete with any console game. You either have people playing Call of Duty or WOW or whatever now days.
@MrShadowz1337 "isn't exclusive to the iPad" Still a good iPad game that came out and that's what you asked for.
"(if u can afford one)" Now we're being mean. I thought we were having a good conversation.
"haven't heard of the rest" Then check them out before saying "none of these games can compete with any console game." I'd say Gangstar has bad graphics if we're comparing to consoles, but Need for Speed is quite good and Modern Combat graphics are awesome and I don't even have Retina.
@MrShadowz1337 "isn't exclusive to the iPad" Still a good iPad game that came out and that's what you asked for.

@MrShadowz1337 Controllers aren't REALLY suited to gameplay. Of course, the makers try their best to make it suited, but since every game is different, it doesn't work, unless you buy separate controller types for separate game categories. Like steering wheel controller for car games and so on.
@Nutz320 Ok now ur just talking nonsense. Controllers aren't suited to gameplay? What kind of rubbish talk is this? You obviously haven't seen a good PC setup with a driving seat, pedals and a good driving wheel. It's like a proper driving simulator, search on Youtube. In fact, it's just like the ones in the arcade, it's way more realistic and fun to use a driving wheel compared to using ur iPad and moving it sideways, it's rather stupid in fact. And there's a reason why gaming is for CONSOLES.
@MrShadowz1337 Like I said, "unless you buy separate controller types for separate game categories."
"there's a reason why gaming is for CONSOLES." Surveys show that handheld consoles are losing sales to the iPod touch and iPhone, but for desktop consoles, I'd say they have a long time yet. Of course none of this is to do with the iPad now. I'm off track. Try Infinity Blade on iPad, I guarantee you'll be hooked.
@Nutz320 it's true, handheld console market shares are now losing a bit to the iPad. And I HAVE played Infinity Blades, i know all the top iOS games and follow the updates a lot since i'm into the jailbreaking scene and have like 50GB worth of apps & games. Sure IB is a good game, in fact it's currently the only best looking game for the iOS (that and Epic Citadel, which is just a tech demo) but those aren't anywhere near as good as proper console or PC games.
@MrShadowz1337 "Sure IB is a good game, in fact it's currently the only best looking game for the iOS (that and Epic Citadel, which is just a tech demo)" Search for Unreal Engine on Cult of Mac and look for this headline: "Dream:scape Is The Next Unreal Engine Game To Keep Your Eye On"
@Nutz320 does it matter? Maybe you should search for Unreal Engine 3 tech demo on Youtube. The iOS devices will never catch up to the hardware power and generations of computers. If I also remember correct, the makers of Epic Citadel & Infinity Blade is gonna release a new game based on the same technology but updated and enhanced. I think it's called Rage if i'm not mistaken....
@MrShadowz1337 Damn, your comments are coming thick and fast, but I gotta go to school soon(Don't worry, I'm 16, not an 11 year old). I'll be sure to check that out, thanks for the conversation.
@Nutz320 ur 16? Hmm at least u don't sound immature like most of the 16 year olds I know. Ya i'm just a bit bored so kinda spamming tons of comments lol. It was a good discussion though, i appreciate that.
@MrShadowz1337 In real life, I'm actually the most immature of all the ones I know. You'd be surprised. It's like when I go online, I have an alterego. I guess I just don't want to ruin my reputation online, it's the whole world here. I'm pretty sure I'm in good standing in that respect. Good luck with your spamming I guess, lol.
@Nutz320 and I wouldn't count out handheld consoles just yet. The PSP & DS lost their shares coz they've been out for YEARS and are now dated. The NGP (PSP2) is stated to come out hopefully end of this year, and the 3DS has been doing very well so far. As a fact, the DS is still the most popular and most sold handheld gaming device. And to be honest, i'd rather play my PSP or DS games than on iPad. Try looking up Dissidia for the PSP or God of War Ghost of Sparta. Way better than iOS games.
