When I first heard this LP. Was listening to it asap as it came out. Careless Whisper was a favorite but this song >> I immediately LOVED. And started playing it over/over. I then knew George would become VERY popular and he did. The voice is unique.. The tune is COOL!!!
from what i remember ALL the girls went nuts over these guys- but they made real good music so didn't mind- boy band beens a bad word w/ new kids who weren't embarrassing but they did breed "back street boys" real tuff guys, i got to say, straight gees. After that whole boy band thing was pretty much an on going joke. But respect to Wham for doing it right and having strong talent !! (for the nerds i also know new kids were a spin off of new edition ) but their target crowds were different
He has the one of the sexist voices I have ever heard and I didn't grow it in time. Man I wasn't even born yet, but the George Michael and Wham are awesome.
i think it was '85 when i saw these guys at hollywood park. this gal i knew and two of her friends were going, they invited and cuz i wasnt doing anything else i said sure. to this day it stands as one of these best concerts ive ever been to. aint nothing better than a place with 15,000 girls and 15 guys.
@deniseandread Are you saying something like "even though he is gay, he can still sing?" Isn't that rather like saying "even though this person is black, he's attractive"? or "he may be Church of England, but he prays well in spite of that"?
loved this song when it came out! the beat was fresh. but now that i'm older and listen to lyrics, the part where he says "my god...i DON'Tt even think that i love you!!" just blows me away. such honesty.
@firpo08-His partner? Do you mean Andrew Ridgley(the other guy in Wham)? If so then no. He is straight and has been in a long term relationship(I don't know if they've married already) with one of the women from the 80's group Banarama for many years. George is gay, Andrew is not.
Ridgely served absolutely no purpose in this group, except for spinning around in circles. Notice how his guitar isn't even plugged into anything? George Michael was always a solo act.
I love this because it is such an angry song, full of rage, but wrapped in this lucscious candy-coated presentation of percussion and mullets and pretty outfits. Can you imagine if Led Zeppelin did this song or Bruce Springsteen or Green Day? It's an anthem but it was undercut by cuteness.
"And now you tell me that you're having a baby/ I'll tell you that im happy if you want me to" what a douche lol great song tho i love them even though im 19 i was born so late :(
For all the women of the world...because you can give a woman a mountain of gold but onceshe is made at you.she''ll sear that u never gave her a penny..just remember if u gave ur woman a penny she can never say u gave her nothing
Would have given anything to be at this concert!!! Just Amazing..sooo many memories associated with this song...those were such great times!! Would love to go back, if just for a day!!
George Michael why would you choose to be gay when you have crowds of women wanting your dick?.. this song was obviously the one at the time, i feel the energy no homo
You may think this was the good ol' days, but the unemployment was spiralling out of control in the 80's, so although it may have had good music and culture, it must've been dreadful living in those times without a hope in hell of a job or a future..
@RMCFShaunay1991 not much difference today it's like looking in a mirror but a lot worse. the rest of the time was good. except for lots of Drive In closings also
I'm so surprised that during George's Troubled Time, Andrew was never heard to try and help him nor any of his Other Bandmates, Shirley, Pepsi, or even Deon Eustis, his former Bassplayer. Also, I think that The "Melody" of ETW would have been perfect on a Rap Song.
I love this song! Still! I was sitting at home in my living room in high school, and this video came on M-TV, and my step father looked at me and said that " this song reminded him of my mother". They were divorced within a couple of months! Ahh, great memories I have of my early life.
wham were great ..and his voice given to us a lot of emotions ..bigger in every song ..strange things happened actually ..every new about him is inquitetant ,,,We wish to him to come back early in fashion and on success as ever...good luck .
What exactly did Andrew Ridgley contribute to Wham other than shuttlecocks down the shorts & a pair of hang-dog eyes? FFS sake Andy, have a word with yourself! lol
It just puts you where u want to be! Back in the 80's when it felt like real music with real rythm and real feeling, Unless you were there you would not understand!!!

Wow...takes me back. Late spring 1985 - this song along with "Everybody wants to rule the world", "Crazy for You", "Raspberry beret", "Sussudio" remind me of the good ol' days
This song always reminds me of a traveling sales job I had in 1985...I think of US 71 just south of Ashdown, Arkansas (about as far as you could get from Andrew, George and the UK at the time) in the summertime, where the land gets flat as a pancake a few miles above Texas and Louisiana and you can speed up when the road turns four-lane after being curvy and narrow.
