Why can't you fry them once until they are dark? Do you actually have to remove them, wait and fry them the second time?
I was able to get milk mawa from my local Indian grocery. Can I use it instead of the milk powder and, how much of it would I use for your receipe and, do I grate the mawa on a box grater to get it to the right consistancy and, do all the other ingredients remain the same???