@Nutz320 and come on be realistic. No matter how much u argue or how strong ur opinion is, the major market of gaming belongs to both PC and consoles, NOT to a tablet device like the iPad. I still can't believe how u said controllers aren't suited to gameplay. As if touchscreens on the iPad is really all you need. They might as well put iPads in every arcade and Timeouts, and replace those Street Fighter arcade machines etc with an iPad.
@MrShadowz1337 The iPad is the computer for the rest of us, what Apple has been trying to achieve since the beginning. Us geeks may or may not like it, but we need something that gives us more power. I will probably never get the iPad. It's useless for me too, but there are a whole load of people who like it, because to them, it's a lightweight laptop with loads of iPhone games. I get your point that it's not crucial to anything, but the bigger screen just changes things a lot.
@Nutz320 *The iPad is the computer for the rest of us*, woah slow down there......even Steven Job said it's NOT suppose to compete with the laptop market. It's a tablet, so it's in a different category, more like in the middle between a phone and a laptop. I get what you're saying, but still the price isn't worth it when you could just get a laptop. Well, actually now that the price has dropped (due to the fact that iPad 2 is out now), it might be worth buying.
@Nutz320 in fact, you'd have to jailbreak to install one of those tweaks to utilize the larger screen. Some apps are still pixelated and yet to be updated.
I don't know if anyone caught this but on the 1st. Gen. iPhone it says it has a 3G Connection when in reality it doesn't! Oh well, still an amazing video.
Very nice but as we all know, it could go on and on. Hoping an "EP" extended trailer is forthcoming with the 20th Anniv. Mac, "iLamp" and UFO Airport base station. Thanks for this!
If the case on the 1984 Macintosh were actually that white, I wonder how it would've been received by a market expecting beige. It is beautiful though!
I still don't see the point in an iPad other than reading books. Even then, I'd rather read a book on a laptop so I can lay down and not have to hold the screen up. Two thumbs up on the iPhone though...
Interesting to see no iPod or iMac in there, or even a PowerMac (the G5 was a revolution at the time for a "consumer" level workstation with it's 64bit multi-cpu architecture and outstanding case design).
All which have crap for programs, freeze up, or you can only use with other software they made and you end up paying $80 for a nicer looking version of notepad. MAKE THE ICON STOP BOUNCING!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I get it but it's still a bad judgment. And having the type glitching while one is reading is distracting. It's not necessary. Just because one knows how to do something don't mean you should cram it in. But thanks for the effort. I will not be using your company nor recommending it.
Hate to be "THAT GEEK" but the original Macintosh was a yellowish beige color -- it wasn't a grey color that yellowed over time. (I don't have a pantone reference, sorry, but it's somewhere between web color cccc66 and cccc99.)
Thus blandly making the point that all eCrap, regardless of manufacturer, has a projected lifespan which exceeds that of its packaging by approximately a minute.
Thanks for your comments. We get a lot of comments and questions on why iMacs or iPods were not shown in the animation. The movie was done on the occasion of release of iPad. We wanted to show the products in Apple history that in our opinion were best related to the nature of the iPad. There were also time limitations - we just couldn' t get every product in.
Burdell2, We'll send you the link to download of 720p animation. Thanks!
great 3d animation. wow

