One other thing in order to make this a better test you would need to reboot your pc each time you launched the browser because there's the small matters of memory cache, possible swap file usage which may interfere and you'd best kill all processes before you do it.

I reccomemd "CCleaner" which can be downloaded from google, also "Game Booster" which can be download from google, CCleaner cleans your pc and empties recycle bin and deleted cookies etc, and game booster closes all un nessosary pogroms, (you can open them back up at any time) after doing both these your pc should run pretty fast

i use CCleaner for cleanign old internet and system files and all that shit, when i go a full day (maybe 4 hours total internet time) and run the cleaner it cleans maybe 2-3 MB of temp internet and cache files. when i was using chrome it was like 50MBs. it stores a lot of shit on your comp

Which speed is this test actually measuring? Warm start of browser or rendering of web page? Besides, opening different web pages for different browsers doesn't provide a fair testing ground as each page renders at different speed.

I noticed you left out the Opera Browser as we all know its the fastest, but your test would be more convincing if you actually included it in your test ;-)

well This i have to say not one of the best test i've ever seen. Do to the fact that each and every browser you opened opened on a different web page. If notice IE7 had many pictures and ads on the MSN home page. Sea monkey had no ads or pictures AT ALL! Firefox had a few ads a pictures on the Yahoo page. and safari had A lot of pictures and links. and Last, Google chrome with nothing but some images and it opened in a Minimized window.

Opera is by far the fastest out of all, especially with the Turbo feature(that is, it used). Heres another tip to speed up opera if anyone never new about this: go to tools, preferences, hit the advance tab, and on the right, select history. Now where it says check images at the very bottom. You want to put that to every 24 hours. It makes browsing a little faster.

I've tested safari 4 beta, google chrome and IE8. google chrome proved to be the better as far as speed opening the same high graphic web page. Your test is completely idiotic, all browsers open at the same speed, but loading pages is completely another story.