Nutz320 9 months ago
@Nutz320 Need for Speed Hot Pursuit isn't exclusive to the iPad, it's for consoles & PC as well and in fact Need for Speed Shift 2 just came out recently. Now try that on a proper console or driving simulator machine (if u can afford one). I haven't heard of the rest but again and the only good one I agree with is Infinity Blade. But again like I said, none of these games can compete with any console game. You either have people playing Call of Duty or WOW or whatever now days.
MrShadowz1337 9 months ago
@MrShadowz1337 "isn't exclusive to the iPad" Still a good iPad game that came out and that's what you asked for.
"(if u can afford one)" Now we're being mean. I thought we were having a good conversation.
"haven't heard of the rest" Then check them out before saying "none of these games can compete with any console game." I'd say Gangstar has bad graphics if we're comparing to consoles, but Need for Speed is quite good and Modern Combat graphics are awesome and I don't even have Retina.

@MrShadowz1337 Controllers aren't REALLY suited to gameplay. Of course, the makers try their best to make it suited, but since every game is different, it doesn't work, unless you buy separate controller types for separate game categories. Like steering wheel controller for car games and so on.
Nutz320 9 months ago
@Nutz320 Ok now ur just talking nonsense. Controllers aren't suited to gameplay? What kind of rubbish talk is this? You obviously haven't seen a good PC setup with a driving seat, pedals and a good driving wheel. It's like a proper driving simulator, search on Youtube. In fact, it's just like the ones in the arcade, it's way more realistic and fun to use a driving wheel compared to using ur iPad and moving it sideways, it's rather stupid in fact. And there's a reason why gaming is for CONSOLES.
MrShadowz1337 9 months ago
@MrShadowz1337 Like I said, "unless you buy separate controller types for separate game categories."
"there's a reason why gaming is for CONSOLES." Surveys show that handheld consoles are losing sales to the iPod touch and iPhone, but for desktop consoles, I'd say they have a long time yet. Of course none of this is to do with the iPad now. I'm off track. Try Infinity Blade on iPad, I guarantee you'll be hooked.
Nutz320 9 months ago
@Nutz320 it's true, handheld console market shares are now losing a bit to the iPad. And I HAVE played Infinity Blades, i know all the top iOS games and follow the updates a lot since i'm into the jailbreaking scene and have like 50GB worth of apps & games. Sure IB is a good game, in fact it's currently the only best looking game for the iOS (that and Epic Citadel, which is just a tech demo) but those aren't anywhere near as good as proper console or PC games.
MrShadowz1337 9 months ago
@MrShadowz1337 "Sure IB is a good game, in fact it's currently the only best looking game for the iOS (that and Epic Citadel, which is just a tech demo)" Search for Unreal Engine on Cult of Mac and look for this headline: "Dream:scape Is The Next Unreal Engine Game To Keep Your Eye On"
Nutz320 9 months ago

Nutz320 9 months ago
@Nutz320 ur 16? Hmm at least u don't sound immature like most of the 16 year olds I know. Ya i'm just a bit bored so kinda spamming tons of comments lol. It was a good discussion though, i appreciate that.
MrShadowz1337 9 months ago
@MrShadowz1337 In real life, I'm actually the most immature of all the ones I know. You'd be surprised. It's like when I go online, I have an alterego. I guess I just don't want to ruin my reputation online, it's the whole world here. I'm pretty sure I'm in good standing in that respect. Good luck with your spamming I guess, lol.
Nutz320 9 months ago
@Nutz320 and I wouldn't count out handheld consoles just yet. The PSP & DS lost their shares coz they've been out for YEARS and are now dated. The NGP (PSP2) is stated to come out hopefully end of this year, and the 3DS has been doing very well so far. As a fact, the DS is still the most popular and most sold handheld gaming device. And to be honest, i'd rather play my PSP or DS games than on iPad. Try looking up Dissidia for the PSP or God of War Ghost of Sparta. Way better than iOS games.
MrShadowz1337 9 months ago
@Nutz320 and come on be realistic. No matter how much u argue or how strong ur opinion is, the major market of gaming belongs to both PC and consoles, NOT to a tablet device like the iPad. I still can't believe how u said controllers aren't suited to gameplay. As if touchscreens on the iPad is really all you need. They might as well put iPads in every arcade and Timeouts, and replace those Street Fighter arcade machines etc with an iPad.
MrShadowz1337 9 months ago
@MrShadowz1337 "major market of gaming belongs to both PC and consoles" Of course, I'm not contesting that.
Nutz320 9 months ago
@MrShadowz1337 The iPad is the computer for the rest of us, what Apple has been trying to achieve since the beginning. Us geeks may or may not like it, but we need something that gives us more power. I will probably never get the iPad. It's useless for me too, but there are a whole load of people who like it, because to them, it's a lightweight laptop with loads of iPhone games. I get your point that it's not crucial to anything, but the bigger screen just changes things a lot.
Nutz320 9 months ago
@Nutz320 *The iPad is the computer for the rest of us*, woah slow down there......even Steven Job said it's NOT suppose to compete with the laptop market. It's a tablet, so it's in a different category, more like in the middle between a phone and a laptop. I get what you're saying, but still the price isn't worth it when you could just get a laptop. Well, actually now that the price has dropped (due to the fact that iPad 2 is out now), it might be worth buying.
MrShadowz1337 9 months ago
@Nutz320 in fact, you'd have to jailbreak to install one of those tweaks to utilize the larger screen. Some apps are still pixelated and yet to be updated.
MrShadowz1337 9 months ago
@MrShadowz1337 Yeah, I know about that. It's pretty annoying that Apple doesn't upscale Retina apps on the iPad by default.

(I don't have a pantone reference, sorry, but it's somewhere between web color cccc66 and cccc99.)
haineux 1 year ago 3
Also, the name of the original Macintosh was simply "Macintosh" -- no numbers, no "the". And now I will go outside and play.
Seriously, though, very nice animation.

Thanks!
